I like animals that have adapted to thrive in dense human environments like cities by eating garbage or living off of our refuse. Racoons are my favorite but there are other cool animals like rats, pigeons, ibises, all that good shit.

What is your favorite garbage animal and why?

I had a cat whose favorite food had to be baby spinach.

She would go nuts when she heard the case open. Pet grass, green tips of romaine, kale, etc. She just loved anything greener than iceburg letuice, which she wouldn't eat.

She was a good kitty.

Are bears part of the dog family?

A bear looks like a dog a lot, but instead of being quick and cunning, like a wolf, it evolved to be more bulky and strong.

>>
My main theory about bears is that bears and wolves were once the same animal, a dog.

The dog branched off into 3 different types of dog, eventually: The Wolf, The Bear, and The Dog.

Bears became bigger and stronger because they had to become thicker to protect from bees and because they needed to be able to sleep for a long time. A wolf became very fast and fiersome because it needed to hunt a lot, because they live in bigger families than a bear type of dog once did. The smart type of dog became man's best friend, using what on 4chan we would classify as "jewish" behavior in order to get ahead, smart but cowardly.

This is the core of my theory about bears.

A great quandry I have fallen upon in recent days, is the existence of the Coyote.

I haven't been able to discern which branching path the coyote must have taken in order to become what it is, but I do have one prevailing theory at this juncture: The coyote is much like a mule, which is when a horse mates with a donkey. I believe a coyote could be when a bear mates with a wolf, a wolf mates with a dog, or a dog mates with a bear.

/herp/ reptile classifieds for finding breeders of various scaled and sundry creatures

>kingsnake.com
>faunaclassifieds.com
>reptilescanada.com (Canadian breeders)
>Also check to see if there are any annual reptile shows/expos in your area as these are good places to find good animals from good breeders at partial discount

/herp/ officially official all purpose care sheet of wonder and magic

>sand a shit
>use a thermostat
>read all the caresheets
>set up your tank before you get your herp
>regulate temps & humidity levels prior to herp arrival
>do not fuck with (handle) your herp for at least 7 days after bringing it home and ideally wait until herp has eaten at least one meal (for snakes), two meals for lizards, frogs, etc.
>PVC tanks are way better for most applications and worth the extra money
>it is best to avoid chain pet stores when looking to purchase live animals as mass breeder suppliers are not especially careful about health and sound genetics... it often saves you money long term to spend a little extra up front to get a healthy animal

Hi /an/

First time here.

Firstly I'm in the UK, I'm thinking about getting a monkey but I'm not sure which breeds are legal in the UK (if anyone other Brits know). All the information online just keeps leading to the same "we suggest or the rspca suggests not to get one because we don't agree with it blah blah".

I know they're legal and i know you need a license to get one, but say if i was able to obtain a license does anyone know what breeds are available?

I don't know where else to ask.

I'll bite
do not get a monkey. Monkeys don't want to live in houses with people. They should stay in the wild where they belong. end of story.
>>
>>2319414
I'm getting am monkey, I'm gonna teach it to hunt with me. We're gonna go on hunting trips.
>>
>>2319406
Step 1: don't get a monkey, dickhead.
The reason you can only find people saying not to is because you shouldn't. It's a bad idea. There's no reason to breed these animals so shitheads like you can buy them and force them to live in a dog crate for their entire lives.

fat head minnow.
no, seriously.
>>
>>2319130

this, or maybe bluntnose minnow. Check the first ray of the dorsal fin, if it's shorter than the rest it's a blunt nose.

Also scale crowding on the head (they get smaller and there's more of them) that also means its a bluntnose or fathead.

i'm no expert, but unless baby turtles are not dimorphic but grow different over time...it's a girl. the flat plastron suggests this. male turtles have concave plastrons so they don't fall off the girl when they fuck

Any chinchilla owners? I im need of some info from direct owners. Ive had my little girl for about 2 years now, she has almost every need satisfied, dust, food, toys, plenty of room, etc. and everything seems fine. But one thing that bothers me is if shes lonely. Ive heard they can will themselves to die if they're sad. Is it too late to get another chinchilla buddy for her? I work long hours and sometimes come home to hear her makong cooing sounds among other strange noises and this worries me. Of course socialise with her as much i can but is it enough?

