Your opinion on the Laura Trilogy (D, Enemy Zero, D2)
D is just okay. too much cryptic shit and there are way better pout an clicks games of it's time
Enemy Zero is a great game. The story is engrossing, cool mechanics and environment to explore. It's on the rather slow side just like D, but the story is so good that it makes you want to keep playing it.
D2 is a masterpiece though, hands down best game on the Dreamcast. The graphics are beautiful even to this day, has an even better story than E0, has god tier violence and gore, the controls are great, it's scary as fuck, and it's also one of the most ambitious games of it's time

D on 3DO gave me literal PTSD in grade 1 but this isn't my personal blog. I got over it when I got to high school though. It's just weird when I watch people play them now and everybody is just laughing.
Can we have a 3x3 thread?
Always like seeing everyone's favorite games, and discussing them.

Why aren't you playing GBA Doom: The Lost Levels right now /vr/?
"This is a mod/hack for the real GBA Doom I game. Like in PSX Doom The Lost Levels TC, I've added all Doom I levels which not included in original GBA..."
Playing it now on my everdrive. Combined with Doom GBA, it makes for the best console port of the original doom.
>>3550762
>GBA
Not retro. And Doom mods should be in the Doom general
Neat but not /vr/. The DS homebrew was pretty good too.

Duke Nukem Advance looks much better.
I finished both Phantasmagoria games recently, and now we're having a thread about them. I enjoyed them both, but I enjoyed Phantasmagoria 2 way more than the first one.
To my surprise Phantasmagoria 2 is generally disliked by the fans and it got thrashed by the reviewers. I thought it was much better than the first one: Real sets, better acting, better/actual puzzles, more dialogue, better music, better plot, etc. and just more deeper game in general.
I think the first Phantasmagoria is really nice experience, but as a point and click adventure it's little bit too bare bones. There really are no puzzles, unless you call using key on door a puzzle. The acting is really cheesy -which is not a bad thing- but the game relies wayyy too much on the FMV and not in the pointing and clicking.
Phantasmagoria 2 started out really slowly, took me about 3 hours to get even started because the camera is so retarded; you just have to guess where you are and where you have to go, because the camera sometimes has angles so tight that you can't even know which parts of the room are clickable and which are just background. Also, fuck the context sensitive cursor. The ending is also really weak.
Sorry about the underaged kids not responding, OP.
For a second I thought about killer floating chrome spheres. Sorry can't help btw.

Have you tried replaying old educational games as an adult?
I had fond memories of the Magic School Bus series, except the "Explores the human body" one, and looking back on it, it somehow feels even creepier now.
https://youtu.be/96vuIcINNUY?t=3m44s
I had the Solar System one, I believe I still have the "passport" instruction manual somewhere.
I played it because it was Magic School Bus, but the actual platforming sections were really bad.

Are Tiger games video games?
just barely
>>3550506
Sure why not? I enjoyed the fuck out of them in the late 80 and really early 90's even though I had a Game Boy. I would take the tiger games to places like local swimming pool and park cause it didn't matter if it got scratched broken or stolen. I would usually get them on sale for $10 or so and really enjoyed them.
It hurts to live.
So anon, which game company does your uncle work at?

Post a retro game that you have recently come back to which is still just as good as you remember it being.
For me, Star Fox 64. Holy fuck I love this game. Im on a mission to get all of the Medals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g74fnZEOjGM
Mario Kart 64. Got it for cheap a few years ago and finally decided to try it out. The game is as good as I remember it, pulling the slides and the mini turbos feels great, and learning each circuit takes some time. I've only just be able to beat Luigi's ghost from Luigi Raceway, whcih is the easiest circuit in the game. Mastering each course' best time might take a while, I don't think I'll be able to do it but I'm just having fuck fucking around with it and beating my own ghosts. What's bullshit though is that the game requires 121 blank pages on the memory card to save ghosts, and the N64 memory card has 123 blocks. That's some serious bullshit. but whatever, I can live without ghosts, the best times are saved anyway.
The main reason I came back to Mario Kart 64 was because I wanted to play some multiplayer, battle mode is still the best VS mode in any Mario Kart. But I got hooked on the single player and time trials. I already got all the gold cups on all difficulties including Extra.
got starfox 64 this morning from a guy online
it is really great
the port of Starflight for Genesis. Still my favorite GEN

Is pic related the best Famicom-sized flash cart or are there better options?
yeah. if there's an everdrive for something, it's the best cart, except for the super nintendo.
beware of salty /vr/ posters who don't like krikzz because of his prices.
I've been looking at this one myself OP. The main problem I've heard about it is that certain expansion audio games (FDS games and the various cartridge games that used expansion audio) don't have the full audio when played on this cart. For me that's the reason I'd even buy a famicom flash cart over a normal one, so I dunno about it myself.
If anyone can point out that I'm wrong or can name an alternative I'd be happy to know about it.
I also know about the FDSStick, basically a fancy USB drive that emulates a Famicom Disk System. It's literally like having an FDS, just a tiny stick instead of a finnicky drive, and you can easily fit the entire FDS library on one. You hook it up to the RAM cart and away you go.
So if you had that plus an EDN8, then you'd have everything working normally except for expansion audio carts. If you're happy with paying the price to play Akumajou Densetsu, Lagrange Point, etc. with their original audio, then I'd say buy the cart, cuz it seems an EDN8 won't do the job unfortunately.
>>3550231
The EverdriveN8 can play FDS games though.
