Anyone else stuck dealing with shit ranges.
Just some of the rules at a local outdoor range:
>no rapid fire (3rds every 15sec)
>only cast lead and frangible rounds for pistols
>no steel case, steel core, or bimetallic jackets ammo.
>no assault weapons (any semi auto with a pistol grip)
>must have NRA membership
Plus the rifle range is only 300m. Who the hell thought this would be a fun range. It is literally fudd central.
You answered your own question.
>>33687000
hey don't blame Nazis they didn't do anything wrong
>>33687000
>cast lead
So no glocks?

i don't like glocks, but i'm thinking of getting a beretta.

i took some long bread and rolled up a pb&j
I was watching news and i saw there those north korean "special" forces with thise type of AK...

MCMAP is a fucking joke.
It's just a mish-mosh of a bunch of different styles with heavy emphasis on Jui-Jitsu.
I was so disappointed. Stopped at Brown Belt because it was fucking retarded.
Has anyone ever done Kung Fu? Whats it like?
>>33686914
I've never done MCMAP, and I'm in the Air Force so if I kill people with anything other than a bomb or missile it's a bad day, but I do BJJ on my own time. The explanation for the BJJ focus was because it's somewhat unnatural (as in your natural instincts will get you guys against someone trained), gives you the ability to get back up if you're grounded, and throwing a haymaker doesn't take that much skill while training striking for proficiency takes much longer to get returns (timing, spacing, balance, seeing openings and exploiting them, etc.)
Post your butter knives lads before the Police come and take them off us :/
I was just looking for a carry knife in the uk and learned that it's illegal to have a folding knife that locks, as if anyone's going to think well I was going to commit a murder with this but I wouldn't want to catch my fingers on it if I hit a rib so I'll leave it out

'Ere, you're not just the rozzers tryin' t' bumboozle me int' a self-incrimination, are y'?

why not use a kitchen knife?
or a teaspoon :^)
How do Mini 14s handle steel case? I've got a buddy wanting a Mini 14 and I think it'll be cool to have one "in the family" so to speak, but I'm not sure how they handle steel. If they have problems with it I want to let him know he'll have to stick with brass and therefor spend more on ammo.
They'll eat anything, with gusto
>>33686721
Tell him to stick with factory magazines only (with ruger headstamp) and he'll be fine
If he goes off and buys some shitty promags he'll have a bad time
Newer 14's and 30's should eat anything.
Just painted it yesterday. going to mount a rail for some sites soon

ITT we discuss the Smith and Wesson M&P pistol
Do you own one?
Do you like it?
What don't you like about it?
lgs has pic related (no light laser) for 700.00 otd
Thoughts /k/?
>>33686573
>Do you own one?
yes
>Do you like it?
meh, just ok. i bought it to be contrarian i guess. i should have just got the glock 19
>What don't you like about it?
trigger is woeful. ive replaced it with a full apex kit, much better now. its actually pretty similar to a glock trigger, just crisper. the slide also doesnt lock back reliably with under powered ammo like wolf.
not to mention the whole mac torture test, which i know doesnt mean shit to a lot of people, but overall with its less than stellar rep and performance, its kind of embarrassing. i bought it to be my "go to" pistol, which it no longer is.
plus the 2.0 is out now, supposedly better , i dont know.
I used to carry a Shield and own a fullsize M&P9 that I really only bought because it was cheap.
What I like
>pretty ergonomic despite the fact that people put way too much care on how a gun ""feels"" in their hand
>both the Shield and fullsize are soft shooting for their size
>relatively easy to detail strip like most striker guns
>while not owning any thumb safety variants, the M&P line is one of the few striker guns that actually has a well designed thumb safety I wouldn't mind using
What I don't like
>sights are practically glued on and are a bitch to switch out
>plunger can only be accessed by removing the rear sight
>they don't make a 15+1 9mm M&P that is the exact size of the Glock 19
>some of the non Shield M&P's have had severe accuracy issues
I don't use M&P's at all now but if I had to cherry pick one to actually carry
>M&P9C
>Ameriglo TCAP front/ black rear
>thumb safety since I carry AIWB
>full ATEi trigger work
Apparently the ATEi trigger work is miles better than any of Apex's stuff. I would wait for the M&P9C 2.0 if it ever does come out. I really don't care for striker guns to be quite honest anyways.

