>What is the best Familiar in the game
>And why is it Pooka

I'm from the last thread with the theoretical wizard organization.

But what I'm thinking is using profession and crafting rules to see how much my followers can make.

lets assume a character has on average a +2 mod in either wisdom or intelligence (if they're doing a profession or craft). So level 1s have a +6, 2s a +7, and so on.

We count undead on taking 10 on a profession check as an unskilled laborer.

At level 7 I have 28 undead, an int mod of +8, a guildhall, and a generous reputation, giving me a total leadership score of 18.

35 Level 1 followers get 16 per, so 8gp per week.

3 Level 2 followers get 17 per, so 8gp per week again.

1 level 3 follower gets 18 per, so 9gp per week.

1 level 4 follower gets 19 per, so 9gp per week.

38*8(level 1/2 followers)+2*9(level 2/3 followers)+.1*36(zombies)+8*2 (level 1/2 graduates)+9*2 (level 3/4 graduates)+10*2 (level 5/6 graduates) = 380gp per weeks of money generated. This is then put towards making constructs, namely homunculi, which can be made once every 3 weeks at this rate.

This only gets faster as I level up, heading towards

148*8+11*9+4*10+.1*88+8*2+9*2+10*2+11*2+12*2+13*2+14*2+15*2+16*2+17 = 1564.8 gp per weeks. This would be able to make a homunculi per weeks.

Each homunculi would be trained in a craft skill, and provide a 11 on a take 10, netting 5gp per weeks.
>>
Will we ever get a construct race that isn't small?
>>

Port over the warforged? If you drop their -2 to either wisdom or cha, they end up roughly balanced as a PF race.

In the 41th millenia the Imperium of Man is at siege at all fronts. Losing and gaining terriotory happend daily. But the Imperium would collapse if it weren't for the Imperial Navy that binds all the planets together for the God Emperor.

You are the captain of one of the Emperors finest ships the Imperium can offer. What type of ship do you command?

>Emperor class battleship: Can have up to 8 squadrons of attack crafts in it's hangar bays. Has a few Lance batteries and other minor turrets and cannons.
>Retribution Class Battleship: Strong prow, main cannons are on it's broadside
>Apocalypse Class Battleship: Only has Lance and Nova cannons, is a bit harder to maneuver that most ships
>Oberon Battleship: Jack of all trades, master of none.

>3 votes for a ship is requered to have a ship

the quest will continue after you have chosen your ship

Why did you put an apostrophe there

Like, okay, sometimes you make a mistake when it comes to certain contexts, like possessive nouns, but I can't think of any path of logic that would lead to a person thinking an apostrophe goes where you put it.

So is Most Holy Terra meant to be Earth in the future? I was reading through some of the fluff and I think GW has put clues suggesting this. For example Terra means Earth in ancient Greek. Also one of the planets in Terras solar system is Mars - coincidence??!?!

Has anyone else noticed this and if so, is it just a running joke from GW or do think they will reveal it as a plot twist in the future, for example in one of the summer campaigns?

>>
This isn't news, or hidden by GW. Terra is actually earth in the 41st millennium. Mentioned or obviously hinted at in many canon texts
>>
>>43726525
There are some similarities, sure, but I think you're reading way too much into it. There's no way that it could actually be earth.

It's probably some retarded patois bastardization like Yrth or Uaerth or something copyrightable.

GW is finally advancing the fluff. The new Mont'ka book is going to shake up the Status Quo (at least for the Tau) and change things permanently. Oh boy does this sets a precedent.

One of these characters (with models) is going to die by Imperial assassin hands. Which one will it be?

Will this fluff advancement will be a start of a trend of more setting advancement? Is 40K going to the direction of the End Times? What other plotlines do you guys want to be advanced/resolved?

