Do you bother with replacing batteries inside your carts?
If I had the game bit screwer, I'd do it, it's pretty easy and batteries are cheap.
So far my Metroid II, Wario Land and Pokemon Gold batteries all died.
Metroid II and Wario died recently, Pokemon Gold died a long time ago, but it's a known fact batteries for Gold and Silver all died prematurely.
>>2846782
i just noticed my wario land died. most of my nes carts still work however. both zeldas, startropics, dragon warriors, etc
>>2846779
I thought about it once the batteries in my carts really started to go.
>too much work
>dumbass screwdriver
>lazy
I'd rather emulate but I fucking love Wario Land

There's such a spike in difficulty between the first 4 levels and the third moon. Anyone got any tips for the core boss or the level in general?

what are some good games with hair as a weapon?
Dixie Kong uses her hair in DKC2 and DKC3
>>2846687
Guilty Gear.
Four sprung immediately to mind but two have already been mentioned.
The other two: Silhouette Mirage bitch uses her hair to hold onto and pound on baddies.
In Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu (or, at least, the TG16 version; not sure about others), there are enemies on the first stage that whip their braids at you.
I've been playing through the Castlevania series lately and I've made it to Castlevania 3. I know the NTSC version was changed somewhat from the original Japanese version, so I was wondering what your guys' opinion was. Should I seek out the Japanese version, and if so, does anyone have any suggestions on a good translation?
>>2846563
>the NTSC version was changed somewhat from the original Japanese version,
Japanese version is NTSC, though.
>>2846563
>I know the NTSC version was changed somewhat from the original Japanese version
Japan is NTSC. If you mean "North American" then fucking say North American.
>>2846563
>NSTC
Do you mean America specifically?
Hi /vr/
I'm having trouble deciding what console to buy next. Here's what I currently own:
-TurboGrafx 16 (with RGB addon but it's the shitty older one that flickers sometimes)
-Sega Master System
-Nintendo 64 (RGB modded)
-PlayStation 3 (CECHA01 - Full backwards compatibility, plus original PS1 but not messing with RGB for it)
-Sega Dreamcast (haven't bought VGA to HDMI adapter yet for 480p)
-Gamecube (non-digital AV out, so, got to replace it and get some component cables soon)
I'm thinking about simply collecting for these but right now I've really been wanting a Sega Saturn and Super Nintendo. I'm kind of torn though. People have said Genesis but I will probably wait on that.
Also, I feel embarrassed for saying this, but I've been looking at Jaguar and it's top games lately too.
Portables, friend Anon! Stock up on Gameboys, Wonderswans and the like!
Also, have a CECHA01 I'll be getting officially on Christmas, any precautions you could warn me about with the model? Sorry for not retro!

How about you just learn how to make decisions by yourself like a normal fucking adult? There's already more than enough information about games on the Internet for you to make your own choices. How the fuck do you expect a bunch of strangers who know absolutely nothing about what games you like to help you out?
>>2846450
Relax Anon. It is hardly unusual for people to ask for opinions on what they might enjoy. If you do not like it, simply ignore the thread and move on. No need to be so hostile.
was getting caught part of your master plan

I generally agree, but I also lament all of Rare's less-talked about series. They always did something different and interesting, and generally good quality.
I wouldn't be AS pissed about them moving to Microsoft, I mean they are a business after all and had to do what was best for them, but I wish they continued doing interesting stuff. IMO most of their recent stuff felt kinda half assed. Not even counting their kinect shovelware bullshit.

Go back to /b/
Goodday /vr/,
I have come to you in search of a classic isometric RPG game that I am looking for. Unfortunately I can only give you a vague description about the game itself, other than that it must've been an 90s isometric RPG fantasy game and that it began with washing ashore on an island. I also remember that the map was black and you had to travel all over the island to uncover the map. I hope anyone recognizes a game in this and can maybe tell me so I can try to find it again.
Pic related: the kind of perspective of the game and also the kind of graphics / era
Have you tried doing a google search for Isometric RPG's? Or maybe, 90's Isometric RPG's. And sorry I have no idea what it is. I'm interested, though.
Been looking for a long time yeah. I remember you found a village where cows roamed around that you could kill to piss off farmers. Also it was played on Realarcade
>>2846159
Well, there's the Ultima series I guess.
Hello folks.
Who know, there can download software?
http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16723664
Gonna need a little more context, OP. What's that thing? What software?
/g/ will probably be more useful with Silicon Graphics computers.
>>2846113
It's an old Silicon Graphics computer, these things were MIPS based and ran a proprietary derivative of UNIX called IRIX.
We're gonna need more information on what exactly you're after OP. If you're looking for IRIX you can try this:
https://winworldpc.com/product/irix
If you're looking for games for IRIX you might have a hard time finding them. One of the BSDs like NetBSD or OpenBSD would be your best bet.
too fun
is there a term that defines this element of gameplay?
Space Harrier
Why SNES games are so vivid compared to GBA ports?
I began to play Final Fantasy II on SNES and it seems to look a lot better than FF IV Advance. Let's say, enemy death animation is a lot more interesting.
>>2845467
GBA had a weird resolution
also has a much less 'vivid' sound.
so hard to play GBA games for me nowadays b/c of this
>>2845467
>Why SNES games are so vivid compared to GBA ports?
They intentionally washed out the colors so they'd be brighter and easier to see on the unlit GBA screen.
It ruined the look of a lot of games. I wish they had the foresight to just include a backlight from the beginning.
The voice over work in this is fucking crazy good, especially compared to other games from the time.
A Japanese PlayStation game from 1998 with no weird inflections and little-to-no mistranslations, how did they do it?
>>2845214
They took their time and hired competent people. Not complicated.
Classic Mei Ling a best.
>>2845214
You like Castlevania, don't you?
>>2845228
That accent would get me rock hard as a kid... they fucked up by changing her VA in the remake.
What is the most graphically impressive game for the SNES that used no expansion chips?
I'm rather fond of the Goemon games.
Not sure if "impressive" is the word, but they're very colorful, lively, well animated and just full of eye candy.
Donkey Kong Country easily.

>>2845052

That's not how you spell "improved".
just beat this tonight. Really fun game. controls seem a little weird at first, but you adjust and get used to them quickly and they become second nature. It plays like a parody version Adventure Island where you jump on enemies instead of throwing axes, I had no idea that the games had so much in common. also the Japanese television show that it's based on (Fun TV with Kato-chan and Ken-chan) is the Japanese equivalent and inspiration for America's Funniest Video's. so JJ & Jeff pretty much an video game version of AFV.
also, I had played this game before a few years ago but never only for a few minutes and quickly dismissed. a couple weeks ago an anon on /vr/ spoke so glowingly of it that I decided to give it another chance. thanks to that anon.

genji tsushinn agedema ... or however it's spelled.
awesome run n gun autoscroller. not enough games in this wicked genre
>>2844964
Definitely a cool game. I like the genies and the nuke
Recently beat Momotaro Katsugeki. It's like Keith courage except it's good. By Hudson, and only in Japanese. But you can get through it by just upgrading sword and armor.
There's also homages to crazy climber, donkey kong and Mario land's underwater level
This is the shit.
Like castlevania 1 but better
