Do we got any vets in here? Anybody know one?
I'm working toward my Associates in Biology and I am curious as to what's the best career path for a vet or assistant.
>>2317684
UK vet student here), I'm afraid I can't answer any specific questions about US qualifications, but I can offer some generalised advice.
Have you started work experience yet? Are you currently working at a vets?
>>2317708
No, I haven't decided on a path yet, just gathering information and advice before I choose a field. What kind of degrees do you need over there? Are you working yet?
>>2317708
I'm taking microbiology right now and lab work is really engaging for me as well. But you don't bump into lab technicians very often so unfortunately I don't know much about local employers.
Organisms are so goddamn amazing though I know I want to study them for the rest of my life.
A cat climbed up a tree next to my house and he's stuck on a tiny limb. He's about 30 feet up and every time I go out he starts meowing at me wanting help. He's too high up to get a ladder to him. I called the fire dept but they won't help. And I'm too fucking old and fat to climb up the tree without killing myself. I left some food where he can see it but it's not encouraging him to come down. Any ideas? He's been up there all day and I feel bad for him.

>I called the fire dept but they won't help
Lol what a bunch of faggots you should go bomb their fire station that'll get them off their asses atleast.
But for the cat get a taller ladder.
>>2317493
I know. I understand they need the resources but if they really cared, they'd send someone to help.
The tallest ladder I have access to wouldn't even reach half way. I'm thinking about tossing a rope over a higher limb and maybe hooking a basket to it. No idea where I'd find that much rope or if I'd even be able to toss it high enough to get it over a limb though.
>Firefighters that don't want free hero blowjobs for saving a cat
Weird. You must live in a really remote area.
Obviously spite is the only option left. Climb the tree yourself and sue/get your surviving family to sue the fire dept when you fall.
Do cats not come home because they get lost or because they don't want to?
My cat escaped from my apartment a few months ago, after I brought her from my parent's house to live with me. We eventually found her half starved to death. She's been recovering with my parents since, but I want to bring her back.
I don't know if she didn't come home because she didn't think of my apartment as home yet and was trying to get back to my parents, or she just got lost or stuck. At my parent's she goes outside but always comes home.
I'm obviously going to be very careful about not letting her escape again, but I'm pretty paranoid about it happening again. If I took her on a leash walk around the area would that help her come home if she did escape? I don't know what else to do besides buy a GPS tracker.
Both. Sometimes they don't want to come back, sometimes they get lost, sometimes they get injured and sometimes they die
If they escape from the apartment and have never been outside in the area they might get scared and lost. They probably don't know where they are and can't find home.
My cat was out exploring the stairwell of my apartment complex(under my supervision). He climbed up to the floor above, which looks identical except there are only 2 apartments there instead of 4. He heard a noise and got scared, but forgot where he was, and headed to the corner where my door would be, scratching on the wall. He had completely forgotten that he was on another floor and got confused.

Actually, I dislike labs.....poodles 4 ever
The best breed is the Airedale Terrier.
Sorry OP, everyone on /an/ will agree on this.

It's yellow. But according to wiki apparently orange is yellow too.
Don't ever buy an animal from a store. I didn't believe it until it happened to me. They are liars and only want money. I got a dog from Petland a few years back, and they said nothing was wrong with him, and urged me to only go to a specific bet so I listened. Eventually my dog got very skinny and sick, so I took him to my vet, and they told me he was extremely ill and beyond saving. Petland and that god damned vet lied and kept all his illnesses a secret. They put me and my dog through hell, my dog basically starving to death, and me having to watch him be in so much pain. I had to put him down today, and I swear on his life that I will never buy anything from Petland or other stores like it ever agian. What they did was extremely disgusting. Sleep tight little pupper.
>>2317364
Sounds like it's exclusively your fault for being retarded enough to buy a puppy mill dog. Seriously, the fuck did you expect? And you didn't even fucking save it. Nice job killing a dog and funding puppy mills, dickhead.
>>2317364
Sorry you had to go through that :(
>>2317364
Rest in peace pupper.
Tell me, why does /an/ hate cats so much?
I understand outdoor cat hate but why does /an/ hate them just for being cats.
I WANT AN ACTUAL REASON NOT JUST "they're disgusting and deserve to die" THAT'S NOT A VALID REASON.
It's a meme mate and people respond to the bait so easily it's never going to stop. So get over it you cat pissing smelling faggot.
i dont actually care if you like them and i think theyre fine, its just a fact that the people who like to talk about them/post pictures of them online are almost always incredibly easy to get a rise out of due to the personality types that are attracted to cats.
additionally, please delete this thread and repost this in the already existing meta thread, which each board is allowed to have one of, and this is
4chan is the contrarian website. The general internet loves cats so the edgelords here have to contradict it. Most of it's shitposting, or genuine hate from a few posters. Most of us don't give a fuck one way or the other.
