My Dream campaign as a GM would be to make something based on these over the top Animes where everyone plays a game way too fucking seriously, in a kind of self aware near parodic way.

The thing is these animes are usually centered around an accessory : Yu-Gi-Oh has cards, Beyblade has spinners etc and I don't know how to incorporate that in a tabletop since I can't seriously tell my players to buy yu-gi-oh cards for a fucking rpg game.

The only idea I had so far would be a campaign centered around a basketball game played with giant mechs (because everything needs to be played with mechs huh), kind of like in that shitty anime called Basquash, But I feel like I can get way more ridiculous than that so I'd like to hear your ideas

Just run Card Ranker.

Check out Build Gundam.

It's rather self aware of just how ridiculous it is.

Would western europe turn into stagnat, inward looking theocracy should some medieval pope succeed with the Donation of Constantine plot and reunified former WRE lands under his rule?

>>
As opposed to a splintered set of stagnant, inward looking monarchies with a stagnant, inward looking theocracy bossing them around?
Probably not, because it would splinter within half a century, and things would go on as they did in real life.
>>
>>54402438
IDK about the splintering, would common soldiers want to rise against the holy father?

It would be pretty stable, if local dukes are kept on long enough leash.

>>54402438
Not really. There was plenty of heresy going around at all times and the time they had three popes was one of the calmer periods of church history.

Hey guys,

I'm starting to run a new campaign for a group of noobs and I pay a lot of attention to detail. We are starting in Faerun, near Baldur's gate and I'd like to present them the world - like one important thing each session about the setting. How should I approach this? I was thinking of presenting the factions, (they meet a druid - Emerald enclave, a group of mercenaries - Zhentarim, ...)? How should I present Faerun/Sword coast to them?

thank

Make them do their equipment shopping in Waterdeep, having to meet merchants of various guilds, priests from temples for services like blessings, and run into faction representatives in the taverns and drawing rooms of various places. Waterdeep is such a cosmopolitan city that it can have people from all over Faerun, who will happily talk about their country/land/people/magical order/whatever over a mug of cold ale.

In this one we were playing the second pathfinder module in the series that's name escapes me, but the hook was to investigate petrus' murder with his daught kendra who becomes pet girl

>be me, human paladin of saren ray from a small abbey in a fishing village
>order sends me to investiage and purge some undead fuckery
>arrive late to the final battle of the first module, get to blast a bunch of undead with some adventuring party
>during the battle one adventurer died in some poison gas, and one was blinded, and departed to play werewolf pack politics
>remainimg adventurers explain they're after the undead cultists and explain about the whispering way
>decide to join forces to accomplish my mission and save lives in the next module

>we reach the village and get ambushed by the riders we were tracking, and end up retreating, then chasing to another village
>just outside of town we find an emaciated man chained from a tree on the path into town
>to my surprise the party is furious i cut the man down and give him food and drink
>seems were i saw a man in torture of starvation in need of aid, the party thought it a warning of the town ahead
>i carry understandably irritable chained man in to town and investiage whodunnit
>find out it was the sherrif, claiming the man a murderer, but i detect more than reasonable levels of evil when we meet

>we meet at sunset in the town square and go toe to toe while the party takes bets and eats popcorn, i bring chainz and sit him on a barrel looking on the duel
>he almost defeats me with a pair of well aimed criticals, but i accidentally purge him to death with a smiting critcal
>during the fight, those more questionable by the day adventurers abducted chainz and delivered him to the mayor who locked him in the vacant sherrifs office
>when the mayor arrives and is satisfied by witness accounts that this was a perfectly legal and binding trial by combat and that chainz is to depart with me once we investigate the cult in town

>they were kind of creepy secretive and refused, and i took notice their decor and altars looked unlike those if the god they claimed to worship
>on my way out i run into te scoundrel type from the adventurers who asks me to run a distraction while he sneaks in and disguises as one of them
>i agree to get the mission done, but warn him not to do anything rash. I return inside and explain it was rude of me not to offer something to study first
>i reveal my enchanted/blessed greatsword given to me by my church and they recoil, presumably at its aura of good
>in the meantime the scoundrel knocks out and disguises as one of the priests and on my way out i take the knocked out man into the woods
>i tie him to a tree and ask him about his order and get no answers other than attempts at casting, so i must gag and simply watch him waiting for word from the party

Thats where latest session ended and i was wondering where to go from here. Group tension is high, i fear i may be an outlyer in an low alignment party

Tell me /tg/, should i collect my man to be redeemed and write myself out and play a more grey character?

What it says on the tin.

Back in the 2000's, it seemed like a bunch of tabletop RPG's had these 'mass' adaptations for the Internet, where you would get your character approved by a Storyteller or mod or whatever. Once there, you'd have more-or-less freeform social interaction RP with the other players, and every now and then the mods would come on to run a 'scene' where real moves can be made.