My Idea: the entire game system revolves around rolling one dice to determine the outcome of a situation. The turn goes:

Player Nominates Action (the Shout)
GM says the number they have to beat (the Call)
Player rolls the Dice (the Gamble)

So in a example game (lets say set in a lovecraft universe, however this system is versatile enough to work in ANY univese):

GM: "you are jumped out on by a Shaggoth"
Player: "I SHOUT to chop his head of"
GM: "I CALL this has a 5/6 chance of success"
Player: (rolls dice A.K.A. the GAMBLE)

[Averge dice roll is four, so lets say he rolls a four]

GM: "Well done mate, you chopped the Shaggoths head of. Now a Deep One is coming into the room"
Player: "I SHOUT to try and trick him
GM: "I CALL this has a 1/6 chance
Player: (Rolls Dice)

[rolls a four]

GM: "No he's wise to your trick. Try something else"

etc etc

So, as a base gameplay mechanic how would you rate this? If I developed my system would anyone on here be inteseted in playing games run using it? My reasoning is that it's fast, easy to pick up and gives a fast paced game, whicle being an original system. Cons are it's potentially repetitive to keep using the same three parts of a turn over and over, and relies too much on the dice.

Thoughts?

This is no different than 90% of system that set a DC you're attempting to hit, except you remove modifiers and the DCs are decided by the GM arbitrarily. This isn't a bad thing, just not unique in the slightest.

Player and GM bet hidden d4 pools against each other. More even numbers means you win, but if you lose you have to put your d4s on the floor and step on them.

Regale us with tales of the greasiest neckbeards you've encountered, why were they so gross and what did you do?

>bored in college
>join local Tabletop Club to pass the time
>expect the worst
>most people actually pretty presentable, non-autistic, friendly
>but then of course there's THAT GUY
>about 300lbs, never showers or uses seemingly any form of hygiene
>permanent pizza stains down the front of all his shirts
>sits next to me
>the stench of ten thousand sweaty armpits mixed with piss wafts over me
>try to move chair as far as possible from him and remain downwind
>opens his mouth to release an autismal grunt about the rules and doritos and dew fumes melt my face off
>fuck me why did he sit here
>unsurprisingly he's an autistic rules lawyer who picks the stupidest characters possible and immediately attempts to derail everything.
>attempts to kill me for jokingly appointing myself the sheriff when that was 'his title'.
>end up pushing his shit in eventually so he immediately demands to switch games
Eventually he left and the rest of the night was enjoyable with all the semi-normal people playing but don't these people have any sense of shame? Why don't you at least wash your pizza stained clothes you fat fuck?

same thing basically, a huge fat fucker in my first group who rolled up a homebrew witcher race/class and always tried to seduce every woman he met

At my own local college gaming club I've run into a few rancid individuals.

One guy (I never knew his name but people sometimes called him Stinkpit) was really huge, tall, about 350lbs or more, and the type of guy who doesn't carry the weight well at all, like he has a really thin bone structure so he looks way fatter even than he probably is. He would always wear dirty pants and stained, stretched to fuck t-shirts, had longish hair that was always greasy and sort of wet. He smelled ungodly, so bad that getting anywhere near the guy was a nightmare. I've met a lot of guys who smell bad, like literally smell like rotting garbage, but he was maybe the worst. The first time I came into a room with him, a classroom that could seat about a hundred people, from almost fifteen feet away I got a whiff of him and I physically covered my face with my mouth with me hand and turned away. I didn't even know what it was yet I was smelling, it just felt like I wanted into a dump. When he would use the bathroom, you couldn't go in there for like fifteen minutes, because the BO was so concentrated in the smallness of the room it would made you nauseous to breathe in there.

