It seems like you're just perpetually running from them as they follow you through rooms. Next to impossible to accomplish anything
So guise, i found a complete Snes for dirt cheap, i only tested that it turned on when i got it so, i just got home and i just get a black screen with every game, i know the games work since i also have a Super Famicom.
On the Snes i can only see the red light coming on, but nothing on the screen, the AC adapter looks pretty beat up and it even has black tape all around it, probably someone trie to fix it and coulndt.
Pic related is my multimeter, how can i test that the AC adapter is pushing enough juice? sorry i dont know anything about multimeters, oddly enough im pretty good at soldering.
Bait? Literally 10 second google search tells me super famicom games don't work in a snes

>dat reply
Not sure who is baiting whom.
Anyway, OP, did you clean the cart slot pins? There's a 90% chance that's the only problem. Do that thoroughly before bothering with other stuff.

I've been thinking of playing DQ 4-6. The only other DQ games I've play is 8 and DQM. What can I expect from the Zenithian trilogy? Should I play them in a particular order? Are they tied together at all?
Go for it. They are losely tied together but not enough so that you would have to play them in order. But I suggest you play them in order anyway? 4 is my personal favorite as its a bit campy and has fun characters. 5 is alot more epic and I personally find it a little deppressing. Ive played ( beat) every DQ but 2, 6, and 7.
>>3980135
I'm surprised you said 4 was your favorite. I considered skipping it since it's the only one of those 3 held back from being on the NES. I definitely won't skip 4 now though.
>>3980165
Not him but I think IV is the best of that series and maybe the second best of the series in genaral, I say this as someone whose first DQ was V too.
IV is a phenomenal, sadly if your an English only speaker you kind of are in a shitty situation. The NES version has a surprisingly decent translation but also suffers from censorship, being older and less refined, and no postgame. IV on DS is obviously newer and more refined but the script has these terrible accents that can be difficult to read. The android port is basically the DS version but with party chat. Personally I think the NES version is better myself as I played both but it really depends on preference. But DEFINITELY don't skip IV, it is a great game.
Of the Zenithian trilogy VI is by far the weakest entry despite being the youngest and newest. Most say V is better or at least goes even with IV, both IV and V are amazing games and neither should be skipped. If anything consider skipping VI, do look into it though. Hope this helps, feel free to ask about anything if you're curious about something.
Why are Luigi's overalls sometimes purple? Which game started this?
Super Mario Land 2: Donkey Donkey Panic. Funny story, but it actually all started over a disagreement regarding sky color in the first game...
God, you know, the mario wiki exists. It's got more than you would ever want to know and it's galleries are ever-expansive.

Did you know
What other game has such great ROM hacks as Super Mario World?
Half Life
None do. Mario World is the best for hacking. Look up "This Hack Needs A Name".
Faggot.
Super Metroid has some great ones
Why do so many people outside of /vr/ hate the Dreamcast? PS2 fanboys will go out of their way to shit on it for some reason. I don't get it.
>>3979021
I love the dreamcast, but in my opinion the ps2 was the better system. More massive game library, dual analog sticks. Games like sly 3. Plus Dreamcast had mostly arcade games, there fun at partys, but depth is kinda meh, unless you count Elemental Gimmick Gear.
PS2 only became good long after the death of the system.
>why do fanboys shit on the opposition
Hmm
Let's step back for a second. The N64 has the raw power to make it the most powerful console of its gen by far. But it has confusion complex design, and a lot of bottlenecks. Assuming it kept the cartridge design, but with a better design, easy to program for, with no bottlenecks.
What would these games look like?
Probably like the iQué.
like crysis with AA off
>>3978753
it was only 64-bit because of it's CPU, the GPU was strong but not significantly better than a ps1
The bottlenecks would've still been present, but maybe with CD's the texture limitations could've been overcome
My collection
Beautiful, bro. Congrats.

Fuck Vic Ireland in the neck.
How does it feel shitposting about things you're too young to remember?

Second post in and Ireland's defense force has already arrived.
First timer here. I've hit Ridley with all 15 of my super missiles, and have roughly 5 full tanks of health and 90 regular missiles. I know i need to hit him with 30 of them. I try to screw attack to protect myself, but i think it's his tail that somehow stops the screw attack. Any tips for dodging this bastard?
>>3978282
Unload your super missiles and then just attack him with fully charged ice/plasma/wave shots. You should be able to take him down pretty quickly. The damage of a fully charged beam weapon is unexpectedly huge. You just don't appreciate it because most enemies are instantly vaporized.
Also, nothing in the game beats Ridley's tail. You just got to stay the fuck away.
>>3978298
got him. I gave up on regular missiles and opted for charged shots

Giiiiiit eeeeeem
Probably the most underrated classic FPS of all time
if you say so
it's real good though
sorta feels like what Doom could have been
>>3978182
More like proto Deus Ex
>>3978113
I dunno OP, it feels like the game was trying too much with the doom engine, it was pretty fun but got frustrating and boring after a while
I need a ps1 or ps2 dog I can really get lost in.I've played the final fantasies and dragon quests. Now I'd like one with some nice world building that I can lose myself in
Any suggestions?

Legend of Dragoon
Dark Cloud 1 and 2
I was thinking about trying to attempt to speed run TO for PS or SNES, because it has not been done yet. My plan was to grind Denim and Canopus up early on, then feed all of the kills in story battles to Canopus in order to abuse the MVP level up, and continue on that way.
Anybody have any advice past that? I could also abuse the spell that buffs the Wind element in tough battles. Are there any other things I could take advantage of?

The final boss is going to be a hellova hard time with 2 characters because of his innate terror effect.
It likely hasn't been done because routing which route is fastest is probably insanely long winded. If someone has started routing it, it would be good to piggyback off their work. 90% of speedrunning for better or for worse is making the route, and it's the most thankless job by a large margin. It's the most work, and then after you've successfully routed, some faggot will use your route, and beat your time because they're a filthy grind monkey.
I was going to route Folklore for PS3 but it was a mindnumbingly bad experience. And it's a 9-14 hour game on average, so I can only imagine how much worse it is to route TO which can easily be 20-30.
SNES version is without a doubt faster due to disc load. I can't remember what route is faster, or easier so that's going to be your number 1 priority. Then you're going to want to get enemy manipulation patterns down. You should look at the FFT speedrun for something like that, or Advance Wars 2 where almost all of it is totally manipulated.
There's usually a reason games haven't been routed, or ran.
Someone did the psp remake.
http://www.speedrun.com/toluct
>>3977959
That's good tho, OP can look at the route and try to optimize it, instead of having to route it from scratch.
anyone heard of this game?
>>3977890
sure whatever
>>3977890
I played it a long time ago. Never beat it, but I remember it being pretty good. Interesting puzzle focused platforming.

Is this a Watch for Rolling Rocks reference?

It just looks like low poly Mario to me.
