When did you grow out of gym? At 22 I started real activity like bike riding, way leaner, more blood volume, don't have to watch how much I eat because I use so much energy, and it's a lot more fun. Doing time trials up mountains 350watts for 30 minutes feels a lot more fulfilling than how much weight you can lift a bar at 5000watts for 2 seconds. You can use it for transport anywhere so it's actually useful, do single trail and touring too, great experiences to explore than paying a gym membership to go get bigger muscles with sweaty guys.

On long rides you'll want to get out of the saddle every few minutes anyway, just to stretch out a bit. On TTs most of the pressure is on the thighs.

What I've gathered from my time of /fit/ is that most people here are tall (over 6 foot), great bodies, gourmet chefs, engineering students or making 6 figures in work as engineers, and have lots of sexual partners/girlfriends and tons of friends

Flab. Also if you do it by cutting a ton of calories, when you go back to eating a reasonable amount your body will start to gain weight because it's used to not having a lot and doesn't know what to do with the excess at first.

If you build up your arm and leg strength, along with having good throwing mechanics, can you get to MLB tier speed?

Former college pitcher here. I could throw 90 but my fastball was usually 85-88. I was 6'2, 185 pounds in college. We basically only did squats as far as compound lifts go. Strong legs and core were essentially. You have to neglect shoulders too because if they're too large then you will have problems with the rotation and become prone to injury. My squat was only in the mid 200s and I had an excellent core. Worked out only 3 days a week.

The gym is necessary but more important is your fundamentals as a pitcher. Make sure you run too, at least a couple miles 4-5 days a week because endurance is HUGE for pitchers. I didn't lift a single bit in high school and I could still go out there and throw mid 80s, touch on 87-88 on a good one for 6-7 innings.

But tl;dr the lifts you want to focus on are squats, a bunch of core exercises, and maybe some tricep work too. I don't really recall a lot of arm lifts that I would do.
