ITT: Artwork from retro games
I know this is going to sound dumb, but I have some weird child like love of circus stuff and want more circus /vr/ stuff to play. This is a personal favorite, but I've played a couple of others too like Kickman and Circus Capers
The final stage of Psychonauts would also definitely tickle your fancy.
I love Circus Charlie too.
It's a unique kinda game. There's many games with circus stages or themes, but none of them is like Charlie.

Yeah, most of them are just *at* the circus. I'm definitely looking for something more on the lines of *in* the circus.
How do you manage your wires so it doesn't look like a giant tangled mess? im thinking about using this old 2" pvc pipe in the garage and shoving all the wires in there and tape it against the wall.
>>4219872
I don't have everything plugged in at the same time
Cable ties and wall mounts. If you're using power strips, those usually have nail slots for wall mounting. Cables and wires can usually be arranged somewhere behind the back panel of your desk or TV stand where they're slightly suspended out of sight.

Pretty much says it all. If you're using shelves or something that doesn't have a back, you can just staple up some cardboard or even just packing paper to the back.
is the "enhanced edition' the best way to play or is just modding the gog version the best?
They are both terrible.
Download the CD and install it from there. That's how you should play it.
>>4221942
Besides your nostalgia, is there a real reason why I should?
I have all 11 of my floppy disks for tie fighter. I could spend two hours installing it from there and potentially getting read errors and start over again, or I cod just install it from a zip file.
Heya, guys, how's your new old Starcraft?
I always wanted to be a good player in Starcraft but I was unhappy to learn that it requires mad mouse movements.
APM, actions per minute. The key to move from your 20 APM to 600 APM is to use your left hand for keyboard shortcuts. Careful with the red bull cans, you will end up in the EM.
>>4219740
what red bull cans?
>>4219740
Redbull is garbage anyway. Also you don't need to up to 600 APM. Literally that's like 90% wasted clicks anyway.
Telling your unit to move to some spot 9 times in a second isn't doing anything more than telling them to move to that spot once. Similarly if you're micro'ing for position, clicking rapidly back and fourth is rarely going to do anything unless said unit/group is extremely fast at responding and completing said movements and only matters if it's to outmatch another players micro to exploit range differences.
I just beat this game legit for the first time. I played it with savestates a while ago and thought it was incredibly difficult, but that's probably because I was too dumb to try the different weapons on different bosses. I was surprised how easy Wily is when you know which weapons he's weak to.
The only REALLY hard parts were the propeller platforms in Iceman's stage and Wily Castle 1.
Iceman was kind of tricky since I fought him first. Yellow Devil was tricky until I understood his pattern. Elecman seemed hard but I had Cutman's weapon which made the fight trivial. I thought the weird bubble machine was hard until I realized spamming the megabuster when was the best strategy.
Anyway, how are the other games in the series? How are the weird spin-offs, like Megaman and Bass, and the gameboy games, and the Gamegear game?
The sequels are even better, the Game Boy games are almost remakes and Megaman V Game Boy is a brand new game.
All Megaman games are worth playing once, even the stinkers like Megaman 7 and 8 at least are worth playing for the awesome production values.
>>4219470
>the Gamegear game?
THERE WAS A GAMEGEAR GAME?
How I was supposed to know that after I beat all bosses, get all hearts and sub tanks I'd get a fighting move if I finished this stage 5 times?
Is there even a hint inside the game?
>>4219338
You could have read EGM back then.
>>4219338
You're not, that's an easter egg.
That move is a bitch to execute and pull off, has limited range and you need to be in full health for it to trigger anyway. You're not supposed to rely on it too much.
No one ever talks about this series. Wasn't it Dark Souls before Dark Souls was a thing? What did DS do differently that King's Field apparently got wrong?
>inb4 'slow as shit'
Yeah, well this is /vr/. Most everything we play is sub-60fps.
>>4219319
>Wasn't it Dark Souls before Dark Souls was a thing?
No
>>4219325
was just about to post this
it's like DS without the stat autism and shitty save system
>>4219325
KF predates Severance as well
LOL

I like the effect, was actually explored really well by the art style in Soul Reaver.
you know tomb raider is on PC right
Apparently there are a few games that were improved upon when being converted for PAL release, namely Suikoden II containing several fixes to audio and text or Silent Hill restoring several lore bits not carried over to the NTSC release. Are there any more instances of this? I'm mostly interested in PS1 games because, lets be real, PAL games before Gen V were mostly plain terrible conversions.
MGS
>>4219046
Tenchu's PAL release had two new levels, Metal Gear Solid 2 had the bastard-hard European Extreme difficulty setting, and that's all I can think of. PAL versions getting new stuff was more a 2000s thing
This isn't uncommon. PAL games were released later, so of course they fix the bugs they missed.
This game will take your lunch money, fuck you in the ass and not even have the common courtesy to give you a reacharound.
The bundle with the Eye of the Beholder trilogy goes for 3€ right now. Is it worth buying? I want to play Lands of Lore, but seeing that that isn't on sale, I might as well get EotB instead. The only dungeon crawling games I've played are the Grimrock games.
>>4218673
>I want to play Lands of Lore, but seeing that that isn't on sale
Good God, the bundle with Lol2 is less than 6€
For the question, the first two EotB are literally history of videogames, super comfy games, the third is decent
Start with Dungeon Master. It's the grandfather of them all and and you can get it for free from here:

Not OP but which are worth getting out of those?
I was thinking that one of the things I feel like was lost in the last couple of generations is the sick ass covers that prevailed in the '80s & '90s. Granted, since a couple of decades ago, with magazines and mostly the internet games didn't need to rely on strong covers to catch your attention anymore, but for me it is always nice to have a strong cover to go with.
Even some of the weird stuff like the ultra simplistic SMS covers or the bizarre style that Capcom employed in some western covers like Megaman and Strider have some kind of soul to it.
Personaly I really like pic related, even if I was never into GnG. That cover just grabs you by the balls.
>>4218461
I've always secretly liked pic related, desu
>>4218461
You mean, you don't like generic covers that we get like this one nowadays?
This game is an objectively great game, yet it never gets any love. Is there a reason why that is?
It's an alright game, not that great. Being an obscure cartoon movie tie-in doesn't help.
>>4218274
it's not as great if you're expecting it to be great
it's sort of like a super ghouls and ghosts for children
that's about how good it is
milking it would only diminish it's value
>>4218279
>obscure
Little Nemo was a big deal hundred years ago.
Only the most rad games ITT.
Literally.
