Fellow Fa/tg/uys, does anyone have the Dark Vengeance 8e booklet? Trying not to loose it to the ages now.

Specially now that I finally found other players in the dark reaches of the undeveloped southern hemisphere.
>>

I have no idea what you're talking about. Dark Vengeance was 7th Edition.
Do you mean Dark Imperium or was there some booklet I don't know of?

So I used to play YGO! From 2005 to 2010, and I used to make tons of fun themed decks. Before XYZ I stopped playing and started MTG a year latter. Now I want to also get back into non competitive Yu-Gi-Oh. I have two questions I am hoping /tg/ can help.
>Is there a agreed ban list for casual players?
>Any good sites to help make deck list like tapped out.com?

Any feedback appreciated!
17 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>54203725
What I have seen is in casual play most people play 3 copies of any card, and only on copy of really powerful cards like Monster reborn, Call of the hunted, the God cards, and ect.
>>
>>54203725
Hey, welcome back to YGO! It's awesome to see people getting into it
>Is there an agreed ban list for casual players?
Most people I've come across in casual play use the most recent advanced format ban list in the TCG. These ban lists seem to be used universally, so keep that in mind.
>Any good sites to help make deck list like tapped out.com?
There are websites that can be used as deckbuilding tools, if that's what ya mean? Most things should be relatively easy to find with a quick google search.
>>
>>54204206
Thanks for the advice, I found a site called YGOPRODECK, I just like to see all the card images laid out when making a deck list.

As for the ban list I am surprised so many casual players use advanced. Cards like Heavy Storm, Gaint Trunada, and Premature Burial seemed fine at limed to one. But thank you for the advice, I do appreciate it.

Why is it that so many series that have hereditary magic never actually bother thinking out the consequences? In Harry Potter why can Muggleborns compete with Purebloods? Many Pureblood families have enough wealth to get the best equipment and private tutors and even the poorest families have centuries of magical knowledge to draw on, plus all the inbreeding in the Wizarding World should lead to Purebloods having a higher number of magical traits than muggleborns, so why isn't there a skill gap? Moreover if there is absolutely no difference between purebloods and muggleborns why is pureblood supremacy such a factor in wizard society, shouldn't it be wizard supremacy? A muggleborn is a wizard equal to a pureblood and their children will be wizards equal to a pureblood, so literally the only difference is class based except not even class seems to matter that much but Rowling still wanted to make a book about Wizard Hitler so she added a bunch of racial stuff that makes no sense in context of the series. And even then she couldn't help herself and had to make Wizard Hitler a half-muggle.

>magic is hereditary in Harry Potter
It isn't, though.
Squibs aren't as rare as you think they are, them being "the exception" it's just what Purebloods want you to think.

Magic in Harry Potter isn't hereditary despite being considered as such.
There is no proof in Harry Potter source material as to the magic being hereditary.
There is proof in Harry Potter source material as to the magic NOT being hereditary in the form of Muggleborns.

It's just people mixing up correlation with causation in-universe.

Harry Potter is just the example that came to mind but the problem exists in most rpg settings.

Pitch to me your adventure, campaign, or encounter ideas in 5 sentences or less!

They could prove very useful for the game I've been working on.

Here are some ideas to get your juices flowing:

>In preparation of seizing absolute power, a would be king goes deep into the spirit world to make unholy pacts with malevolent entities. This greatly empowers him and enables him to display terrifying powers never before seen by the world.

>a rogue Earth Kingdom province uses cutting-edge technology to succeed from the Kingdom. The rogue nation is lead by a mysterious faction of non-benders known only as The Order which wishes to expand the influence of non-benders by waging war against benders under the guise of returning the world to the "natural" order.

It...doesn't actually have to be less than 5 sentences. You can take a whole post, if you want.
>>
>A massive, traveling collective of benders of all kinds are stealing away flying bison, badger moles, dragons, and other "bender" animals, and non-benders, and trapping them together in a mad experiment to see if they can force non-benders into learning bending.
>>
>Panic and terror spreads across the country as rumors suggest that that Avatar has gone mad, destroying everything in their path and, in turn, creating unrest in the spirit world. The party must prepare their country for the Avatar's arrival should these rumors be true, and discover how to either destroy or cure the Avatar of this madness.

Can someone give me a rundown of the Amonkhet storyline? I can't find a good summary online and fuck me if I'm reading through a dozen articles
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I want a summary too. Bumping.
>>
I'll try.

