My step brother set up a tournament for his birthday one year. He gave himself Ryu and picked who everyone else got to use. Since I was the best with Chun Li and worst at Guile, he assigned Chun to one of his friends who was new and stuck me with Guile. The whole thing was just so he could win and feel special.

I taught the friend how to use Chun and brushed up on my Guile. Right off he lost to both of us, stormed off and the rest of the afternoon I just played random SF matches with his friends.

No but I've played ST in real tournaments.

No I've never won an ST tournament.

The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Half-Life and Riven.
The first two really helped me form my political views and the other two became my game design handbook.

Does anyone know if there are scans of club capcom magazines out there? I'm specifically looking for rare breath of fire art, like the ones in this issue, but anything and everything would be great.

Has anyone played the Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2 fan game that came out not too long ago? If so, thoughts?

I'm going to give it a blast once my Mega Everdrive arrives.

ITT: Retro gamer trivia.

The game released as "Super Mario Bros. 2", in North America, was originally conceived as Japanese Famicom Disk System title, named "Doki Doki Panic". The game that was known as "The Lost Levels" on the NA version of "Super Mario All-Stars" is actually the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2, also for the Famicom Disk System.

In Final Fantasy 7 if the player acquired both the Underwater Materia and Bahamut Zero, then raised both materia's AP to the maximum of 9,999/9,999 they could bypass the fish in the Forgotten City (Bahamut Zero would make a growling noise, effectively "scaring" it away) at which point Cid would dive into the water with the Underwater Materia, collecting Aeris's body and the fallen White Materia. She could then be brought back to her home in the Midgar Slums and brought back to life with the White Materia.

Aeris dies

Michael Jackson created the soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as well as Sonic and Knuckles, but was not credited due to "being a nigger." This was the catalyst for Jackson's lifelong pursuit of whiteness.

Have you get over retro-gaming? Would you, for example, feel better if a game from a 90s franchise was released with a retro-aesthetic?

>>
retro aesthetics-fetishism is cancer. i play old games simply because they are better
>>
>>4191958
I have become uninterested in newer games and find myself replaying older titles (and before nostalgia blindness is brought up, I have never stopped playing the older titles).

Maybe its because some newer games are rushed out, broken, and fixed later in patches. Maybe its because some have content locked behind paywalls. Maybe it's the steam like indie games that seem more like half games. Maybe i just miss the days when games were released generally bug free, and as complete as possible.

I don't know, I don't think a retro-esque title mimicing a 90's franchise is going to interest me. All newer games just feel the same to me now, regardless of genre or theme. Nothing the came out on PS3, PS4, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU really seemed unique. It all just blends together in a cluster fuck of mediocrity. At least thats my opinion any way.

Why are there two boards? Is this like 3D chess or something?

Also what do the grey pieces above the border mean? I assumed they're captured pieces like in chess/checkers, but if so, why Blue has only three pieces?

Care to explain the rules of the game, I'm intrigued.

I was surprised to learn the original version had unlimited continues. The game is so much nicer to the player than the previous entries, I figured it was designed around having limited continues in the first place.

Why did Rubicante, a human, become one of the Four Fiends?

The "Ten Most Popular Characters" poll in volume 18 of FF News had Rubicante scoring an impressive 8th place, even as a villain. This week's issue is dedicated to the leader of Golbeze's Four Fiends, Rubicante of the Flame. What caused Rubicante, who was once human, to turn to darkness?
Rubicante's father was one of the five greatest black mages in the world and a master of water magic. He was forced into rigorous magical study from a young age, and before long became filled with bitter resentment for his father. He developed an extreme hatred of water magic, his father's specialty, and began to take an interest in fire magic, its polar opposite.
His contempt for his father led to Rubicante leaving his home, swearing to hone his fire magic and surpass his father, and made his way alone to Mysidia.
Rubicante began his training under the tutelage of Min-u, the Mysidian elder, and within only five years was able to master black magic. He excelled at fire magic and developed his own offensive spell, "Scorch," and came to be known as the "Rubicante of the Flame" by his fellow mages.
After mastering black magic, gaining command over fire, and surpassing even his father, Rubicante set his sights on his next goal: becoming a paladin. As a top-tier black mage, he was certain he had the strength needed to become a paladin. Disregarding the warnings of the elder, he set off for Mt. Ordeals.
However, he was ultimately unable to conquer the trial necessary to become a paladin, and was gravely injured. This was when Rubicante first felt the sting of his own foolishness, and of human weakness.

Meeting Golbeze

A man had been watching Rubicante. Golbeze. He kept close watch on Mt. Ordeals from atop the Tower of Babil, and whisked the injured Rubicante away to his tower.
At Golbeze's command, Dr. Lugae surgically enhanced Rubicante's body, rescuing him from the brink of death and gifting him with a new, stronger, monstrous body.
Together with three other monsters, Rubicante would go on to become the leader of Golbeze's Four Fiends.

This is rad, I fucking love lore
