Need clarification;
I get that the GC version had a higher resolution, but did it have a better framerate as well? The engine is probably capped at 20fps but did the GC version have fewer drops?
If not, the only reason I can think to choose GC over virtual console is for Nintendont widescreen hack, right?
>>3557818
Ran worse but not by a large margin
Majoras Mask on the anniversary disc tho, dat shit unplayable
The VC versions run pretty close to the originals, on the other hand.
>>3557823
>Ran worse
you're saying the cube version of OOT ran worse than the original? That's the first I've heard of it. I guess I'll go with VC then
>>3557825
It's barely noticeable on OOT, if your just looking to play that should be fine
How the fuck do I defeat this 'thing'?
I'm level 54 and I have already beaten the main storyline. I used Hastega on my team, had a mystic knight with thunderga enchanted + rapidfire, dual wield and mime. But still couldn't come close to beating this thing.
Whenever I attack him, he counter attacks with a bunch of moves. Rocket punch deals half of your health and confuses you, Delta attack petrifies you. Musturd bomb one-shots a team member, dispel one-shots a team member by making them forget about something? (Basically death, but can't come back to life) Atomic ray rapes your whole team if you don't have a flame ring, Wave cannon and earthquake rapes the whole team regardless of your equipment, and this thing even reflects magic.
Any suggestions on beating this thing?
>>3557381
Level 54 is way too underleveled for Omega. Come back to it when you have a level 99 party with all class levels maxed for everyone. Yes, even Freelancer. Freelancer gets a lot of stat points for every class mastered. I think I beat him with a party of Mimics miming the most powerful attack in the game. It's been a long time though so I don't remember the exact strategy.
>>3557429
Well, off to the cleft dimension for me. lol
>>3557429
>level 99
Maybe for the Last Omega, but ya 54 is a bit low for the first one.
Hi, retro-kuns! I need your advice.
Which one looks more like a SNES connected via RGB to a PVM CRT? A or B?
I know that snes rgb was a bit more blurry than ps1 rgb, Does A or B look more like a PS1 connected via RGB to a PVM CRT?
Oh - and please no triggered autists that want me to play on the real console, buy a crt or shitpost about shaders/"filters" instead of helping me - you will be blocked!
Thank you.
Can't you just pick the one that looks nicer to you?
>>3557369
Neither of them really.
BTW, PVM's are garbage, just so you know.
ITT: Games you're still waiting to get translated. I'm waiting for a Sakura Wars translation. Last update was roughly half a year ago at 30% completion. Sadly its a PC translation, not the Sega Saturn.
>>3557116
How about learn jap and translate it yourself, faggot.
>>3557152
I speak Japanese and translate shit and this has always been a dumb argument to make. No one respond to this bait anymore.
Still waiting for that Shin Megami Tensei: If...translation and Mega Drive Sorcerian.
the hardest game you've beaten?
also, the hardest game you gave up trying to beat?
>>3557076
>Gave up
F-Zero X
Master difficulty
Either of the DD GP's (Expansion Disk)
With one of the objectively bad racers
>the hardest game you've beaten?
Ghosts n Goblins or Mario 2 Japan. Both on the Wii virtual console, so no save states other than for pausing.
And Kid Chameleon on hardware, I guess.
>also, the hardest game you gave up trying to beat?
Punch Out.
>>3557076
Megaman and Bass. You'd expect it'd be easier, on par with MMX. Guess what, it was harder than any other MM I played. Haven't managed to beat it.
Also, you will probably laugh at me, but Super Mario World without cape and Star Road abuse. It gets harder gradually, but around world 6 it gets pretty damn hard.
Which has the better audio capabilities in terms of hardware?
Which had the better musical compositions in its games?
The Amiga, obviously, though they're both inferior to the ST.
>>3557059
Amiga, no contest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZeVN26qShY
SNES has 8 voices with stereo panning.
Amiga only has 4 voices that are position locked (2 left 2 right).
What went wrong for Mega Drive in Japan? Why did it come behind PC-Engine there?
Japan was too in love with their own hardware and didn't have much direction as a business in general. What's that old fucked saying...? Even though you may like cheesecake, doesn't mean you can fish with it? Whatever, fuck Sega Japan essentially.
PC Engine came out before the Mega Drive, and by the time SFC came out, there was little market share left for the MD in Japan.
