Developed from the same team that made Assault Suit Leynos and Langrisser.
You can even give commands to units that have already moved.

Awesome, I love Langrisser. Have you played this game? What's it like?
I don't know this game (yet) but this is wonderful news nonetheless. Congrats to the guys responsible!
Background on this?
Are these the best SNES games?
>>3564347
if by "best" you mean "most popular"
>>3564347
A few questions:
1. Why do you ask this? Why do you care?
2. Do you really want to know the opinion of some anonymous faggots you never interact with? Sounds pretty worthless to me?
3. What would you do if some said "yes"? And what if others said "no"?
4. Did this thread even serve a purpose?
What retro gaming console would be best for me?
I am someone who only plays video games rated E for Everyone (K-A kids to adults) in the ESRB.
I hate all RPG games.
I like games that easy and straightforward.
I like games without any strategy.
and I like racing games and sports that are realistic (Nothing Arcade)
Modded Wii.
>>3564253
>I like racing games and sports that are realistic
Sounds like retro is not for you.
Is this supposed to be a troll?
>>3564263
I'm not a troll.
It is I do not like the arcade style games.
well, I do not like anything online on consoles.
and I prefer directness and not be with annoying updates or DLC useless
I'm having a duel in HoM&M 3 with friend of mine in two hours. I play this game for over fifteen years and he think he's some hot shit, so I want to stomp his lil' boipucci.
I was thinking about Necropolis with Isra, because of Necromancy, or Tower with Neela, because of Armorer specialty.
Or maybe Dessa/Gundula/Crag Hack for smaller maps and rush?
What do you guys think? Also Heroes of Might and Magic 3 thread.

Go Inferno
>>3564246
Well memed, my friend.
If you think you're that good, you can surely beat him with Inferno.
It's most likely for ps1

Never heard of it, but it looks a bit too slow-paced to give it a try.
What are the best monster capture games for snes, a swag system or game boy? Lookin for something to emulate on my phone
>>3563996
On the GBC, aside from the obvious Pokemon, there's Dragon Warrior Monsters 1 and 2. Spent countless hours on that.

Setting up a surround sound system and realized that some SNES games and some N64 games take advantage of this.
I know Ocarina of Time specifically has a sound option you can switch to surround.
I keep reading conflicting reports about needing "dolby pro-logic" and other shit I don't understand.
Does anyone on here know if this receiver will handle N64 surround?
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-Receivers/Pioneer+Receivers/VSX-1130-K
My N64 is using RGB.
Your receiver has Dolby Pro-Logic IIz, an enhanced and improved version of Dolby Pro-Logic.
The extra channels are encoded in the regular analog stereo signals that are sent through the composite cables, but if the receiver (e.g. your TV) doesn't support Pro Logic it will just play the stereo left/right channels and ignore the others. If you hook it up the a Pro Logic receiver it will be able to decode the extra channels.
Once decoded you had left and right stereo, a center channel, and a very limited mono rear channel. Pretty impressive for the time. The Water Temple was a great place to check it out as you would hear falling water all around you from the rear channels.
While most AV preamps can decode Dolby Pro Logic today, it is not considered the best format for surround sound, as there are both lossless and lossy codec, such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio and even Dolby Digital that do a better job with surround effects, specifically providing less compression to the sound and allowing discrete audio for each of the 7.1 channels in a system.
>>3563650
So the N64 will give me surround sound even if the receiver only has Dolby Pro-Logic IIz?
yes any DPL and up receiver can handle retro surround.
What is it that makes this game so fun and addicting? My best friend and I used to play it for hours on 2p mode when we were young.
It's really not. I just tried to replay it the other day and got bored within the first screen.
Co-Op, lots of interactivity between environment, players and npcs, weapons, hazards, butt crack

Get friends bro
I have a feeling that I am the only one here who has played this. It's an old RPG on saturn. I was obsessed with it despite the awful load times. The music was great though. Anyone ever play it?
I own it, its a pretty fun game, shame about that working designs translation, though
I owned it. Loved the music and scrolling clouds\shadows. Wouldn't mind a Steam rerelease. Not Chrono trigger epic but a good romp to tide over the Sega faithful
I remember it being mildly pleasant. Nothing special but nothing really bad about it either. Kinda the same way I feel about Lufia.
Thoughts on this? Got a copy of it today, I'm loving it so far. Looks like SoTN but plays like the original Castlevania. I like it.
Inferior to Rondo of Blood in most ways; the controls are stiff, the enemy placement and level design are bullshit, and only one playable character.
>>3563048
controls are the same as rondo, fuck off
also maria is for casuals
>>3563048
This is the most common opinion on this game, but I actually think it can be viewed as an addendum to Rondo, rather than "le bad port" meme.
The controls are just what you'd expect from a classicvania. The enemy placement and enemy design is challenging (unlike Rondo which for the most part is too easy) and has a bunch of new bosses that are fun to fight. Also replay value because of different paths. No playable loli though, but you can rescue her (and it's a lot harder than rescuing her on Rondo).
If you never played Rondo, you should play it before this one. But if you liked it, then you should go back to Dracula X.
A solid entry in the series that's strangely a bit underrated.
I can't decide between 2 and The Room. I'm also pretty nostalgic of the first one.
What do you guys think?
>>3562910
3 > 2 > 1 > 4
Not that I consider The Room to be a bad game, I just liked the others more.
>>3562910
>female pyramid head
I DIDNT KNOW I WANTED THIS
The one that's actually retro.
Thread for those epic retro game find stories
I found a mint condition big box copy of pictured at a thrift store, it had all the paperwork and everything even the receipt! Also picked up a big box copy of Hexen 2 and one other game I don't remember right now, was a good day.
I came across sealed copies of the X-Com 1 cdroms or 2 dollars each on a clearance rack at a Target... over 15 years ago.
Even in 1996 you could find X-COM, MoM, and MoO in the $10 bins. Microprose games always got cheap instanty.
OP here, guess I should make clear my find was recent, not when the games came out
Let's talk old skool Dragon Quest.
I've beaten I-V except for II. I'm thinking of emulating the SNES version, how long do you think it'll take?
>>3562768
We already have a DQ thread, check the catalog before making a thread.
For II on snes beware of a nasty game breaking glitch. At one point in tbe game you meet another npc of the prince of cannock WHILE the prince is in your party. Dnot talk to him, your file will be corrupt. II takes around 15-20 hours, kinda short. Do be aware II is the most disliked of the series and for good reason, it'll take commitment. After that I reccomend playing VII, my personal favorite DQ. VI is okay but VII is a real classic, the 3ds version is recommended to in my opinion.
Play the GBC version.
I know lots of indie-type games are done in a "retro" 8-bit or 16-bit style, but are there any that try to emulate the look/feel of 5th Gen 3D?
I know a lot of people dislike that look and claim that it's aged poorly, but I personally find it quite charming,
Might no. 9. Kek
Pixel shit is easy to do. Old school polygons take effort. No indie dev is willing to go that far.
>>3562643
>Pixel shit is easy to do. Old school polygons take effort.
Bull. Polygon animations are a case of mathematics, while sprite animation is completely manual sans copy/pasting some things. The hard part about polygons is the textures.
