So I picked this bad boy up months ago for like, $5, but it sat on my shelf forever because my backlog was already huge as-is.
Finally played it today and I'd give it a solid 3/5, despite some bullshit. It's no Ehrgeiz, but I'd recommend it.
Does anyone have any other relatively obscure fighters I should know about before I dive dick-first into Shadow of the Colossus?
Asuka 120% is like a proto anime fighter.
Tobal No. 2 if you like being ass raped by the CPU, there's a Quest mode that plays like an RPG with a fighting game battle engine.

>Asuka 120%
Looks like a hentai game, man.
>Tobal No. 2
Should I...get the first one, first?
Rival Schools is super smooth tag team Street Fighter, there's a dating sim mode but it's Japanese only. You can do super combos with the shoulder buttons.
Battle Arena Toshinden 3 and 4 are easy games for newbs, there's lots of anime characters and you can assign special moves to the shoulder buttons. Don't get the Europe release as it's slow.
I'll just dump a bunch of anime shit here. They're all right. Maybe it interests you.

I wish, it's just an air dashing anime fighter with all girl cast. Like a proto melty blood or marvel vs capcom if you will.

>Proto Melty Blood
Alright, it has my attention.
Destrega is a projectile based fighter. Really different, nothing else plays like like it.
SlapHappy Rhythm Busters is like a cell shaded 2D fighter, one of the super combos turn it into a rhythm game.
Bushido Blade is a realistic Kendo fighter. 1 direct hit and you're out. Nothing else like it.
I read the post, then read the filename because I like reading filenames. Fuck you.
Thrill Kill is kinda like a wrestler. Has a finisher where a guy in a straitjacket rapes another character.

Why would you do the one thing I explicitly told you not to do, anon?
>>4222573
The sequel is pretty good, too. Maybe even better than the first.
Psychic Force 2012 it's like a free roaming fighter crossed with a shmup.

Advanced VG 2
Angel Eyes

>Why are you reading the filename instead of the post, anon.jpg
Because I was hoping you might have put the game's name in the file name. But it showed up on google so it isn't that big of a deal.
>>4222598
I can't read moon
>>4222620
You don't need to, it's a fighting game. I assure you the story is shit anyway.
>>4222639
Alright, I think I've got a pretty good list now.
Last Bronx seems to have disappeared into the trash bin of fighting game history, and I'm not sure if it's without good reason to. I was into it for a while as a kid, but I knew fuck all about what made a good fighting game back then. I only played LB because it was developed by the same team at Sega who made Virtual On.
>>4222927
I only remember last bronx for the tonfa nunchaku chick, I thought she was really cute.
you look great
I'm gonna get you
>>4222530
I remember that the reviews butchered this game like hell when it was released.
Specifically I remember one review recommending it only to people who were obsessed with everything with anime style.
>>4222941
They had a point, it is kind of a shitty weeabo game.
>>4222932
shes sexy how did sega make her body so smooth?
WakuWaku7 feels fun from what I have played.
>>4222585
Not a lot of people would agree with you, but I do. Unlocking all the characters in 2 is fun as fuck, I don't care about the lack of one open stage.

Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu
Joy Mech Fight
Power Instinct 2
Groove On Fight
Matrimelee
Shin Goketsuji Ichizoku: Bonno Kaiho
Goketsuji Ichizoku: Senzo Kuyo

Gotta add some love for SHRB, thats one of my fave PS1 fighters.

Not many people recommend it but I like the DOA series. The Dreamcast version being my favorite (speed) and the 3ds version as my goto just for convenience.
