This is such a relaxing and beautiful game. Let's talk about it.
I prefer beautiful and relaxing PC eroge with cute anime girls you can fuck.
There are no cute girls in this, don't like it.

Well this isn't the thread for you! Why in the heck!
I was not a Nintendo guy. In my childhood, I used to own a Master System and a Mega Drive, so I never played any Megaman game, except sometimes in friend's house.
So, now I'm playing Megaman X in X Collection for PS2.
This is such a great game. Planing to play every X game, because they all look cool.
Let's talk about Megaman here. After playing X, I'm going to play classic games.
I love X and it was the only X game I played as a kid (don't think X2 and X3 got released in the UK).
Recently tried running through X2 and X3 and something about them just feels off.
The average quality of the Mavericks is a lot lower, the levels don't feel as well designed.
There's some great new graphical effects and the soundtracks are great but that's about it for me.
Play X3 on a SNES Emulator, then play the one on X Collection.
They used the PS/Saturn version for the X Collection, which has remixes of the music and different sound, which honestly just doesn't fit well with the style of the 16bit X games.
That's not to say it's bad though, some of the different versions are alright, like Toxic Seahorse and Blizzard Buffalo.
Adapters in general? Tips and hints, good/shity3rd party adapters. for consoles.

What the hell am I supposed to play on this, Bed Bugs?
>>3975451
It would work perfectly fine for a Genesis 2.
So what's /VR/ think of the Commander Keen series? Just started playing and it's a pretty simple platformer. But I can appreciate the quality it must have had at the time of it's release.
Personally, the 4th and 1st games have a special place in my heart. I still own the floppy for the 4th game. Remember learning Tom Hall's "Standard Galactic Alphabet" as a young child, only to spot in again later as an adult in Minecraft. Almost bought a Green Bay Packer's helmet a couple years back, just to keep as a mantlepiece. The complete collection is on Steam if you want to play them all - 4 is probably the best for puzzles and secrets though. If you get them online as a free download, you'll only get half of each game - they were demos sent out and you used to have to mail-order for the second part. Fun stuff.

played them a LOT as a kid since that's what I had
good games far as I can remember
always hated how some of them (one and two I think?) had shooting mapped to ctrl+alt instead of it's own button
not like we're working with a fucking console here
you had a whole keyboard to work with, guys
>>3974796
I remember them being fun.
I've been playing Digital Devil Monogatari for Famicom on FCEUX 2.2.3 with an English translation patch and finally gotten to the last boss when... he just doesn't spawn.
I walked over to the "tile" where the dialogue before the finally boss battle is about to begin, but nothing happens. Any ideas, help?
Thought about using a password so I can see the end, because I don't want to drop the game right before the final boss.

do you have the dragon gem or whatever?

Yeah, I have a White Dragon Orb in my inventory
>>3974109
weird, i can't remember if you need to trigger it or something... Nice demons though, I loaded up your password.

What about it?
Good thread.

What kind of PC would gamers in the early 90s be using? I want to play Doom the most authentic way possible, using the equipment that people used at the time.
Just find a computer with doom's maximum recommended specs
Rich kid down the street had a dx2 66
So smooth, compared to my 486slc 25
>>3970303
DX2 is far from perfect for Doom though.
How do I get into the CRT hobby?
It sounds super comfy, and I see the CRT general threads all the time.
What should I look for in a CRT? What's good and not good? Is there a website I should go to?
>>3963950
I hope you realize this thread is just an invitation to autism.
>>3963950
Lad, CRTs are meme hardware. Save yourself the trouble and spend the time and money on something else.
Provide one argument as to why they shouldn't be considered the greatest retro videogame developer of all time.
They literally made no bad games.
>>3954879
>They literally made no bad games.
Light Crusader is shit.
Rare
>>3954886
It's not bad, actually it's one of the best isometric action-puzzle games I've played.
Treasure's bad/underdeveloped games are not retro (Stretch Panic and the Tiny Toon game on GBA).
All their retro stuff is solid. You may or may not like the games for subjective reasons, but they were more than competent developers, even their McD shovelware is good.
Can anyone tell me why this game gets so much hate? Why did it get so much hate?
I wasn't around in the Atari era, but when I look at other Atari games it doesn't look worse than any of them really.
E.T isn't the only Atari game that seems hard to understand what you are supposed to do.
What makes it so much worse compared to other Atari games?
Did you play it?
>>3977854
Sadly not, but I've seen several gameplay videos and a friend playing it.
It was the straw that broke the camel's back. If it hadn't been ET it woulda been the next widely advertised pos

Garage Sale season is upon us.
Have you found anything cool?
Pic related, I picked up these two for about 250 american, which when you consider the price of Magic Knight Rayearth alone, was too good for me to pass up.
>>3976757
Are the games really good enough to warrant that price?
>>3976768
MKR is very good. JRPGs are automatically top dollar for any system. The only exception I can think of is DW1
>>3976785
JRPGs are shit though.
Do people who identify as retro japanese PC gamers (NEC PC, MSX, etc.) actually play and enjoy the games they talk about, or are they only interested in them for their artstyle?
Most people here don't play the games they collect. They're just collecting for the sake of collecting in an attempt to fill the void of their empty souls.
>>3976645
Pretty sure most people here actually play the games, mate. Not sure what you're on about.
>>3976703
It's pretty well known fact that collectors don't like games.
Wanna take a look at this under-utilized mechanic, /vr/? Being a bad guy can be fun, sure, but rescuing people is where it's AT.
I'm not talking about saving someone as an END goal, I'm talking about saving them throughout the game. An obvious example being the Metal Slug series, where the POWs give you an item for helping them out. Sometimes it's just an item that gives you points, other times it's a weapon to make the game easier. This rules and is a classic example of how to incorporate saving people into your game.
More often than not I'm seeing civilians only be there for points, that's super lame, as they should have more of a purpose! Like in House of the Dead 2, where if you save someone you go down a completely different route than if you didn't. They should incorporate MORE into the mechanic, is my point.
The best use of the mechanic has got to be saving someone and having them actually help you out as computer-controlled character that moves along with you. Examples of this would be Hyakutaro in the metal slug series or the lady in NAM-1975.
Second best use of the mechanic would probably be saving a character and being able to use them, like in Gain Ground.
What are your thoughts, /vr/troopers? What are some of your favorite examples of saving people in vidya?
abe's oddyssey, I guess?
Metal Slug. Specially in the later entries made a great use of this mechanic
Megaman X6
Aren't the puzzles in this games a bit ridiculous?
Enyoing the atmosphere and story so far, but man , sometimes you only solve things randomly.
>>3981018
I meant game not games. I'm only playing Sins of the Fathers.
>>3981025
I skipped the second game because of the ugly live action actor shit but the 3rd game uses 3D graphics instead which I enjoyed.
>>3981114
>I skipped the second game
A big mistake.
One of the only ugly live action actor shit games worth a damn.
What the fuck happened to good ROM hacks? What happened to great detail and interesting alterations?
