This "adjusted for inflation" autism completely misses the point.
>>3540921
How so?
>>3540921
I don't know if it misses a point, I don't know what kind of a point it was trying to make.
ITT: submit enemy sprites for an Earthbound romhack
Submit any PNG that is 16 colors and at most 128x128.
When making a sprite, keep in mind the following
>These sprites can only have 16 colors total, that includes a color that will be counted as transparent
>The only 128x128 battle sprite in the vanilla game is The Devil's Machine, otherwise known as Giygas phase 1. Most large enemies are only 64x64, and small things like ramblin' evil mushrooms are 32x32.
>you can skip the process of making the file itself have the right color depth, I will handle that.
>make the background a distinct color (not transparent) from the rest of the sprite.
>be sure to claim the enemy slot before someone else beats you to the punch.
When you submit a sprite
>filename is the enemy number you're submitting for
>post text is the new enemy name.
>there is a limit to namesize, but it's based on the width of the text and not a character limit. Just use logic and assume that "WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" probably won't fit.
Think of this like a mosaic thread, only it's gonna be in an interactive Role Playing Game
If this attracts enough attention, I (we) may even go through the trouble of changing attack text, enemy stats, and other flavor text associated with the new rogues gallery

Allowed : Computers made from the 70s to Windows 95 and their games (of course), peripherals for these computers from any time period (MIDI expanders included)
Tolerated : Unknown, unsupported or not really popular post-95 stuff (BeOS, old Linux, stuff like that).
Discouraged: Late 90s games and computers, Pentium PCs or more, PPC Macs and up, Windows 95 and later, Europe vs America shitposting

The PC-88 intro of Popful Mail:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGg9lWupvEU
I prefer Mail's design in that version of the intro compared to the PC-98 one -- the resolution is higher and it has twice as many colors, but the face they gave to Mail isn't that great compared to the other versions imo.

Good evening /vr/ I am hoping you can help me out. I am currently looking for older video game franchises that I can marathon, I recently did Kirby and Ghosts and Goblins and am looking for some more recommendations.
DKC
Earthworm Jim
Strider
Shinobi
Honestly look at the catalog, that should give you a fair idea.
>>3561026
Thank you, DKC is the only one of those I have played through all the way. I will go ahead and browse the catalog but hopefully the thread will get some more love as well
>>3561018
Contra
Castlevania (that will take you a long time)
Megaman (also love you long time)
Crash Bandicoot
if you are an rpg fan or a masochist try playing all of the Final Fantasy retro games or Dragon Quests. I like to play through Suikoden 1 and 2 at least once a year.
So, I was dicking around with the shaders in retroarch and toggled on bsnes_gamma_ramp.glslp and now every NES title has this god awful red and yellow pallet.
The problem is that I can't make it go away. I've turned the shader passes to 0, reset emulation station, and reset the raspberry pie itself.
Do you retrofolk have any ideas for a solution?
>>3560494
>raspberry pie
lol
>>3560494
Perfect for the holidays.

I bet Tetris looks pretty boss in that color scheme.
ITT: The craziest shit you did with a Game Genie or Gameshark
For me it was installing """nude""" mods for Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy, which were basically a blank skin stretched over the chest area of the female wrestlers breasts
Manually rebuilding my PSO character after the VMU it had been on on corrupted.
>>3560030
That's fucking hardcore. Those code-breaker codes were a nightmare.
>>3560007
Not much, but why did they stop working eventually?
I manually entered an (if I remember right) extremely long Goldeneye code that would let me change every enemy in the game to a random enemy? I think I was in the outside ice level and every enemy was Jaws once
Games you gave a try and fell in love with, unexpectedly.
I'll start
Virtua Tennis 2k2 on the Dreamcast.
>>3559598
Every single one.
I remember just playing this series because I thought that it was really cool that they did such a graphical update to their games in the HD collection.
Fell in love with them, even serious sam 2 (the first half has to be the lowest point in the series, the second, from the middle earth to the end, is probably the peak).
>>3559609
Nice
Did anyone ever make an exploit to allow the Transfer Pak to play GB games that aren't Pokemon?
you need an everdrive or similar
patch your rom to have the pokemon file header
use the feature in pokemon stadium. it works i saw a guy on youtube
>>3559112
Why would you want to do this? The Stadium 1/2 GameBoy Tower is just an emulator.
>>3559127
Not that guy, but you can run games at 2x or 3x. I'm sure you could do that with an emulator, though. Plus, I think it would be kind of neat.
I have no words to describe how much I hate those things.
>>3558824
Yeah they're quite unpleasant. Seems like Valve took notes seeing as how they put their equivalent, the headcrab into every fucking vent.
how hard is it to just mighty boot them off your face?
That walking Hand in Blood is way way worse.
What are your thoughts on these early NES games? (1985-1987)
Super Mario Bros. was a classic and I do enjoy playing it to this day, despite it being super simple.
Duck Hunt was a fun game, but I hated the dog.
The Legend of Zelda was a game that I never played until last year. I enjoyed playing it and I do think it's a classic. Another thing I liked about the game was the boss battles, they were fun.
Mike Tyson's Punch Out is my all time favorite NES game. I have beaten Tyson multiple times and I never get tired of it. I thought the graphics for the characters were amazing for the time, the music was catchy, and it is very addicting.
I enjoyed Metroid and it's the only game in the series I have beaten.
I liked Excitebike, mostly because you can design your own tracks. It's sad that you can't save it though.
Castlevania was a challenging game and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere in the game was so cool!
I did not like Top Gun. I thought it was boring and I could never land the plane.
I hated The Karate Kid. It was frustrating, boring, and it's made by LJN. It also has a crappy ending.
Overall, I am mixed on the early NES games. There are some I really like and there are some that I am bored with.
Why these nine in in particular, OP? It's an odd assortment - 7 of them which are hailed classics, and two crappy movie tie-ins.
>>3558830
I wanted to mix the good and bad together
>>3558813
You need to include 83 and 84 to get the actual early stuff.
>Arranged Mode with harder versions of the normal levels and added levels from Ghosts and Goblins/ Ghouls and Ghosts (and you only need to make one loop instead of two)
>portable
>fixed the magical torch doing less damage during a double jump instead of more
>you can save the game if you want
>>3558467
ports done right but this posts done wrong. you have to finish with gold armour to play the old levels. no mas. go /v/
>>3558473
The top path is for people who got gud, you need not apply
>>3558467
Did they fix the slowdown
When will you admit that Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is actually the greatest GnG game of all time, /vr/?
>>3558424
When will you admit that creating these bait threads to make Nintendo fans appear bad isn't quite working?
>>3558445
>isn't quite working?
Yet you replied.
>>3558445
>to make Nintendo fans appear bad
Nintendo fans already do that enough themselves.
They are quite possibly the dumbest fanbase.