Tl;dr
>chin hasnt seen others of her kind for a few years
>is it too late to introduce her to another

I don't know much about chinchillas, but I hope you're not keeping it in that aquarium. Especially not for the last two years. I mean, actually, you really shouldn't be keeping any small animals in a tank. The only ones that can really be kept in tanks are dwarf hamsters and mice.
I would say that it'd probably be best to get her a friend. They're social animals and like most small animals, it's not really possible for them to thrive alone. I don't know much about chinchilla intros, but i'd imagine it would be best to take it very slow. Do a lot of research into introductions and compatible ages/sexes before you try anything.
>>
>>2318736
The tank is actually very big, she had enough room in it to make leaps, but in actuality, its basically her bed. I leave the top open so she can go in and out as she pleases. When i said she has plenty of room, i meant she has the entire house. I dont limit her, when she gets tired or sleepy, she has little domes scattered around the house. But she knows food and water is always in the tank. Its never closed.
>>
>>2318942
I really would advise doing more research if you think a tank is an acceptable habitat for a chinchilla in any context. "big enough to jump" isn't really an acceptable standard for housing an animal.

Sup /an/, /diy/ requesting assistance.

How do I make a cockatiel leave me the fuck alone?

My partner has three. I have absolutely zero interest in them, however one of the basically screams its fucking head off whenever I walk into the room. Best as I can tell, and despite zero interaction with it, it has "bonded" to me. The other two just chill and do their thing which I can easily tolerate, but this little faggot just will not shut up. If they are out of the cage, she comes right for me. It takes every fiber in my body to not swat it away like the irritant it is, which would likely injure it.

Is there anything that can be done about this or am I finding someone to get it the fuck out of my house?

>>
>>2317588
Are you sure it bonded to you? It sounds like it doesn't like you.
>>
>>2317629
If I'm sitting on the couch it sits behind my head and "grooms" my hair, and swishes its tail across my neck. I get home from work before my partner, and as soon as this thing hears the garage door the screeching starts, when I let them out of their cage it comes straight to my shoulder. I can get it to step on and put it down, but as soon as I try to walk away it flies straight to either my shoulder or head. My partner says this is bonding/bonded behaviour, and I'd take her word for it. The internet seems to reinforce this as well.

You know how dogs always beeline it to non dog people? I think this is the same thing. It's just the screaming I can't get behind. It basically ignores my partner if i'm around as well. She has it trained but if i'm in the room all bets are off. If I get big and scary it'll run to my partner, but 5 minutes later it's creeping it's way back. It's almost like red light/green light. If I look at her it stops, if I look away it starts creeping again. My partner knows this all pisses me right the fuck off, but I don't want to make her get rid of a bird. On the flipside I don't want to have to train an animal which I believe should not be captive anyway, and that I have no interest in (I have never been a big fan of captive animals, domesticated or otherwise).

Does anyone know how dangerous molding or rotten fruit is for dogs? I have two orange trees in my back yard and they constantly drop oranges that begin to mold and rot pretty soon after landing. I want to get a dog but I'm not sure if something bad will happen if a dog eats a rotting orange.
15 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Why don't you pick the fucking oranges and eat them yourself before they fall off the tree? There are entire countries in Africa that could survive on those oranges and you're worried about having too many of them laying around on the ground rotting? Check your first world privilege and eat your fucking oranges, shitlord.
>>
>>2316735
I do. There are just way too many oranges. and they go bad so fast after hitting the ground that I'm not always there to grab them the second they fall. Also birds and shit are always pecking holes in them making them rot faster. I already have infinite orange juice and still a million oranges on the floor.
