Why is there a sudden interest in the saturn recently?

There's always been interest in the Saturn. Have you been asleep?
>>
>>3998504
Never noticed it.
>>
I haven't noticed any real uptick lately. Maybe you recently got interested in the Saturn for some reason and so you notice it more?

I just finished this and what the hell was up with the epilogue? A porn game has no right being this good

I'm probably going to catch flak for this, but whatever:
Try Kana little sister. Cry buckets.
>>
>>3997867
The very end was supposed to be an Adam and Eve reference, I guess.

It's funny reading old reviews of this game where everyone thinks the ending is really deep and super meaningful
>>
>>3997867
The epilogue is a mess, doesn't compare to the main story.

The best thing about the game is the music, though

Why didn't they make this game easier? I remember looking forward to playing a comfy laid back game about dolphins when I six and then getting my ass kicked by it when I got home.

because easy games got rented and beat in a couple of days
>>
>>3996430
They hype for this game was unreal at the time. Ads on tv, ads in magazines, people talking like it was another Sonic type Sega game. And then it was released, and I rented it to, and had no idea what to do or where to go. Nothing in the game is self- explanatory. It's too esoteric, too cryptic. And it's gameplay wasn't' like anything I was familiar with. The power of marketing people. Didn't look into it again until youtube got popular.

Because its a game and games involve challenge, not an interactive picture book like most modern "games"

I like jrpgs I have played all the big names, but I have only ever finished 3 (4 is you count getting good to the final boss not being able to beat him and watching the ending on YouTube) so I have to ask in this day and age with almost unlimited entertainment does anyone here still finish there jrpgs

God who even counts? I finish most of the ones that I pick up, the only time I don't finish em is if they're boring enough that I drop them after an hour. It sounds like you don't enjoy them, so why do you keep forcing yourself to try them?

Like 12 of them. I still wish to go back and play the ones from the 16bit generation.

I really enjoyed EarthBound and Mother 3. I really enjoy the charm and humor of the games. Is the first game of this series worth playing? I heard it has all of the bs associated with 8-bit RPGs (lots of grinding, uninteresting battle system, one hit kills even at adequate levels, etc.). How does it compare to other RPGs of the era?

There's ways around the difficulty of the game with patches. I think one of the versions gives you a ring at the beginning that helps you level up a lot faster. I used it for the start of the game and then i took it off so it didnt completely destroy any kind of possible challenge. Had a really good time playing this game actually.

Play with the easy ring patch if it worries you that much. In my 10+ playthroughes I never found it too bad but there are four crucial points where I grind.
>Ninten leaving his house for the first time
>Ninten entering magican for the first time
>Loid joining your party
>Ana joining your party
After grinding Ana you should be fine. Also some tips.
>bread as a item, not a healing item, can be used as a way to instantly teleport back somewhere
>all your armor upgrades can be found in magicant. Just grind as you can buy the best armor as soon as you go there
>the onyx hook is helpful if you feel stuck in a dungeon and don't want to game over
>Ana's PSI is extremely powerful in this game, don't hoard MP as bosses are few and most are cutscenes
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions if you're curious on something.

Why do people on /vr/ hate Sonic Adventure?
73 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
>>3992113
As someone who has put an unhealthy amount of time into that game, some of my complaints are
>Hub world is unfun
>Too many cutscenes
>Only 2-3 of the characters are fun to play as
>Mandatory sub games that are unfun
>Glitches
>Wonky camera
Frankly Sonic Adventure 2 is better in just about every way
>>
Because it's a genuinely bad video game.

As someone who has put a healthy amount of time into this game I'd say
>Opinions
And thats fine
>>3992124
I disagree with most of this. But that's just my opinion
My only two complains would be
>Sonic's Casino Level (playing pinball) takes too long
>Sonic is neigh impossible to control when running in a tube
>>3992147

I want to get into breath of fire. Where to start?
184 posts and 79 images submitted.
>>
Start with 1. I recommend the GBA port for extra artwork and a better interface. Breath of Fire is a fun a series and has many callbacks between games, so part of the fun IA playing them in order to get them all. It also helps you appreciate how the series evolves. So I'd say go by the numbers and have fun.

If you can only play one game in the franchise though, I'd recommend Breath of Fire III. It's probably the best example of what the series is about. My personal favorite is II, but I know it's not the best game in the series.

Anyway, have fun, I love these series and I'm not normally someone who gets into turn based RPGs. It just has a charm that most tamed lack, and the soundtrack is amazing.

(Part 1)
They're all quite different but here is my personal experience.

I have only played the playstation games, III and IV.

I first played III of the two. III is often regarded as the best of the series by many fans as well as serving as most people's intriduction. III is a good game, however it can be rather slow. The game itself plays fast but I find the pacing to be quite slow. The story is cut into two parts really, before and after a timeskip. Before the time skip is really where the problem can be. This part sets up a lot of the following events of the later half. Through this part you're swapping characters quite often and new things are introduced frequently. For some players they often find the game difficult to replay as this first half will feel like a tutorial they just can't skip. The later half though is quite excellent. There is a pretty infamous section here that most dread and even has entire guides dedicated to itself alone, veterans know which part I mean, but this is just one section. Basically what I mean to say is in III you might feel your not making progress. There's one sidequest that is introduced early on but doesn't get conpleted until near the ending. Now for gameplay its actually pretty standard. Three party members and your basic stuff, attack, magic, guard, items, and run. What makes combat interesting is essentially everyone is a blue mage. When you defend and a enemy does their action your character, depending on who is guarding, can learn the action the enemy had done. Skills are varied, some are incredibly helpful and others literally only waste turns as a joke. III is an excellent game, but a slow game.

Later I played IV, and holy shit did IV wow me. I initially dropped III but still wanted to try IV as the art just really interested me. IV actually has a greater focus on story then III, however its pacing is MUCH better then III. The story and game move at a good pace, new things are happening constantly and little time is wasted. Combat is also personally better. In IV you have a row system and combo system. Throughout the game you will get six party members. With rows three characters will be in the front while the others remain in the back. Basically while only three can act all six are in battle always and you can move characters to the back and front easily and as much as you want. For example if you see a character low on health you can put them in the back and have someone else go in front. Magic also works in combos. Magic has four alignments. Depending on the order you use magic the elements can link with one another. For example if you use a fire spell then a wind spell the wind spell will now become a new, stronger spell. The blue mage system returns as well. On top of an excellent battle system the story is just as good. The game offers an amazing mix of tension, tragedy, and true moral dilemmas. Despite all this I do have one nitpick. Around maybe the last fourth on your last huge goal the game kind of falls a bit. For around 4-5 hours dumb sidequests with little story occur. All I can say is muscle through this, the ending is phenomenal.

Overall I say this, try III first then IV. III is a bit of a slog but one worth slogging through. While III took a second attempt though IV had me instantly. Please play, or at least try, both of these amazing games.
