How do you guys replay games you've already beaten? Doesn't it get tedious as fuck?

About 2 months ago, I beat Deus Ex. Had a blast. Beat it again a few days later using different strategies. Enjoyed every minute of it, and thought to myself "Wow, this game is infinitely replayable. I think I found the the video game equivalent of a soulmate."

Skip to this morning, I reinstalled the game, remembering all the fun I had with the game 2 months ago......... LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE.

Tedious as fuck. Could not be bothered to get past Liberty Island.

Hmm... maybe I'll replay Might & Magic 6.... reinstall..... start game.......... HOLY SHIT JUST KILL ME. Fucking TEDIOUS as fuck.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy platformers, beat'em ups, pinball, etc. I can play those games a hundred times and not find it tedious. Probably because they only take a couple hours to beat. But when it comes to games that take several days or weeks to finish, I just cannot bring myself to replay them.

I have 3 "[XXXXX] in one" PAL bootleg consoles I bought the mid 1990s. how do I rom dump them since I can't play any because the controllers are broken, and the ones that do have flaws I'm a bit worried about

Licensed games are generally hit or miss but this one is a hit

Can I get some pointers for playing this game? I've been interested in it for years but every time I try to play I get overwhelmed by the controls and weapons and get owned and stop playing a few bosses in.

Full heal before each boss is crucial
Learning Dash teleport is crucial.
Dash teleport at full health is the Key of the game mechanic. It a OP attack. when placed at the right moment it can empty half the boss health or even One shoot kill it.
Learn which boss and demi boss attacks can been leeched for health. so you can use you Dash teleport attack asap.
Each weapon has limited ammo.
Each new weapon grabbed on a level remplace you current weapon.
If the Weapon used match the weapon grabbed it restore all ammo and upgrade the capacity of the weapon by 250 point (cape at 2000 points.)So wait for the right upgrade.
2 flames 1 homing 1 lazer force are the combinaison I use the most.

It's not a game you finish in the afternoon. it take some practice but it is sooo much fun.

Keep at it. Seriously just keep at it. I fucking hated this game at first but the more practice I put into it the more I loved it.

Which games would /vr/ say had their favorite types of boss fights?
Doesn't seem too common, but I like it where games like pic related and Jetman the boss battles would have different gameplay and you fight the boss in a giant form.

When you are about to lose, but suddenly spark some amazing skill since there's a higher chance in boss battles. Having 11 different boss themes is also a plus.

Or something unusual happens and the fight gets more interesting, like in the picture.

Is it worth trying to get into with all the untranslated games out there?

Are you trying to bait me into letting the other anon call me out for a repost of this pic? In that case the series: a pedantic, pontificating, pretentious bastard, a belligerent old fart, a worthless pile of cow dung ... figuratively speaking.

Notice how there's no one else responding to this thread regarding to this series. No one played the games. Those that have played it like I don't care enough about it either, and probably feels their time wasted could have better spent on other games.

For a dating game, one would think they'd design likable waifu tier characters, but no, they are variations of bland taken from a "how to design anime character" Japanimation amerimanga book. Sega threw the whole miniscule budget just to get the artist from You're Under Arrest and Aa! My Goddess to draw some characters just because he was hot shit at the time but never going so far as to develop any of them. It would be nice if the SRPG elements had any tactics to them, but they are all relatively straightforward with one solution throwing strategy or tactics out the window. So that throws both the visuals and gameplay out the window for anything worthwhile, so that leaves sound where they wanted inexperienced voice actresses which can sing, so essentially they hired probably the cheapest people they can get to do voice work. Understandable given Sega's shoestring budget, but when the Dreamcast rolled around, they went and blew all of Isao's money on Shenmue and Sakura Taisen 3, and all they had to show for it was a pretty cool non-grid combat system, but what a way to end a guy's life bankrupting him, Isao died so Sega can piss it all away. While the LIPS system was nice to make conversations more naturalistic, in the end it didn't provide a compelling story. I would dare say Walking Dead Season 2 on Xbox 360 is a significantly more compelling video game, so with all the haters of that game, you know where the Sakura Wars/Taisen games stand.

It isn't really strategically/tactically complex at any level at all, so if you can't read the text, that's not going to be much draw to it.

I was interested in the series for the longest time because the premise sounds cool as fuck (Taisho era, waifus + mechs, what could go wrong?). However, as probably everyone already guessed, I never got into it because the games aren't translated. Consulting online translation guides while trying to play isn't my idea of having fun, so that's out as well. The only translated game (5) also sounds like the shittiest, and I have no interest in it.
I was hoping someone would pick the PS2 remake of 1 up for fan translation but that never happened either. Too bad, the opening animation and music of that game is the hypest thing ever.

I remember seeing a yt video years ago about some old rpg game (maybe 16 bit, not sure) and want to find out what game it is. Here is everything that I can recall:
- the video was about a guy in the village who only made a few appearances and only made depressing comments
- time went by in the game by seasons and/or years with different events/player decisions happening scattered throughout
- pretty sure the game mostly took place in a single village, not sure what the objective of the game was
- not sure if this part is true or me imagining things, but i believe there was a scene in the gameplay where there was a cave/ massive hole in the ground with machinery or a robot in it

Back to Nature and Magical Melody are the best I have played. The SNES game has some charm for being the first one, but all around I can take the nostalgia glasses off and see it is inferior to some later installments in the series.
