quick question: I'm currently playing a 4e campaign and one member of my party desperately wants to know what happens when you drop a creature from a height of 10 ft. onto another creature.
Depends on the creatures (probably pushing a golem on top of a kobold ends very badly for the kobold) but a good rule of thumb imo is rolling the damage for the fall, then splitting it between the two.
For the record, you may want to handle fall damage that comes from player action using the improvised damage table, since it becomes really piddly as levels go up.

Thanks, man. I honestly didn't think I'd get a response.
>>53994548
>>53994548
Personally, I would have the one of the co-locating parties (the faller if he's more "in control" or the fellee if he's more "in control") make a MBA against the other. Instead of damage, if they hit, they get to decide who stays, and what square the ohter party goes to, if they miss, it's the reverse, unless the 10 foot fall was already the result of a successful attack-roll of some sort, in which case the one who won the attack roll makes the choice.
Then again, that's just a house rule I made up on the fly.
So I need your help, /tg/. I am soon going to be in a Mutants and Masterminds game based off of Worm. I am playing a tinker villain with a focus in bio-engineering. So far I thought of the following things that I could work on and research:
>enhanced strength/stamina/agility
>improved intelligence with the possibility of psionics if I can do enough study
>enhanced rate of healing and regeneration
>clones
>possibly combining clones and psionics to achieve a variation of immortality through the use of consciousness transfer on death (DM won't let us get regular immortality)
>night vision
>natural weapons like claws or spines
>acidic/poisonous/burning bodily fluids.
>increased size/density
>wings for flying
I need some help compiling the rest of this list of sci-fi things that could be done with genetic modifications/bio-engineering. Any help is appreciated.

Your work is pretty much done for ya here.
>>53994140
Well............shit, that is actually amazing. That has probably saved me a shit ton of contemplation and thinking, so thank you!
It's mutants and masterminds. Genetics can be an excuse for literally anything in comics..
I may ask /lit/ about this too, but my question is how do you as GM's, and also players feel about using materials or novels as inspiration for characters or campaigns? For example, I have a campaign coming up soon where one of the larger villains will be a scientist who basically enacts the story "Flowers for Algernon" on various people in the setting and was curious to see if you think things like this would be more closely quantified as a rip-off, or just taking one story as inspiration. And then beyond that specific example obviously where you all feel the line is best drawn at between concept and running with it and just flat out stealing an idea.
>picture unrelated
You always run the risk of your stuff seeming to derivative. However, there are countless stories in which the narrative arch, theme, setting, etc. are inspired by other works. I am not sure if you are questioning the morality of the choice you are making or if you are simply asking if it is a good idea or not. Using other works as inspiration can be an excellent idea if the result is engaging and not overly predictable. That is the only risk, in my opinion. If players have heard the story or have seen similar instances, they might already know what is in store.
>>53994063
Morality is one, and the other stems as a question of it being considered "unoriginal". I suppose a large deal of it will come down to things like delivery. Part of my current issue (I'm still working on long pre-work) is still fleshing out to some degree / coming up with all the major characters I'll need. Given the nature of the campaign I'm heading I need to essentially come up with 65+ somewhat unique areas for the parties to visit along their travels and am currently at the point where I'm shooting for narrative inspiration, be it tropes or stories I can use to branch off into something wild.
My other question towards the same topic is, more or less what you anon's think really sets the difference in a story between something being inspired by or taking reference to (i.e. the tale of Momotaro used in the series One Piece) versus, idk list any poor literary work that I suppose attempts something similar. Do things like this work better if its something more commonly referenced (i.e. Robin Hood, grim fairy tales) or something obscure.
>>53993892
The only question you need to ask yourself is: How likely are your players to catch on?
You're (presumably) not doing this for money, so why are you worried about "stealing" ideas?
I'm throwing together a Steven Universe Apocalypse Engine homebrew (maybe reskin is more accurate) for my group and I.
Thoughts on the Pearl Playbook? Having never homebrewed before I'm having an interesting experience, I hear PBTA is generally a good place to start though.
>>53993266
It's intended set in the main rebellion period when Gem War on Earth was a bit more heavy duty, but I guess it definitely would work in the post-Rebellion era of the show.

Do you use sites like Obsidian Portal for managing your campaign, or just notebooks?
What's the best way to organize all the GM's shit?
>>53992964
Is there any good wiki software for campaigns?
The fact that Obsidian Portal makes you pay extra money to make your campaign journal not available to the public really grinds my gears
>>53993123
Gotta feed the kids somehow, I guess.
It's their markup that bugs the hell out of me, but I just use the free version anyhow.

Anyone have a working link to the current version of the sprawl.
Quick question: Fusion Substitute or plain ol' Polymerization?
Also, Yu-Gi-Oh thread, I guess.
>>53992642
Fusion substitute requires you to have the materials in play and poly doesn't.
>>53993652
Yeah, that is the greatest drawback Fusion Substitute has, I just wanted to know if its extra effect is enough to make it preferable over Polymerization.

Why do I feel like I've read this before?
I was going to say stuff but I don't want to waste time on a copypasta. Thanks for the vampire loli though.
I've been playing SW:A with a friend, using SoB vs. his orks. I haven't played Necromunda or 40K for many years and it's been fun getting back into it.
My seven year old wants to play, and wants to go with scouts. He's not bad at Space Hulk (with some guidance) and I think he could have some fun with SW:A.
I'm curious what /tg/ anons starts with when using a Scout Kill Team, and what the next couple models might be when recruited. I have put zero thought into scouts- I'd run AdMech, Tau, Chaos, GS Cult, or Wyches before scouts ;)
The biggest advantage scouts have is that they can take multiple toxin sniper rifles, which are usually special weapons for most teams with limited numbers.
Combine that with a very strong statline, and they're good high-end dudes compared to most of what's around, except at melee. Where they'll get shredded by Wyches and Harlequins and Tyranids.

>The biggest advantage scouts have is that they can take multiple toxin sniper rifles, which are usually special weapons for most teams with limited numbers.
How many of those should I start off with at initial creation? I was planning on at least one.
>>53992092
Probably like 2 to start. Get around 4 later. Consider if you want a special/heavy weapon or not to start, and make the others bolter guys.
So I'm going to run a one-session campaign for my friends as we transition between two different campaigns. Rather than just make a bunch of high-level characters for fun (fun is the main factor we're aiming for in this one-off thing), I was wondering if there were any dumb unbalanced games to play just for a single night. Anything really, as long as it's just fun in that dumb, not-serious way.
They've only ever played 5e if that matters, thanks for the help.

Hey guys. Im possibly going to be running a Undead/Ghoul/Vampire type game over on Qst and was wondering if you guys could help out. Looking for more realistic vampires/Undead like pic related and Ghouls/Zombies for the inevitable minions
Here's a few
but also just google some stuff ya butt

Post links to any and all PDFs that you have.
I'm looking for Knight of the living dead from catacombs books/Forgotten realms.
Hey /tg/. Found a character for a game called Arcadia Quest at goodwill. Can't seem to find a fair price for him online, just some stupid ebay sales.
Then again, I never heard of the game before. Was it just a qt find, or should I be trying to find someone to appreciate it?
>>53989649
Guessing its not a big game?
I play it alot, its fun but Im not really sure how much that is worth op, what did you pay for it?
>>53991452
99 cents. Mine is still in its box, I just grabbed this image off google.