The structure was supposed to be like talk talk talk action, talk talk talk action, ad infinitum. World of Darkness had these games pop up and disappear almost constantly. But now I don't see them as much.

What happened? I know Wanton Wicked is still up, but what about the rest of them? What happened? What was the appeal, and why hasn't it kept up? Or am I just out of touch?

A short story about a plan working against all odds.

>Playing Dark Heresy 1st Edition.
>Playing a Noble Assassin from a Rogue Trader family.
>Sent on a mission to recover a specific book that we didn't grab on a different mission, because we missed the chance to grab it amongst other things.
>Skipping over the boring stuff, we get the book and the bitch who took it too.
>We gotta wait for pickup, but the planet is way too dangerous due to a Slaugth being after us.
>Luckily a Rogue Trader's ship is in orbit, use connections to get a pickup. Turns out it's Dad.
>We stash the book and all seems safe.
>One day later, the book's gone.
>We run to the hanger to see a guncutter about to liftoff.
>We try to block the door, it still gets through
>Everyone seems fine with giving up the chase, since only one person on the team can barely pilot spacecraft.
>NotToday.jpg
>Grab the crappy pilot, force them to fly after it.
>Shoot out the engines while avoiding enemy ship fire, board the enemy guncutter with NPC men at arms.
>Fucking Slaugth, TWO OF THEM!
>Avoid the one who comes out to fight, leave the men as distraction.
>Get inside Guncutter, face to face with a Slaugth.
>Do a smart and hit the button that opens the doors.
>Slaugth and myself are sucked into space, it still has the book.
>Shitty pilot (Also the team Psyker) flies to come get me.
>Use grapple gun to grab the book.
>Roll strength test against the Slaugth, who is super fucking strong.
>SLAUGTH FAILS STRENGTH TEST!
>Get the book, shitty pilot manages to not kill me on pickup. Fly back to ship.
>Did all of this while barely passing rolls, high use of fate points, and a bit of determination.
>GM tells me by actually succeeding in all this, I ended up making the party skip a third of the plot he had prepared for the next session.

this is a once in a lifetime, always open offer where you can place your vision into the reality you live in, but in a way only you can understand due to the nature of the essence of game design and the harshness of living within that view for knowing it is the only thing you want to be.

this is the idea: a roleplay site with a community-moderated magic and crafting system design proccess, where people can livechat while observing posts towards ideas which can get voted on by the current-highest-voted participants to advance or get a 30% majority vote from all other participants within that level before it can be rated up or down, as ratings cause that choice to appear as the "canon" procedure for the conditions of that operation being conducted.

this would be besides a sepperate, but attached system where players outside of adventuring or doing the dirty doings, can battle in close-combat with rules for engagement or magic-building/alchemic interaction exchanges with moderated judges to decide if the expected result [hidden from other player] is fair or using his knowledge of the system decide on the actual expression of the engagement.

generic magic systems created for this purpose would be implemented, and we need people to help initiate a standard operating procedure for the interaction of observable events to establish this most holy of courses.

this will take hard work from a bunch of nerds but i know we can do it.

this is it, our reward outside heaven.

I think basing design off of what percentage of people agree with it is, while it sounds good, is actually a recipe for disaster.

Mechanics individually aren't worthwhile until we see how it plays together with the whole of the mechanics.
>>
>>54399290
well, thats why i put it in at such a low percentage for the vote and also just in ranks which can also be adjusted manually by promoted sortmakers decided by staff.

I just played Red Dead Redemption and now I have a hunger for stuff involving the Old West and American Frontier in general. Specifically stuff involving frontiersmen, fur trappers, and survivalist types, but also Bandits and Outlaws, train robbers, etc.

What systems are best suited for this, and have the best associated fluff?
What books, movies, and games should I check out for more of the setting?

I hear a lot about Deadlands and Dogs in the Vineyard, but this kind of setting never was my kind of stuff. Maybe you should check it out.

Watch a few of the classic western films. The Good the Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Magnificent Seven, A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More.

I haven't played them personally, but try the Call of Jaurez games. If you can find it, an older game called Samurai Western for the PS2. Oh, and Red Dead Revolver.

Is best setting. Strongly recommended regardless of what people are actually wanting to play.

I'm pretty sure this conflict died out ages ago, but I'm curious...

Was there ever a winner? If not, can we figure out a realistic answer with knowledge of their specialties and history of both their modern day and historic variants?

I mean, if we take a group of 10 pirates (including their captain) versus a group of 10 ninjas (including their sensei) who all have obtained the various skills their known for having from inception to modern day, who would win?

Also, greentext thread
