It's not that great to shoot.
Trigger is bad.
Sights are bad.
Slide bite is bad.
Accuracy is bad.
Love the fireball though.

Yesterday at my LGS they had a Norinco 1911 for 350 and a Tokarev for 225. BC here.

I have a Tok and have done tremendous research into making ammo. That said, if you in syrup land can still get cheap x25 surplus, I would go with that. If you can not get cheap surplus, go with the 1911 since at least production ammo should shoot okay.

The thing is despite what most ammo manufactures tell you, the Tok has a .310 dia bore, not the .308. If you use the .308 bullets that Hornady and Sierra make, you are going to have accuracy issues. The same thing goes for most ammo manufactures, they use .308 (or worse, looking at you PRVI!) bullets in their 7.62x25.
If you are going to go the reloading route, good 7.62x25 dies can be expensive. I have an old set of Lee 7.62x25 dies and they don't size brass right (shoulder was too far up or simply the wrong angle) and the seating die always seated bullets crooked. Fixed it by buying a .30 Luger dies from a different company and using them to set the necks and seat bullets. You can easily use .32 ACP bullets or you can use powder coated cast like I do. Both shoot great.

Again because of the ammo headaches, I would recommend the 1911 unless you are looking for a project shooter.

I'd consider my tokarev to have the highest dollar/fun ratio of all the guns I own. Shame that surplus ammo has all but dried up. 7.62x25 is a unique and enjoyable round to shoot. Just don't have any misconception that the TT-33 is anything but an outdated and impractical range toy.

You can get upgrades for the 1911. 8+1 45acp vs 9+1 7.62x25

more defensive load options for the 45. HP probably won't feed but CorBon's powerball and Glaser safety slug are pretty good choices.

you CAN get hp for the x25 but it's harder to find and might not feed.

I got a m70a and I love the thing.

You may have to take it apart and check if some of the parts need polishing.

Mine jammed the first 5 rounds and hasn't jammed again.