Their favorite JRPGs were on PCs, PC-Engine and SNES. You can't beat Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy there.
Y'all ever play Drakkhen?
I played it, years ago, and I adored the feel and atmosphere of the game. It feels so eerie and alien.
Are there any other games that have a similar sort of eerie, alien, somehow lonely atmosphere?
>>3556995
I haven't played Drakkhen, but I remember not understanding how the game was played when I first tried it as a kid.
I did however play its supposed sequel which was Dragon View, I believe. It was amazing but the emulator glitched on me. It's definitely a game I'd buy if it was ever re-released.
Reading this thread makes me want to give Drakkhen another try.
>>3557042
I mean I only played Drakkhen once*
>>3557042
>>3557047
I remember playing Dragon View after I got through Drakkhen. IIRC I was just disappointed by it.
I mean, don't get me wrong, Dragon View's not necessarily a bad game, but it just lacked all of the charm, the atmosphere, the feel of Drakkhen. It just felt like a generic JRPG that happened to have an overworld mode that mimicked Drakkhen.
What is NeoGeo exactly? Like I've seen arcades machines of NeoGeos and it has a shit ton of games on it but is that it?
>sorry for my arrogance
>>3556932
It's an arcade machine that uses cartridges (MVS and AES), there's a dedicated upright machine and board (the MVS) and a home console version (AES). These two use different cartridges but are the same games and hardware.
Not sure what you're asking here.
Neo Geo is a 1987 album by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The term "neo geo", or "new world", is derived from Sakamoto himself as a way to describe worldwide musical diversity in regard to genre (similar to world music and world beat).[2]
The track Risky featuring Iggy Pop on vocals was released as a single with another track from "Neo Geo" After All as the B side. The music video for Risky was directed by Meiert Avis and was released in two different versions to accompany the 7" and 12" extended version of the song. The latter contains scenes of female nudity. [3]
>>3556941
You legitly answered it, so they're only arcade machines that play carts like a normal home console?
Looking to get into Castlevania? What's the best way to play through them in order?
Like what roms, etc.
Start withusing the catalog
Rondo of Blood for the PC-Engine (remade for the PSP) is the best classic entry in the series. Aside from that, some other good classic games in the series are Dracula's Curse (Japanese version is the best because of the enhanced audio), the original (Japanese version is better again for the same reason), and Rebirth on the Wii.
Symphony of the Night is the best Metroidvania entry in the series. Saturn version is nowhere near as bad as people make it seem but you probably don't want to play that version for your first time through the game. Some of the other really good Metroidvanias are Order of Ecclesia, Portrait of Ruin, and Aria of Sorrow.
The 3D games except for Legacy of Darkness aren't really worth playing.
>>3556662
Play Makaimura instead.
What games are universally loved and respected by /vr/?
>>3556512
This
Megaman X 1 to 4?
One of them has to be.
>>3556512
Doom maybe?
Every good game somehow attracts a ton of snowflakes.
What is the highest quality handheld SNES emulator console?
Not to add bias to the topic, but I keep hearing bad things about pic related.
> handheld SNES emulator console
>>3556490
>I gameā¢ exclusively on it
t. that guy
Not sure if I get the question. Do you want a handheld that plays specifically snes only or do you want something handheld to play snes emulator on?
Is Caesar 2 still worth playing, or should I just play Caesar 3?
I'll give you a bump. I was wondering this too.
>>3556404
Yeah, it holds up pretty well but it's really repetitive
PLEBS ARE NEEDED!
If you play Super Mario Bros. backwards, it's about a plumber that locks a princess in a castle, summons a giant turtle dragon from the lava to guard the room she is locked in, and runs away, resurrecting several brown mushroom-like creatures along the way, only for the turtle dragon to return the princess, and cast a spell turning stones and plants into little mushroom people.
>>3556204
If you play my dick backwards it's about a hard penis that sucks up cum until it becomes flaccid.
>>3556204
that actually makes for a nice redemption story for bowser
if we play OP's life backwards, he gets into a dick. what a massive faggot
What does /vr/ think of Giga Wing?
It's
so
I like the last few stages, but I find it takes a bit of time before it heats up. Not a fan of not having extends either (aside from the one secret one)
Other then that, it's good game. When it gets good, it gets GOOD. Mars Matrix just refines the formula a bit better IMO.
