The left is for several games. I don't follow Rockman X prices now, but that seems a bit high?

Regardless, I assume you're referring to the price disparity between JP and US games. There are many factors, ranging from relative scarcity to popularity within their respective regions. Perhaps it is as simple as western collectors being more ravenous and driven by nostalgia, making them only attracted to the US versions. Or maybe they think that only the US version will give them hipster e-cred.

That being said, sometimes things are flipped. Look up pricing of the US and JP releases of Comix Zone and The Ooze.

>lot of mega man x games
>just rockman x

I don't know though, all the Mega Man games for SNES and PS1 are pretty expensive in pal reigons too though. I guess it's just a popular IP to collect

Its worse in all ways but it had a backlit screen. Buttons are mushy, sound is off, aspect ratio is wrong, headphone jack doesnt cut out the speaker, and ive heard a few people mention theres broke within a few weeks.

>Loved Gauntlet, played the NES port... Wow, it is bland.
>Play the SNES port of Smash TV, I LOVE IT!
>Find a pile of Midway arcade compilations at game shops.
>Own a few Atari 2600 games, notice a bunch of the titles are on compilations too.

Are console ports even worth buying anymore? Some games like Bionic Commando and Ninja Guidan, I feel are better on the NES. However, Gauntlet and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles felt really dodgy on the NES.

Rarely, in specific situations where the port is better like you mentioned. Bionic Commando is a great example

sometimes, if we're talking cart based and early CD based arcade ports, there's a novelty and charm to them, even if they are arguably inferior versions.

i especially see this in 2600 ports of arcade games, like commando.

Sorry to kill some KOF thread but I gotta get my answer somwhere.

I'm using BSNES and for some reason whenever I go into fullscreen mode it applies that shitty smoothing shit on top of everything. When it's windowed the game looks just fine, I don't use any filters or anything and I got no idea how to get it to stop that shit. How I make it so fullscreen mode keeps the video sharp and crisp?
I'm asking because I'm trying to play Terranigma for the first time
3 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>4195532
bsnes usually has a setting for bilinear filtering in the options, but you probably already have that disabled. IIRC it also has different renderers. Default is probably OpenGL, so you could try changing that too.

It's also possible this is a GPU driver setting, so try looking there as well.

If none of that works there are other emulators/frontends out there. BizHawk and Mednafen are respectable and both use bsnes cores, there's also RetroArch. Snes9x will also work.

Nevermind I fixed it, apparently BSNES has Smooth Video Output separate for both windowed and fullscreen. Guess I accidentally hit the hotkey for it last time I used it for Secret of Mana.

It's a love hate relationship. Importing shit was fucking hard in the 90s.

The fact that it was such a clusterfuck system but still had quality games is a testament to Sega's tenacity. It could've easily been as bad as n64.

When I first played this game, I was in love. It felt like an evolution of the 2D Zelda games, but with a more refined, mature twist. However, after putting about 60 hours in, collecting everything and beating the game, I have come to one conclusion: this game is fucking shit.

>Puzzles are often counter-intuitive and messy. There are times when you'll wander a dungeon for 30 minutes, having explored every nook and cranny, only to have to go back in a room you just came out of for Meia to appear. What the fuck?
>Likewise, many puzzles are designed horribly and can be bypassed with simple jumps/exploits.
>Tons of under-developed ideas. "drops of life" that do nothing and appear every 30 hours from cutting grass, magic crystals that only drop from two objects in the game, etc.
>Bleak, washed-out color palette
>Dungeons are samey and lack unique aesthetics
>Reused assets abound, everything from sprites to textures
>Very little enemy variety, and about 4 bosses that are constantly recycled
>Lack of clear directons, even after talking to townspeople or using the psychic
>Alundra's sprite doesn't change when you get new weapons or armor
>Repetitive and tedious. Dungeons drag on forever, puzzle designs are constantly reused.
>Poor jumping mechanics. Some jumps can only be cleared if Alundra's sprite is visibly standing off of a ledge, hovering in mid-air.
>Inconsistent number/quality of rewards. You'll go hours and hours without a new toy, and then be given three in the span of 30 minutes.
>Gloves and aqua cape are passive abilities, but for some reason you can still equip them... useless items that clutter inventory.
>Gilder is found in ludicrous quantities, you can keep 9,999 of it, and you have absolutely nothing to spend it on other than cheap potions and gambling which actually gives you even more money.

I can't believe you faggots shill this game so hard. It has absolutely nothing on the best 2D Zeldas, not even fucking close.

Can you think of a better alternative? (No, not Gunman's Proof)
>>
>>4193696
Yes, I can: Oracle of Seasons, A Link to the Past, Landstalker, even fucking Beyond Oasis. But this? No, it's just too fucking broken. It's a messy, cobbled-together, poorly-assembled anal shit splatter of a game whose massive flaws overwhelm every positive attribute it has tenfold. Almost any alternative is better.

They could have made it great. It could have been the true 2D Zelda killer. They could have cut the game in half, spent more time refining it and making quality dungeons/puzzles instead of messy bullshit, and it would have been awesome. Instead, they fucked up.
>>

>I can't believe you faggots shill this game so hard.
It's a decent enough game on it's own merit.
>It has absolutely nothing on the best 2D Zeldas, not even fucking close.
It really doesn't. The only thing the two games share is the perspective and some of the gameplay.
It's your fault for playing while comparing it to Zelda instead of enjoying it as it is.
You might as well compare any racing game to Outrun and whine about them too.

So how does /vr/ feel about projection HDTV's when it comes to running old consoles? I have a 65" Samsung projection TV (unknown model # ATM) that I've played my N64 on, and holy shit the upscaling ruins the experience, but I didn't notice any lag.

What's the best CRT tv I could get with $60?
78 posts and 10 images submitted.
>>
Depends on your definition of best. Despite the explosion in price you should be able to get a smallish (10-14 inch) pro monitor online for $60 but you should also be able to get practically any size high quality consumer CRT (or much less) for $60 locally.
>>
>>4193324
Consumer? The sky's the limit with that kind of dosh. Pro? Not a very big one but PVMs can be had for that amount. Here's an idea, go on ebay and look up pro monitors.
>>
>>4193324
Finding a good CRT is less about money and more about your time and resources. If you have the time and the place to put it you can get some of the best of the best for... sometimes nothing at all.
