What is the average practical range of a handgun in a common self defense caliber?
>>35150048
How strong are you?
Did you play baseball as a kid?
75 feet.
Im not exactly sure what you're asking though..
>>35150048
Don't listen to >>35150059 or >>35150077
You don't need a direct hit. The explosion radius negates the need for that.
I'd like some help on picking a 9mm pocket pistol to replace my 442
.38spl is getting too expensive for me to shoot extensively.
9mm is one of the cheapest center-fire handgun cartridges, and would allow me to practice more.
I'm deciding between a few
CM9
PF9
PT709
LC9
Shield
I'd like to keep it under $400, also no Springfield products, any help/experiences would be appreciated.
Out of those, a shield will serve you well, but you should save another $150 and get a used sig p938. Walther PPS M2 has a rebate deal going in until the 19th. It's better than the shield
>>35150743
I know the PT709 and the PF9 are pushing it as far as budget guns go, is there anything wrong with the LC9 or the CM9 that the shield does better?
>>35150008
9mm isn't that much cheaper.
What you should do is get a .22lr revolver
Now you can afford to practice.
Practice a ton for $0.06/rd.
Keep your 442 which you will now be awesome with.
Is there any benefit to using 308 as opposed to 30-06? Just bought a Remington 700 in 30-06 to hold me off until I find a Springfield M1903A4
Had me wondering if I should just go for a M1A instead of a Garand because either one of those is on my must have list as well.
Not using it for SHTF or anything like that where I would need as much ammo as I can carry
>>35149916
308 is designed around MODERN powder capable of patching the performance of a legacy (read that garand flavor) 30-06
>>35149934
So 30-06 was designed for black powder?
>>35149916
>actually debating on getting a garand
You missed the boat on cheap ones and its only going to get worse.
Hunt for the deals now
My brain says to buy an AR, but my heart says to buy an SKS.
I can't fucking decide!
:(

>people actually preordered this thing in full
Some anons have claimed that these were sold online for an extremely limited period of time, but I was on the email notification lists from retailers like AIM, Atlantic, Classic, etc. since it was first announced. I think a few gun stores might have gotten their hands on early imports that wound up on Armslist, but they were never imported in full as DDI was bought out by PSA. I've never seen one turn up on Gunbroker either.

Meanwhile the "big project" they were working on was an action figure wearing the armor. Apparently they're going to use the airshit version as costumes in Pacific Rim 2.

>1:7 KD ratio against supposedly inferior German tanks that couldn't even penetrate it
>1:3 KD ratio even at the end of the war against ragtag German tanks operated by 14-year-olds with no fuel
Is there a bigger Failed tank than a Soviet Tank? The Panzers, the Tigers, and the Panther tanks were clearly the best tank
>>35149559
hi there /his/
>>35149559
nice tank you got there.
saw that very one at aberdeen years ago.
many others were better though.
>>35149559
Nobody argues that OP, the whole point is the Soviets were playing a numbers game. For every T-34 that got knocked out, there were 5 ready to replace it.
With hunting season just around the corner, I thought we'd share some of our kills. Show me your handy work /k/. Also, state the weapon used.

Never been hunting. Always wanted too, but no one I knew did. Probably never will now.

>Probably never will now
It's never too late to start.
I just got my first handgun (Kel Tec P3AT) thanks to my state relatively recently becoming a constitutional carry state.
At seven yards I can get all shots within 6" but that's with decent pauses between shots. When pulling the trigger wildly (which I assume I will be doing were I to use this weapon in actual self defense) at seven yards the shots are just flying all over the place but I hope to improve that with practice. At 25 yards I find it difficult to get hits on a man-sized target at all, and that's with all my amount of concentration.
I understand that this gun is more difficult than the average pistol (very short sight radius, trigger literally 20x heavier than the weight of the gun itself, too small to really grip the thing, etc) but how well should I be shooting before I can carry and be confident that I would be able to use it to defend myself? How much easier is it to use something like a Glock 19 to actually hit stuff? I have literally never shot another pistol.
Thanks in advance for being gentle with a new gun owner happy to assert his rights...
It's up to you really. You're 100% more qualified than the people that but a pistol for sd carry and never even learn how it works before shoving it in a purse or glovebox. Just keep practicing and do dryfire training. It's not as easy as a glock 19 but the fundamentals don't change. That pistol barely has sights.
Did you get it used?
they don't come with those hex nuts anymore
>>35149164
Don't forget to work on your grip strength. Strong hands and forearms are a plus for shooting all guns, but those little pocket autoloaders can be especially taxing. Also, 25 yards is a little optimistic. 15-20 (tops) is a little more realistic.

The goggles are all over ebay in used to BNIB condition for $10-$25, mask idk like $40?
New revolver today. 1933 H&R 199, 9 shot top break .22lr. SAO, I want to practice getting stupid accurate with it. Seller is a local guy who restores a bunch of these, I may go back and pick up some random early H&R .22s, there are some lighter ones that are DA/SA, and some 7 shots.
Post your top break revolvers.
ok

I found 2 random Nodak Spud retro receivers in my safe and I have no idea what to build them into. I am not really an AR guy and my collection is as follows:
>M16A1
>Colt 605 clone
>XM177E1 clone
What should I build it into? I would prefer something from Vietnam era.
How do you find a receiver?
>>35147553
GAU-5
Are they full fenced? And if so do they have the A1 style receiver extension?
If no fence, do a 601 or something similar. Half fence do an E1, full fence do an A1
