What does /vr/ think of Working Designs localizations?
>>3995352
again?
It's a contentious topic to say the least, could be the next PSX debate since it has the implication of pitting oldfags vs youngfags. Back in the day the games WD localized wouldn't have been localized any other way but compared to modern translations and even fan translations they're pretty loose, dated and straight up silly. Add on top of that the moonfags who will feel anyone not playing in the original language are idiots and you've got quite an argument on your hands.
the dialogue is kind of entertaining at first but the "humor" generally overstays its welcome
OK!
C'mon c'mon
Come on, yellow belly!

ITT: WRPGs that even people spoiled by JRPGs can enjoy
>>3995248
If you're implying that pic related is a WRPG that even people spoiled by JRPGs can enjoy, why don't you tell us what it is, you dumb fucking faggot.
I suggest Oblivion.
Every Wizardry game

Sharp pixels appreciation thread
Post beautiful screenshots of beatiful games with beautiful sharp pixels
CRT and filter fags have their general thread, and I know they're a minority, so I don't see why not.
looks awful
Are gifs fine too?

To each their own. To me CRTs look awful.
Why were Playstation discs black?

Big Black Discs
From what I understand, as a copy protection measure. The PSX could read them just fine, but the optics of many computer drives at the time did not like the altered reflectivity properties *at all*.

Is there such thing /vr/? I do own several genuine ones, but I was wondering if there's some reliable third party ones.
I recall some of the early multiblock ones had issues after a while, however I'm not aware of any later era good ones.
they're all shit, and most have issues with working in PS2s.
>>3994896
Sure, some of them are worse than others, but not all of them are equally bad. Later generation ones did not used compression, and supposedly still are very reliable. The newer ones, which were featuring LCD screens, according to many, still work perfectly fine, even with the PS2.
Just buy official ones. I still pick up one a week at the flea market for $3 and have a whole box full.
Just picked up a SNES and recently learned about Flash Carts/ Homebrews/ Rom Hacks.
What are your favorite SNES/ NES Rom Hacks?
Any cheap Flash Carts out there?
>cheap
>good
>flash cart
Pick two.

You can find a chinese knockoff in aliexpress for 50$ or 60$. But keep in mind that you will get a lot more quality buying from krikkz for ony 15-20$ more, so..

SMW hacks can be surprisingly fun, not all of them are well made, but even some weird ones can be fun nonetheless.
Greeting fellow /vr/troopers, I've noticed that one of the metal slug fan-sites has actually been keeping up to date with informating regarding the series and has been cataloging everything from concept work to translations:
http://randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com/msmia/index.html
I suggest a Metal Slug thread for discussing the information from this site and proposing cool scenarios you'd like to see in a possible future metal slug title, something 7 was severely lacking.
There will be no future for the series, it is destined to be forever mobage trash
>>3994273
SNK has been quoted on saying they've got plans for Metal slug though. And never say never, Metal Slug will be back, we just don't know when.
>>3994272
It's a thing of a bygone era, but I'm glad fansites are still a thing. I can't believe an sluggish ad-ridden shithole like Wikia has become the de facto framework for any current up-to-date pop culture knowledge base
What TV do you guys recommend for older consoles?

Only a genuine magnetbox. Accept no substitutions.
Do I really need a translation to play this game /vr/? Is it something that I can muddle through with just the pictures and numbers?
>what am I in for
There's an official translation on Wiiware if that tickles your fancy.
There's a fan patch, dude...

Hey /vr/. What are some classic games that let you play as a villain?
Dark Half
Sonic Adventure 2
Demons Crest
Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker
I find mages in BG2 to be way too high maintenance for my taste. Plus, it's just me, but I despite having to go through a bunch of spells before every big fight to buff everyone up. Can I play BG2 on normal without any mage in my company? I plan to run a bard.
>>3993143
Oh for sure. Might be a little trial and errory if you haven't memorized everything about that game, but that's all fun I think. You can solo that game as a bard
fuck you can solo the game as a barbarian
It looks like an ass.
>>3993143
Bards have the same spellcasting mechanics as Mages, anon.

it needs a sequel for Nintendo Switch made by Nintendo
>>3992801
is this a game for ants?
also, Nintendo Switch = NOT retro
also, Nintendo wouldn't make a sequel to a game they had nothing to do with.
what a complete failure of a thread.
Is the squirrel giant or the velociraptor small?
>>3992809
