Is Super Famicom Wars as good as Advance Wars?
>>3984731
>Advance Wars
At one point in my life it would have been nice to meet someone else who played and liked that game. I bought it the day it came out, and it remains to this day one of the finest turn-based strategy games I have ever played. The map editor was a nice touch, and being able to glitch the game into edit mode was a lot of fun.
I don't know, but Military Madness on PC Engine is pretty similar and it's pretty fun, so I'd only assume Super Famicom Wars is also pretty good.
>>3984731
wow I honestly thought the series started with Advance Wars. Why do gooks keep the good games to themselves for so long?
is it really that hard to copy the hardware of a console and make an exact duplicate?
especially after all these years. It would really save us the trouble of having to worry about the original consoles expiring, buying shitty used consoles on ebay, or companies past their prime trying to sell us an ancient console over again for 200,000 dollars. Just saying why hasn't this been done yet? I haven't heard about it if it has. Clearly we have the softwarre down to a dregree with emulators; why cant we literally rebuild the same hadware by studying the old one.
No point when the few people who give a shit buy cheapo replicas anyway
>>3983832
I just think knowledge is power and if that knowledge is available, it should be put out there. No matter how few or many people you might think want it. The point is knowing and understanding. It might be handy to be able to make your own one day, and frankly, pretty cool from my perspective.
>>3983836
With so many idiots destroying og consoles for their shitty vanity experiments, this kind of thing could actually inspire good ideas and developments. Becuase there's less to lose if you can just make another. And I know a lot of people hold their original consoles to a high regard, and understandably so. Less risk involved in a modern copy of an old console. I dunno, seems like a pretty cool idea to me.

Kojima is notorious for plagarism:
- Metal Gear's manual art
- MGS's main theme is a Russian classical song
- Snatcher is just Blade Runner
- More art stolen in later MGS games
- MGS V's promo art and entire story

-What model Sega CD do you own?
-What are your favorite games?
-Did you have to repair it, and if so how?
-What do you think of the Sega CD, and the addon/CD fad?
>>3983574
This seems like a good thread to give an update on the JVC X'Eye i posted about a while ago that refused to acknowledge or spin up CDs in case anyone is interested.
All it literally needed was a new laser.
I didn't even need to replace the caps (They all look fine so I'll hold off on that for now) or adjust the pots and it pretty much reads anything instantly now, original games, burnt CD-R's and music discs.
I'd prolly have to say Sonic CD is my favorite game on CD.
The system does actually have a lot of interesting games like Popful Mail, Keio Flying Squad, Snatcher, Robo Aleste and Final Fight CD so I wouldn't really call it a fad.
The fact that you can simply burn every single game also makes it kind of attractive to own.
Why does it seem like everyone owns a model 2?
>>3983627
It's generally cheaper and more reliable, but it doesn't come close to matching the style that the original had

What are your thoughts on Labyrinth Zone, /vr/?
>>3983434
It's in a Sonic game so it's pretty bad.
>>3983434
Loved it. One of the levels i hope gets a remaster in Mania.
Great music, Great artwork, Pretty shitty boss tho neat concept. Nice platforming too. I can see why they moved the stage from 2nd to 4th.
If the level had no water breath timer it would've came across much better. Maybe they should've stuck to the goggles they was going to implement.
>>3983464
>If the level had no water breath timer it would've came across much better
I whole heartedly disagree. Seriously, what aspect was more tense and memorable as that fucking terrifying count down timer? It really plays with a lot of fears kids have about being underwater in confined spaces with no knowledge of where the next air gap is. It was great.
https://youtu.be/vdRBVdOAnf0?t=23
Bought this for near 200 but it seem to perfect and I have no way to test it at the moment.
If you spent $200 and didn't get fucked, something would be wrong. Looks like you bought a CIB Majesco re-release.
What separates inaccurate emulators from accurate ones? I used pic related for years until I kept reading about how inaccurate it supposedly was, but I would never have known otherwise.
Are Nintendo's VC emulators 'accurate'?
And I've never noticed input lag either. Is that another thing that only autists notice?
>>3983284
>What separates inaccurate emulators from accurate ones?
Inaccurate emulators may take shortcuts to get certain games runnable at decent speeds at the expense of breaking other games in the library. More accurate emulators are generally more compatible at the cost of more CPU time.
>I used pic related for years until I kept reading about how inaccurate it supposedly was, but I would never have known otherwise.
Play some of the Kirby games or games like Final Fantasy VI or New Horizons on ZSNES, then play on a more modern emulator. Certain graphical effects don't work, and the sound is much worse on ZSNES. Many of the more popular games work fine, but outside of those titles you see issues cropping up a lot.
>>Are Nintendo's VC emulators 'accurate'?
Not at all. Each game basically has its own emulator tailored with game-specific options to get it running well on the hardware. That's the only way a N64 game is going to run well on a low-powered system like the Wii: with lots of game-specific hacks.
>>3983284
Unless there are graphical, speed, or game breaking glitches, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
>>3983290
I seem to remember Zombies Ate My Neighbors sounding like absolute dogshit on ZSNES.
