It isn't perfect, but I had hard time understanding how to draw him at first. The artwork is a bit inconsistent too: Ridley doesn't even have a set color, and while he used to be more like a dragon now he has human-like body.
After some time pondering it and looking at different pictures, I figured out Ridley was basically like a demon/imp with a pterodactyl head.
But then I realized he also had that weird pterodactyl neck, which basically folds in 3 parts, and attaches to his body in a pretty peculiar spot. That's when problems began.
So all in all, I still have hard time putting a whole image of him in my head. I feared I'd miss some important details, and in result most would simply not understand/recognize it's indeed Ridley from Metroid and not some random demon/monster.

The Fantastic Four models I talked about.

Although more /co/ than /vr/, the awful PS Fantastic Four game inspired me to create a good, true-to-comics Fantastic Four game to celebrate Jack Kirby's 100th birthday this year. I tried to create something that would run on a Dreamcast, inspired by Jet Set Radio. Yep, one way or another, this is /vr/ fanart.

Although I will stay true to Kirby's designs, I will restrict myself to characters from his run.
The model artstyle was inspired by the great The New Yorker cartoonist Peter Arno. Why? Because I really likes his style and he embodies the classic american cartoon art really well, while the FF are the typically american family characters from the 50's thrown in the 60's madness and psychedelia.
Why not just imitating Kirby style? Well, I don't like to just ape things, to be too obvious, I wanted to do something different, and I'm not Kirby, I would not be able to copy him. Arno is really close to my style, influenced me since I was a child and his highly stylized art lends really well to low poly 3D modeling.

Thanks. I tried to emulate the original art by Ken Watanabe, as I love his art and hate how Palmon looks in the animu. But I still haven't finished the texture, as it still lacks veins and highlights and some details here and there.
And after it's finished I will draw a low resolution (128x128) texture.

My 3D "sweet spot" is the Dreamcast, as I can keep the low poly look that I like but also use some effects that would be impossible on the Playstation, like the inverted hull outlines used in Jet Set Radio.

Actually, anon (s), I'm having a really rough time since I lost everything in a flood last year. Although I won almost everything back from my friends, my life has never been the same after this happened. I'm constantly moving, I don't have money and it's hard to dedicate myself to 3D modeling when I'm after a place to move and don't even have a job. That's why I never finished the /vr/ Fighters models and that's why I'm not present here as I want to and why I never updated my tumblr.
Yes, I would like to work with 3D modeling. Although I don't consider myself a good 3D modeler (I'm a perfectionist), I know that I have a good aesthetic sense, I'm a quick learner and I'm "good enough" to work on indie games. BUT, to make things worse, I live in Brazil, and absolutely no indie developer is interested in my low poly work, as their nostalgia tainted Genesis... sorry, Mega Drive-addicted minds can't understand anything that isn't a (backed by some webceleb) pixelshit shameless ripoff of older games that they've been playing for their entire miserable lives.
Yes, I could try and develop my own games, but I don't have time to do it. In my spare time I try to learn 3D and Unity, but I don't have time to actually do something. And that hurts, as I have plenty of good original ideas with my own characters, besides some homages here and there, like the Fantastic Four game and some fanart.

Well, I'm also an actor, theatre actor, but this is a job that not only doesn't pay well but something that doesn't pay monthly. I'm also a good singer, I have a really good voice (sounding like a classical american 50's speaker and pretty similar to Sinatra when singing, but lacking his technique), but Brazilians HATE this. Until about 20 years ago some radio station would give me a job, but now I would be better if I was a semi-literate skinny pot smoking crack addicted brazilian funk singer.

Sorry, I just had to let off some steam. And explain why I always post the same models and almost don't do requests.

Here's something I did for a friend, trying to ape Playstation and Sega Saturn games and using his character.
Although it's not retro (and I think non-retro material doesn't belong here), I do consider it retro fanart as I did it specifically as a homage to 32 bit-era consoles (an alternate reality where Tectoy actually bought Sega and developed a Brazilian Sega Saturn). If it's not true enough to those consoles that's because I don't know how to emulate some limitations on 3ds max.
The textures were inspired by the Digimon World textures to achieve a pretty "low end" result. And it's still not complete.

you have actual skills bro more than most anons. It sounds like you are a hard worker and Im sure something good will happen for you. Maybe you could work remotely for some indie game if you can find a programmer or studio and show them your models/portfolio. That /vr/ fighter mock up was 10/10 and more indie devs are moving to 3D unity lately since its easy to start with. You might even be able to do voice acting for games since you have a background in acting.