>lgs has pic related (no light laser) for 700.00 otd
Nah, fuck that. The VTAC model has these sights in pic and they're waaaay to busy. They're like a Christmas tree and go for $160.
You can even get the VTAC in 9mm for $600 easily online if you were to insist on it.
I'm >>33686786
Get a regular M&P 2.0, some sights like Ameriglos or Dawson fiber optics a quality holster and just shoot it disregarding any sort of trigger job or kit. With that remaining money, you can buy a TLR 1 HL and still be right under the cost of a VTAC.
Hey /k/
just got a GP100 6" stainless used for $550 before taxes.
identical to pic related. It's had some work done to it; the action is incredibly smooth and staging is a breeze. the fucker before me didn't clean it before I bought it.
did I do good? should I have gotten a new one for ~$75 more?
haven't shot it yet. gonna vice it and check my groups when I get a chance.
I'm probably going to get a 44 redhawk in a few months, but I just can't stand guns without the full lug.
did I make a mistake? will it still last 3 lifetimes like they say?
>>33686484
>the action is incredibly smooth and staging is a breeze.
You don't stage a DA trigger. It's a smooth consistent pull all the way through.
>>33687243
it stops perfectly after locking the cylinder. the tip of my finger hits the back of the guard in the same spot every time. I hear the click, my finger hits the guard and it's ready. there's no resistance or stopping point for the trigger mechanically; it does indeed glide right through.
do you think there's any way the guy before me could have jeopardized the rifling or anything like that? I have it apart and it doesn't look like it's EVER been cleaned. It was made in 2011.
>>33687243
Are you retarded?
So /k/ I'm doing a research paper on the state of the mexican firearms industry from their revolution to today and kinda hit a snag for the revolution and WWII. I was wondering if you had any articles or texts you could recommend to help me.
It was mostly non existent. They bought Arisakas and Mausers. Spain didn't leave them much when they pulled out.
You could possibly look into smaller companies like Trejo and see how they started
>>33686446
I might, or just talk to Gun Jesus and see what he says.

they had some notable designers but no base to make much of their own.

go on with life if I'm not dead
All I know is I'd want the president to respond with nukes and not be milquetoast. If it were ISIS then nuke Raqqa (unless we were already besieging it). If it's a pure non-state actor without any actual territory then you can't nuke, but if they have a capital or territory of any kind respond tit for tat.

Also general range/class idiocy thread
I think the guy wearing a leather vest and a graphic t-shirt is funnier
People can be retards (and most are)
Just because one owns a firearm doesn't make them exempt from that fact.

My CHL instructor was fucking autistic as hell.
He started telling stories about how he killed people in Vietnam, how he clears his house overtime he enters it, makes his family stay in the car until he exits the vehicle and calls all clear, etc.
I have shit hearing from military service and went to the qualifying range. My hand wasn't even on the weapon and I turned to him to wait for his instructions and he screams "DON'T LOOK AT ME". I was shocked and how they let this guy walk freely in public without a helmet.
I just bought my first rifle. The Molot Vepr from Atlantic Firearms. Is there anything I need to be aware of when I receive the rifle such as cant issues and other out of the box maintenance concerns?
OP here. Posting my receipt.
>>33686010
Getting my 3rd vepr this friday hopefully.
Just do the canted sight check, but it should be good to go otherwise. Maybe bore snake the barrel and gas system(12ga snake) to remove any preservative oils.
Otherwise, just shoot and enjoy.
