>spending hours talking to NPC and explore areas to find out how to advance the story. In the meantime, found a sidequest .
>Go straight to mission markers show on the map. And also you have all the list of main quest and sidequests.

But its close to non-existent today. I wonder why everything is so convenient these day that i takes the enjoyment out of it.

lol the bitching never ever stops around here
Was Dreamcast the best console for fighting games? Ofc not taking arcade into comparisson.
saturn was better, superior 6-button layout
>>4223589
I had this in mind until finding about this. I'm more concerned about game catalog though.

The Best retro console for fighting games?
Yes, but only because PS2 is not retro for /vr/
What is it about DQ3 that makes it so beloved and well-received among all the other DQ games? Not to put it down or anything, I love it to death, but what about games like 4 or 6? Were they just not received as well as 3?
It's the most customizable game in the series.
You have to realize that when this game came out there was literally no JRPG that could even compare. Like literally name on JRPG that even comes close.
The party custimsztion allows for a lot of options with plenty of replay value to boot
World map exploration is excellent and the world is just the perfect size not too big and not to small
Battle mechanics are well balanced and any combanition of parties can work
Nonlinear but not aimless or pointless
Amazing music, compare the battle them of 3 to the last 2 DQ games
A real genuine plot twist that is actually unexpecting and leads into at least 6 or so more hours of playtime
Is it a perfect game? No but for the time it was incredibly well balanced and polished and it's no surprise to see why the series built upon the formula 3 created

Ultima 3 for the Famicom came out a few months earlier.
What's the best way to play Sonic 3 and/or Knuckles?
Knuckles routes are totally short, underused and not that much harder than the Sonic routes.
Best is to delete that rom and download Mario instead because Sanic was never good.

Holy crap, I haven't thought about Populous in ages.
>>4222714
So I picked this bad boy up months ago for like, $5, but it sat on my shelf forever because my backlog was already huge as-is.
Finally played it today and I'd give it a solid 3/5, despite some bullshit. It's no Ehrgeiz, but I'd recommend it.
Does anyone have any other relatively obscure fighters I should know about before I dive dick-first into Shadow of the Colossus?
Asuka 120% is like a proto anime fighter.
Tobal No. 2 if you like being ass raped by the CPU, there's a Quest mode that plays like an RPG with a fighting game battle engine.
>>4222536
>Asuka 120%
Looks like a hentai game, man.
>Tobal No. 2
Should I...get the first one, first?
Rival Schools is super smooth tag team Street Fighter, there's a dating sim mode but it's Japanese only. You can do super combos with the shoulder buttons.
Battle Arena Toshinden 3 and 4 are easy games for newbs, there's lots of anime characters and you can assign special moves to the shoulder buttons. Don't get the Europe release as it's slow.
Does anyone else find Tomb Raider on PS1 comfy as fuck? I don't know what it is about those low-resolution rock textures, but I just love it. And this is coming from someone who didn't even grow up with it.
What are the comfiest 5th gen games?
The Spyro trilogy is still really comfy to play.
I'm starting to hate the term "comfy" but I see where you're coming from, unfiltered low-res textures are pretty charming.

they were too nerve-racking for me when I was a kid
the sharks, yetis, demons, mutants, huge enviroments, limited visibility and darkness were nightmare fuel to me
also no sound except some ambient music and the DANGER MUSIC OUT OF NOWHERE!!!
goddamn fuck that DUN NUN NUN string music when enemies appear, or floating islands theme
Remember them?
What are your favorite titles? Any memories?
Spy Fox was always my favorite
When I was little my aunt gave us the first Pajama Sam point-and-click. I thought it was really fun. I was impressed that there was no HUD (except when you checked your inventory), and I thought it was like playing a cartoon. I had fun playing it with my sisters.
Comfiest games ever. The scratchy highly compressed sound only makes it more dreamy somehow.

I just beat Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. I love the old west theme. What are some classic /vr/ western games?
>Cowboy Kid
>Wild Gunman
>Gunsmoke
>Gunman's Proof
>this one chapter of Live-A-Live
I'm sure there's gotta be more.
Forgot Sunset Riders too, that's a classic.
Wild Guns, lad.

does Wild Arms count?
So I grew up on Super Mario World on the GBA and I acquired a SNES later on, but never bothered to play SMW on it because I had already spent so much time on the GBA port that I saw no point to it.
However, not long ago I decided to play it from start to finish on the SNES, and I noticed that you cannot just press start and save whenever you want (in the overworld) as you can do in the GBA port. You have to backtrack to the nearest Ghost Mansion in order to save your progress either because you want to turn off the SNES or because you got few lives left.
Now why is this necessary? Why can't you save whenever you want? It doesn't make the game harder in the slightest to have to go back to a Ghost Mansion in order to save, it's just very tedious. At least they got the courtesy to let you save every other level in the Special World, but I don't see any reason they omitted this feature. It certainly is not because of some technical restraint.
>>4221042
You fail to realize that SMB3 had no saving. It had warp whistles. Saving at special points is already an improvement and discourages from savescumming.
>>4221042
>It certainly is not because of some technical restraint
Are you sure
>>4221047
Why would there be considering you get the option to save every time you beat a castle or ghost mansion?
Ugly retro sprites thread. I'll start with Sonic in Sonic Spinball.
Looks edgier than the Japanese happy Sonic. I like it.
it me, mugu mun

Sonic has always been more grim in-game than on the box.

Alright niggers, I finally got ahold of a Amiga 500+. What's some needed parts or games for the system? Looking at a Vampire 2 and network adapter right now, but don't know what else there is that's needed parts wise.

Captive :

It's a pretty good dungeon crawler.
Also, for how much did you get it?
>>4220301
30 at a yard sale. Came with a fuck ton of stuff alongside it, since they didn't know what to do with it.
>>4220305
Nice.
When it comes to recommendations, don't bother with shit like Turrican and other stuff. There are a whole lot of good amiga games, but many of the games that get recommended aren't.
If you are into RPGs, you might want to try shit like the amber series too.
is this thing good for emulation
Yes it emulates a vibrator flawlessly. Just ask your mother about it.
Best cost benefit relation if you can find one for 50 bucks
>>4218326
It's excellent for it. If you don't want to get into the technical side of emulation and just want something that is "very good" it's the way to go.
