Is a crab a spider or a fish?
Two big observations we can make about the crab are: 1.) It looks like a spider, legs etc. 2.) It lives inside the ocean
>>2319058
Crustacean
the crab originated from spiders that didn't have the nutrients in their environment to make silk, so they would trap their prey in puddles of their urine (they would eat sweet berries to make the urine heavy in glucose to attract flies, sometimes even small hummigbirds for certain species). eventually they adapted to use natural bodies of water, then just began living and hunting in them. so the crab is a spider.

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them
If anyone has the original thread info saved somewhere please post for next /aq/

Use a turkey baster to squirt the food directly at the cories or use a big net to put the betta in time out for feeding.

Puffer teeth freak me out when freediving. They're much scarier than barracuda, which just peacefully hover.
Do any of you mind when your dog is watching you piss?
>>2316537
Not particularly--she does sometimes try and drink from the tap, if you know what I mean, which can be problematic.
only when she sticks her head too far into the bowl. idgaf otherwise
My dog is way too curious about my dick.
Is there an /an/ infograph of recommended animal documentaries? Preferably ones that are more dry and informational than XTREME or cutesy.
Also general documentary/informational thread, I suppose
>>2315642
Louis Theroux has some good animal documentaries
Anything narrated by David Attenborough and other british documentaries. Also look through a list of old Discovery documentaries that used to air.
Personal fav of mine growing up is Big Cat Diary. It was nothing I went out of my way to watch since I was bored of big cats by then and some episodes had the cats doing fuck all which was nice instead of everything being extreme. You get really attached to them then it rips out your fucking heart.

Crocodile Hunter
Are these things actually important to the ecology, or could we exterminate these dangerous prehistoric beasts without any adverse effects on the environment?
All of them should be eradicated and their habitats used for human needs 2bh.
>>2315519
More important than you that's for sure
Let's get a /bird/ thread going.
Post any questions you have about birds in this thread.
Share any pictures you have of your cute little buddies in this thread.
Here's my 2nd best buddy, he passed away this morning. My other tiel is feeling a bit sad and lonely, so I decided to DIY my own bird stand so she can have fun. Any tips?
Here's my other qt

Looking for a dog please help.
Hi guys im looking to get a dog and there are so many to choose from. Anyone with experience can you please help?
The qualities im looking for:
Friendly/Loyal
Guard dog (or big)
Intelligent
Family Friendly
Good with other pets
Also this will be a first dog.
I can commit an hour a day to it walking/training.
Really apprecaite all the help.
Adopt from a reputable animal shelter. Talk with the employees, tell them what you're looking for, and see which one they recommend.
If you don't like what's available come back at a later date or go to another shelter.
Good luck
I am keeping track on new dogs coming in to shelters but most of them are suggested for experienced keepers and do not really get a long with other animals.
It would be nice though.

Where are you located?
What is this flying insect?
>>2319762
blurry af but i think Asilidae, or robber fly.
>>2319764
I had to snap the pic quick cause it was very aggressive. Hence blurriness
>>2319762
Doesn't really seem to have a coloration of a robber fly. Has fuzzy hair over the whole body.
>dog got attacked by other dog a week and a half ago

Numbing agent?
>>2319736
dunno what you mean
>>2319737
Essentially weak painkillers that are applied on the skin, or in this case nose.
Like the stuff the dentist gives you before he injects an actual anesthetic.
Or it could just be anti-itching ointment, which is probably what you want.
Hey guys, found this a couple of these little bastards in some old pasta of mine, any idea what it is? My Google searches haven't been conclusive
>>2319619
Looks like some kind of small bettle larvae. Like a carpet/warehouse beetle
After a little more research I'm thinking it's dermestid larvae
>>2319627
Responded right before I made my post, dermestid/carpet Beatle is what I'm thinking too, thanks for the affirming what I'm thinking
Good evening /an/, my parents keep a cat tethered in their farm. I'd like to rescue him and turn him into an happy friendly home cat.
I had him fixed by the vet but he's quite agressive without warning and I don't know why. He attacks my other cat, and sometimes when he's being petted he bites me out of a sudden.
What can I do to make him less aggressive? He went back to the farm since my parents saw I couldn't rehabilitate him, but I want to give him a second chance. Please tell me what to do /an/, he's been chained to his little house for months and I want to help this cat and my parents to treat their critters better.
Call the authorities.
Spend more time with him... There's no miracle. Just hope, be a responsible owner and wait

>when he's being petted he bites me out of a sudden
There may not be much helping with this. Sometimes cats are considered over-stimulated, and when they get pet too much they suddenly can not handle it and turn to bite. It's like kitty autism, there's not much you can do except try to look for small indications that he is starting to get overstimulated, or pay attention to generally how long it takes before he gets overstimulated, and stop petting him before it hits that point.

Ignore his hipster facial hair, the info is good. There could be a plethora of other reasons why he might attack due to the environment so you might want to look at some other relevant videos of Jackson also
Hi /an/. My doggo was just hit by a car before my eyes after he slipped from the leash. He died a minute later in my hands.
Pic related was him.
Please hug me :(
He was a good friend.
>>2319286
>slipped from the leash
your fault tbqfh famalamadingdong
>>2319286
My dog was ran over when I was 3. All I remember is trying to comfort my crying mother by saying that I'd buy a gun and shoot the gas tank of dude's truck when I grew up.
I Met this cutie in a cat cafe, what breed does he look like?
Its hairless it can only be a sphinx have you never seen these cats before??
>>2319206
Sphinx look like they have even less hair though
Looks like a cornish rex senpai, they are the same build and character as the sphinx but with short, stubbly hair. Cute.
Doggo help please
This idiot slipped on ice the other day and tumbled down the steps, he's fine, (still running around and jumping all over the place he has no pains) but now he's afraid to go up the steps now. He refuses to do it, he just stands there at the bottom and barks until someone physically picks him up and helps him. He weighs almost 100 pounds so it's a pain in the ass
Tried tough love where I just ignore him but he will sit down there for hours barking until someone gets him. Left him for 2 hours today and he was still waiting there when I got back
Wat do, because I'm not putting up with this shit
Put him on his leash, and walk him up the stairs several times.
>>2318530
tried, he wont budge He will pull back and choke himself and just stand his ground
he will put his front paws up, he wont step up with his back legs though
>>2318532
You have to be persistent.
Anytime you train a dog on a leash you can't just give up. You keep working with them and become more stubborn than the dog. Once the dog knows you are not going to give in, they accept it and do what you tell them. Even if that means walking up steps that they refuse to do.
Tell me about this animal.
Is he strong? It's been said there is many in my area and sometimes they go into backyards.
>>2318412
Yes, wolves are among the strongest animals on earth.
They are very shy animal I doubt you would see wolves in your backyard unless :
-Theyre fucking hungry
-You skinned a whole beef and let it dry.
