Military tech alway gets into civilian hands; its just a matter of time and money.
One day we'll be able to augment people into surperior soldiers by altering their bodies.
Would you change yourself into a living weapon if it was possible?

Talk me out of buying a rifle chambered in .22 magnum instead of 22lr.
As it stands both rounds are cheap and while .22lr is much cheaper it is also much less effective in hunting or self defense scenario.
.22lr is cheap but has severe limitations that make it a worthless round outside sports shooting
>>35136941
Please don't fall for the .22lr is ineffective meme. .22lr is perfect for hunting small game (anything that isn't you wouldn't hunt with .22 at all) and for self defense, that shit can kill a human / seriously injure one.
Go for the .22lr so you can practice more you LARPing bundle of faggots.
>>35136941
I would honestly recommend looking at 17HMR too, I've seen it around more than .22 mag.
Although .22lr is fine for small game hunting.
>>35136941
22 LR is good for plinking, practice, and small game.
Centerfire rounds are good for self defense and large game.
22 WMR is the worst of both worlds: too risky for self-defense and too expensive for plinking and practice.
Can my /k/omrades recommend me some movies or anime with military/agency or armed girls in general, who are NOT cocky or feel like they are the best? Is there even such a thing? All i can think of is Seras from Hellsing but i want something more realistic.

Hey /k/, so I legally came into ownership of a ruger p85 in Minnesota. I am 18, and not yet 21. I was just wondering whether or not anyone will actually sell me 9mm ammo. From what I've read it's illegal for them to sell it to me if I tell them it's for the handgun, but as I said, I legally own the handgun...
Any clarification? I was told to just say it's for a carbine but don't know whether that's legal or works.
>>35136552
Legally it's ok, some places don't know or want to "risk" it. If anyone cares, as you said say it's for a carbine.
Those Ruger Ps are tanks enjoy it.
If anyone presses, say it's a Ruger P carbine it's close enough to true.
>>35136552
Say you're buying range food for a carbine youre wanting to try out. Then go to a range and shoot some rounds a hipoint carbine or AR in 9mm so you technically werent lying
>>35136577
From what I've read it's not illegal for me to buy it, it's illegal for THEM to sell me it.
Anyways I might actually try out my uncle's shitty 9mm kel tech carbine so it's not lying I guess.

Hey guys, I only have a couple of these but I'd like to expand my collection. Share what you got.
So it struck me, that up until the late 1800s, nothing about the gunpowder manufacturing process was greatly affected by other technological development. It was still pretty much a matter of fermenting stuff in piles, putting things in buckets, boiling stuff, evaporating the water off, and grinding stuff up. None of it requires any complicated equipment. Notably, none of it even requires metal tools. At a minimum, one needs to be able to make charcoal, to make watertight vessels that can be brought to a boil, and to be able to finely grind substances to a powder.
Fundamentally, I think gunpowder production could be done by a stone-age people, had they stumbled upon the recipe. Say, perhaps, while attempting to create a stronger form of jenkem, the tribe's shaman blows up the medicine hut, and after recreating the substance, the tribe takes to hunting mammoths with IEDs.
What kind of shenanigans could ancient people get up to with considerable access to gunpowder, but no metal?
>>35135954
They did.
>The very earliest possible reference to gunpowder appeared in 142 AD during the Eastern Han dynasty, when the alchemist Wei Boyang wrote about a substance with the properties of gunpowder, and described a mixture of three powders that would "fly and dance" violently in his Cantong qi,

So I decided to rent the gen 5 g19 and g17 at my range today. The g17 was pretty much equal to or better than the gen 4 in every way. They totally fucked the grip on the g19 however. The magwell cutout didn't bother me at all, but not having any material there or even the rough texturing down far enough caused my pinky to slide off the grip fairly often, especially during fast firing, causing me to readjust my grip. I had no issues with the finger grooves on the gen 4, and don't have monster hands or sausage fingers. I do think that companies will come out with extra extended baseplates, or screw in magwells (like magpuls) that fill in the cutout and add a lip to hold your pinky. Hell, if any of you are enterprising, you'd probably make some money developing your own.
>>35135389
I was worried it would cause issues. That cutout and the flared magwell are by far my least favorite things about the new design. I wish they had just given us the better barrel and the reliability improvements and the better finish, perhaps a flatter trigger shoe and steel sights and left the rest of the pistol damn well alone
>>35135428
I've read (from one of the blogs of the dozen people invited to Glock Professional) that Glock has no plans to move the improvements to previous generations, which sucks. I'd love a gen 4 with the new barrel, nDLC, and trigger. Also, the other thing I forgot to mention is that the new trigger is pretty good. About as good as a gen 4 with a polish job and 3.5 connector. My LGS is a pretty big and popular one just outside my city's limits, so there's a chance it's been dry fired a few hundred times or more though.
>>35135389
That cutout was a terrible idea. If you're so high speed that you need the cutout to help with malfunction clearances, you'll be more than willing to make one yourself with a dremel tool

an former navy corpsman who was at iwo jima told me that a long time ago.
I want to get my first handgun but I can't decide between 9mm or .40
Help me out here
>>35135017
>Actually considering .40 Short & Weak in the first place
Go 9mm. As soon as law enforcement drops .40 it'll be a dead round only found at that weird fuckers booth at a gunshow.
>>35135028
>>35135025
The .40 is a great round, it's just doesn't close the gap enough to justify it over 9mm. It definitely isn't gonna be a dead cartridge anytime soon, that is fucking retarded. Alot of shooters use .40 in competition as well. Fucking day/k/are get worse and worse every year
>>35135017
Get 9mm, it's cheaper, easier to handle, can carry more. 40 is a great round, but it is snappy and takes awhile to adjust to it. If you're really crazy you can always get a Glock in .40, get 9mm barrel/extractor/ejector and have it both ways. What I use in USPSA
