If you’re an 80’s kid like me, you probably grew up with the best game consoles of all time. Remember when your friends would come over after school, or have slumber parties on the weekend just to play your favorite games? This was an era of true social gaming. Disconnect from the online world for just a minute and reconnect with your childhood.
PiStation, what is it?
Think of it much like a Nintendo, where you only need a TV/monitor with HDMI and power, except it's a credit-card-sized micro-computer that is able to play games on 20+ old school game consoles.
PiStation's primary goal is to keep the gaming experience the same as you remember it, with some modern enhancements, without the inconvenience of cartridges.
It's powered by a Raspberry Pi 2, which has a quad core processor, 1 GB of RAM, can play Full HD 1080p video and is connected via wireless PS3 dualshock controllers. The user interface is a tweaked Emulation Station running on a modified RetroPie version for a seamless gaming experience.

I fucking hate socializing, actually, if I were any good at it I'd be playing sports not fucking videogames

awful game btw, but good music (most of them remixes from Super Butoden series) and the cover looks nice
An overlooked masterpiece that never makes it into Metal Gear Solid anniversary collections.

Let's greatly improve games we like.
Pic related. Meis's voice is recast to be Doug Smith.

actually finish the prototype tracks instead of making a classic league and then fucking up the lightning
release it in the US and give it a proper framerate
done

how bout will smith?
A third button. A dedicated jumping button.
The jumping knee attack is operated with it as well.
I've done hotkey shenanigans on emulator to this effect, and it makes the game a lot better.
im having some serious fucking issues right now with fallout 1. I started on friday night with the intent of beating the game over the weekend, and i had to quit in the middle of my battle with the master. i come back, reload my mid-fight save, and now every time i aim for an eye shot my game crashes. whats going on? can someone help me with this bullshit? i cant have done all this work on this game just to have it fucking crash on me at the very end.
had something similar happen to me once. never bothered to play through it again

this cant be the end
dogmeat and katja died for me to get this far
i cant let them and my weekend be sacrificed in vain

Lol you don't have multiple saves? Serves you right. Anyway you can just run and exit the map and still win the game (unless you haven't destroyed Mariposa yet)
I'm currently working on a retro style RPG.
I've been searching and searching for decent sites to download MIDIs from.
Everywhere i've found so far is absolute dogshit in terms of variety, don't load at all, or have very sketchy download links.
Any help finding a decent site would be a great help, no shitty pop music though please.
Hook me up!
Also, feel free to post any sexy 8-bit/chip-break tunes, as I'm a massive nerd who lives in the past

Learn some music theory and code a random music generator. Pick the ones that sound best.
>>2838619
I'm borderline retarded when it comes to any kind of musical composition.
I'm not making the game for any kind of profit, so really I just want some kickass tunes to throw into it.
really? A bunch of "retro gamers" and nobody listens to any 8-bit?
For shame guys,,, for shame.
What's the best video game?
Super Mario World

Battletoads.
Were there any good retro remakes of other games?
pic related doesn't really count. They only added a CG opening.

Shining Force CD
I've seen others on /vr/ bitch about it, but I'm quite fond of the Wild Arms remake.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana is a complete revamp of Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys. I also enjoy it a lot more than the original. I think they should've just stuck with bump combat for Ys 3.
Image is relevant. Also don't forgot Chrono Trigger (The remake)
The last Metroid... is in captivity.
The galaxy is at peace.

what was up with that intro
what was up with the All Clear music
it's the kind of esoteric-looking things that you understand when you grow up yet Smash continues to make little to no sense
I really want to play this rom hack but I just can't for the life of me.
http://www.emuparadise.me/Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System_(SNES)_ROMs/Super_Mario_World_(USA)/35787 here's where I got the rom.
http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=6026 here's where I got the patch.
I've tried soft patching it, I've tried using lunar ips, and I've used both zsnes and snes9x.
please help me.
>>2838068
Probably requires a header before you patch it. Use NSRT to add a header to the rom, then try patching it.
>>2838068
Works fine here.

Ignore, do not respond.
Hey guys,
I want to buy this sweet-ass game called ff9. I've been wanting to buy it for a while but it's not on steam or anything. Where is a place I can get it that doesn't involve me figuring out to use an emulator or buy a playstation 1?
>no pc port
>no emulators
>no original hardware
Huhhhhh do you at least have a PS2/3?
>>2837752
Yeah. I do. So I guess that is one option. Still, I go to college and bringing an PS around isn't the best.
just emulate you cunt
double dragon 2
>>2837742

>>2837742
Super Mario Bros. 3
Is the GBC version any different?
>>2837480
The last boss is different, and in the NES version most enemies are immune to one of the sword types but this was removed in the GBC port.
Is different in that you playing on smaller screen, and music sounds slightly different but still same.
Also instead of big cartridge you have nice compact gbc cartridge, feels good to put in gb cartridges, that's total + to me.
If you lucky you have ac adapter so you play long time all day. Have fun OP gbc is good game.
>>2837480
Yes, the Field Of View is smaller on GBC.... Except that enemies are still the same, leading to bad situations when enemies you haven't sseen yet are already triggered.
>Play a game with little to no dialogue
>Form ideas of what all the characters are like
>Suddenly sequel or remake or adaptation
>Everyone's totally different
What game was it for you, /vr/?
Other M
>>2837431
I count that as a fan-game that somehow got official Nintendo funding & licensing.
>>2837429
Wolfenstein 3D
Favorite open world games /vr/?
>>2837227
Does count Fallout and the first Baldur's Gate as open world games?
Keeping it retro:
Ultima III: Exodus - It doesn't seem like many Ultima fans really care for this game, but U3 got me into open-world RPGs in the first place.
Some honorable mentions include:
Metroid series
Dungeon Magic: Sword of the Elements (something of a hidden gem on the NES)
Dragon Quest I and II
Final Fantasy I and II
Romancing SaGa (and most other SaGa games, for that matter)
King's Field series
I recently started daggerfall, never played back when it was first released. It is fucking great. I like the dungeons and their maps is sick. It's scary how huge it really is. I had to change the keyboard setup a fuck ton to get it comfy. You can walk for days and there is some glitchyness that adds another level of play. I haven't even left daggerfall province yet.
