Pretty sure we've been through this, and iirc he's a paladin of propane (and propane accessories).

>spend multiple days a week preparing for the campaign
>nothing big or railroady, just a few missions they, as members of a mercenary squad of sorts, can fulfill at their leisure
>no major overarching plot but multiple organizations and individuals working to fulfill their own goals
>players love the idea and express massive interest every week

>players create numbers on a sheet with no backstory or personality and get flustered when they don't receive development
>players ignore every piece of character development they experience and revert back to a blank slate every session
>players ignore or simply miss extremely obvious character development moments
>have only asked for a paragraph at most in terms of backstory (just something enough to work with really)
>players either boast about their miniscule development they actually remembered or are just blatantly minmax and actively try to hurry through RP just to be able to hit something
>even after implementing exactly what they ask for my players just don't care about anything, just hitting and shooting things and getting money

I'm not asking for extreme dedication or anything but shit, after doing so much of the work you directly asked me to on the setting like you asked me to make at least fucking pretend to care. It's fucking heartbreaking. Every week I try to give you people my best but you just don't fucking care

I'm gonna get drunk. Sorry to bother you /tg/

Shortly describe your favourite setting and why you like it.
For me its conanesque settings where there is civilization and barbarism existing next to eachother.
I like it because it has room for a lot of adventure while having enough variation in locales.

Fantasy set in or inspired by the Late Antiquity / Early Medieval periods.

Generic 15th century Western Europe pastiche fantasy is probably one of the things I'm least interested in because of oversaturation.

Are Griffons as intelligent as dragons?
107 posts and 21 images submitted.
>>
>>54409480
No.
At least in DnD Dragons are sentient creatures of great power and Griffons end up as just cool mounts
>>
>>54409480
Depends on the Dragon. In 3.5 for example a young white dragons are pretty simple minded.
>>
>>54409480
Depends on the setting.

Alternatively:
Possible answer 1: YES, they are.
Possible answer 2: NO, they are not.
Possible answer 3: MAYBE, some are, some are not.
There is no other possible answer that isn't a variation of those three.

While I'm working (usually slow tasks with lots of idle time) I like to think about stuff. Sometimes I come up with characters for DnD, even though I have no one to play with (feelsbadman.jpg). One character I had in mind was a halfling with shitty wisdom but good with cooking. I found the thought that she would use Alchemist's Fire as an ingredient for baking just to see what happens hilarious, but that got me wondering: what do you guys think would happen if you cooked using different potions as ingredients?
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>54408711
Alchemist's fire is NOT suitable an a ingredient, however, it is capable of adding flavor to a dish through being used to cook the food as a result of unique heating properties. That being said using potions and other alchemical substances in a dish can greatly effect and improve its flavor in addition to having the potions effects being applied to the consumer of the dish in some altered form, this can be very dangerous, however most dangerous culinary concoctions tend to explode in the process of being made. Incorporating alchemy into cooking is just as dangerous as any other form of alchemy, so it is not for the faint of heart and dishes made with alchemical ingredients should be treated like any new potion that you create. If you keep this in mind you will be able to enhance your dishes far beyond what you would normally be able to.

First time gm here. I'm setting up a game with some rather green friends and I had an idea to at least partly base the setting and magic on one of my favourite books growing up, the bartimaeus trilogy.

In the book, most of the world's power rests within an oligarchy of magicians who rule utilizing demon summoning. All magic is performed indirectly through binding demons to items to make them magical and controlling them to do their bidding.

For the game I need to strike a balance. If I followed the setting and rules of the book physical damage to demons by non-demons would be pretty much useless. However, I don't want the demons to essentially be a magic-wielder with extra-steps. I was thinking about something closer to a stand user, but like I said this is my first time creating a game and I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

Silver weapons, my dude. Also magicians can still do minor magic like fireballs and shit, which hurt low or middle-class demons.

Hey /tg/

I'm running some people through DnD 3.5 in a culture clash between NOT Europe and NOT Mesoamerica and I need help daydreaming tonight's session.

Penny for your thoughts?

The party consists of a selfish mailman who pockets the gifts of the intended mail recipients, a druidess who has been wandering the region, and a paladin from the NOT Europe capital city.

We've played once so far.

The paladin is investigating the disappearance of some frontier settlers, and has enlisted the mailman, since he carries post throughout the region, and the druidess since she is familiar with the wildlife.

They've found the bodies of half of the missing settlers around a serpent headed shrine, but we called the night before they ventured inside.

>Giant psyco-active toads
>Not¡Measoamerican spellcasters are basically shamans and blood mages
>There are lots of legends regarding the fauna of Not¡Mesoamerica, so lots of Not¡Europeans go there to try hunt down monsters and get rich with their body parts

Can't think of anything else at the time. Good luck.

>Aztec Mythology info taken from a /tg/ thread

>Okay, its disappointing how little anyone in this thread actually seems to know about the Aztecs beyond HURR DURR SACRIFICES.

>Here is what you need to know, OP: the Aztecs believed they were the last remaining descendants of the chosen people, and the only ones left who could save the world.

>The world had already ended 4 times before, each time destroying the 'people' of that age with a unique calamity and paving the way for new life. Floods and shit like that.

>Our world already has an ending written for it. Eventually the sun god will die and the world will plunge into eternal night. In the darkness, monsters will descend from the stars and devour what walks the Earth. We dont know what, or if, the world that follows will be like.

>Aztec rituals are designed to buy us more time before this happens, usually by feeding the sun god, or generally check up on the health of the world. There is a fire ritual that they would do that asks if the world can end in the next 33 years. Not will or wont, but can or cannot.

>They had nationalized schooling, universal mandatory military service and a meritocratic system of climbing the socio-economic ladder.

>Any every other fucking tribe around them hated them and wanted them dead. They were a great Empire but it was doubtful they would have gone any further. That was why Cortez had a native army with many tens of thousands.

Sup /tg/. I'm at a bit of a loss at the moment because I'm in a pathfinder campaign and cannot find a couple of items that I know exist in the books. One is a magic item and the other is mundane. The mundane item is a portable crane. I know it's in the books somewhere but I cannot for the life of me find it. Anyone know what book it is in? It's possible that it's in a 3.5 book but I don't think so.

The magic item is a tent. It's a banner that can be planted into the ground and turns into a war commanders tent, has a map table in the center that gives bonuses towards mass combat. It's a neat item that has pretty limited functionality, but for the campaign we are playing it would be pretty nice.

Can y'all help me out here, I'm pulling my hair out.