So while Kaladesh is throwing a party, the Avengers get together and someone brings up that Bolas is on Amonkhet. Ajani, who has spanked Bolas before, is like
>hey guys, don't go do the thing because he's better than all of you. Now I'm gonna go over here and not watch
I forgot who, but some of the Defenders of the Earth are down for doing the thing. Lili has a demon to kill there, so she helps prod them along.
And away they go.
So they show up in the desert. By the way, Amonkhet is 99% deathworld. They almost get bodied by the wildlife but Oketra noscopes the wildlife from Canadian range. They make their way to the 1% that isn't miserable and it's pretty cushy. The dead serve the living and everyone is preparing for trials that leave a big plothole in the way of reproduction. Samut is arrested and dragged through the streets for being a heretic. Mystery Inc. splits up.
Jace and Lili find a mummy factory and that's when Jace learns about the demon.
Nissa goes to ask the bird God something but learns a fragment of Emrakul is embedded in her brain. The fragment solves the blue trial so fast that Kefnet gets butthurt and tosses Nissa to the curb.
Gideon is cumming all over the place due to gods and trials and teamwork until he joins a group for the black trial, which was a really good story you should read. Basically, the trial is about leaving others behind and ambitiously killing others. Here, Gideon learns that the trials are basically fetishizing death and that's like a cold shower for him.
We get a little backstory where Samut, the boy who wants to dick her, and the bird boy who REALLY wants to dick her go exploring outside the city. Bird boy dies, RIP best boy. The other two learn that Bolas is not actually a God pharaoh, which Djeru refuses to accept. This leads into Samut's arrest from earlier. Chandra frees her.
So the last trial is the red trial. All of the Guardians of the Galaxy are there along with Samut. Character limit.
>>
there are youtube videos of people reading it if that is more your speed.

However, in essence:
Gatewatch come to amonkhet to stop bolas who will arrive, they trod through the desert fighting off the undead that is a curse on the world (undead rise yada yada). They make it to naktamun, a city under a giant water barrier called the hekma, that keeps the deserts grip away from the mortals that live there.

They see the people of amonkhet and the gods that walk among them and how they protect the people from the deserts grips while testing them, gideon gets super fanboy over oketra. hears about trials. The trials are a set of challenges that test a initiate and if they succeed in them, they are awarded a cartouche(medal) that signifies their glory. Succeed enough and get the honor of the trial of zeal and you can get a place into the afterlife promised by the god pharaoh Nicolas Picklus himself. meets a bloke named djeru, his crop (group) ~20 i think, needs another person for the trials due to samut, being cut for heresy. Gideon joins and they beat the white trial of solidarity.

Meanwhile jace does jace things and liliana is there to beat demon #3 which lies behind the gate of the afterlife, the place the honored dead are put until nicholus picklus comes back to reward them all.

Nissa enters the blue trial without knowing after listening to the world and hear it dying, and something about emerkul fucking with her mind during it, kefnet gets mad that she is messing with his blue trial and somehow nissa changes laylines within kefnet and "succeeds in her trial" (also assumed how she gets to be U/G in amonket).

Then later gideon and crop go for the black trial of ambition, it is a slaughterfest and most of the members die. In the end there are 9 initiates including gideon and djeru, they get to the end and bontu tells them they must kill each other and present a heart to pass the trial.

Do you deliberately have to make your character flawed in personality in some way?

You will regularly fail due to dice and/or dwindling resources.

You will reliably make mistakes and poor decisions as a player (and thus your character will make mistakes and poor decisions) due to hasty judgment, not thinking things through properly, lack of information, or irrationality.

The GM will indirectly make your character fail because of the actions of the NPCs and the environment.

With so many points of failure, do you have to add even more to your character by intentionally giving them a flawed personality too?

Flawed characters are more interesting. People are imperfect, and embracing those imperfections, making them interesting things to roleplay is part of the fun for me.

How common is player death, really? Like, how often have you played the same character on a long campaign from start to finish without having to make up a backup character?

I'm asking because if I have to go through pathfinder's character creation and refining I'm gonna flip a tit and I'd rather leave the moment I'm confirmed dead.

Not common unless you're playing with a particularly murderous GM who has you fight stuff way beyond early level.
>>
>>54201286

Depends on playstyle. I've never had a character die.

I've never had a player die on me. One did have to drop out of the game because he got really sick, though.