The guy also seemed, I don't know, off. I never heard him speak or saw him really focus on people. He would stand or sit, often for long stretches, just staring, at people or at walls or things, his mouth often agape. He had this vibe where you looked at him across a room and just immediately thought "that guy's retarded". Not like downs, but like a Forest Gump kind of thing, low IQ, inability to really engage with reality.
>>
>>43725887
Another guy a few years ago at the same club was much older, probably in his 40s or 50s. He was pretty big too, had a big ass beard. He was the aggressive type of socially awkward, not like he was shy, but he was loud, forceful, angry, demanding of others all the time in a very inappropriate way. I remember once he got angry at a pizza shop that someone was "poaching" his players, because they asked the table of people eating pizza if anyone wanted to play Catan. He got up and was full throated shouting and cursing at this 19 year old asian kid, cursing so loud you could hear him all through the restaurant and everyone was just sort of shocked and silent.

The guy also smelled kinda bad, but not as bad as the average Magic player at the club. What was really gross about him was how unclean he was. He had really long fingernails and there would be grime and mud caked under them, as though he had not cut them or properly washed his hands in days or weeks. Once he showed up with shit on his underwear, the inside and outside of the back of his pants, up the skin of his back and up the back of his t-shirt. There was a lot of it, and when he would lean forward you could see inches of the stuff, caked on and dry like it had been there for hours. He sat there for four or five hours like that, seemingly unaware, then went home.

Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played the one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

The quiet in the room was near deafening, the only sounds being those of distant wordless noise from the courts below the Tower of the Sun. Upon your eyes a heated rage so deeply seeded it almost tore you apart by mere thought. Conversely, upon Lord Jon Arryn’s, one of immense displeasure, as if he had just eaten a foul egg. It was a disdain that extended to yourself, you were unsure of who to blame in this. From the moment you had stepped foot in King’s Landing your head had been filled with lies, both boldly to your own face and those in quiet word behind closed door. The Spider, the King, his Queen, and even the men you thought you could trust the most, Dontos and the Lord Hand, gave you false truths. Prevented you from single truth. That your sister, Isis Malroy, yet lived.

Your lips attempt to form word, and though a pain in your temple complimented the wild fire upon your eyes attempted to prevent such you choke out a few in a harsh whisper, sounding more of threat than question, “Where is she?”

Lord Arryn ruffles himself up like Benjin would, the elderly man looking far more his age with each coming word, as if each pulled at the few teeth he had left, “My Lord Malroy. Before I continue, we must coming to an agreement. Your actions in the coming months will determine the path of your House, of the Crownlands immediately beyond King’s Landing. Your actions must be kept, they need be careful. I need you to keep lips locked, focus upon what we need do. Not what they wish you to do.”
>>
The burning upon your face has extended to your ears by now, his words washed upon you. Again preaching to you of your actions, of the need for subtle step, rather than brash booted foot crashing through the bloody gates of your enemies, “Who is they?”

“Lord Royce Redward, no doubt the Landwards possibly the Blounts. They would like nothing more than to see you attempt to go to war with them.”

Three houses again, to your one, upon thought you remember the Dargoods and their possible position in this, of your family’s long standing disdain of the Thorne’s and theirs of yours. Of House Celtigar and their connections to the other Valryian Houses. The hidden shadows that held daggers to your throat claiming dedication to a Magister of Myr. Upon every border far and wide their seemed to be an enemy. You were unsure of House Chelsted, further of Chyttering. The Longwaters were likely your staunchest allies in this, a mere footnote in the grander scheme of things. You wished to rip them all to shreds with your own hands so hell bent on vengeance, of seeking revenge, yet...

“Lord Redward is in current possession of your sister,” he continues, his eyes of grey sky locking with yours in defiant fearless notion, “Upon the conclusion of the Rebellion your House was diminished to less than three members, that the crown knew of my Lord. Your aunt in the Crownlands, your Uncle whose location we did not know at the time, and your sister. Lord Redward had taken her hostage during the Sack of King’s Landing, before my time there. The King had taken court many times, giving favor and deeds of land and personage with little thought to them. It was there Lord Redward had been granted your lands south of the Blackwater Rush, where he requested ownership of your keep of Steadhold, by right of marriage to Lady Isis. He had been granted all of these things, your family likely would have become bannered to his own, had Ser Dontos been the only one we knew of.”
>>
“The man that murdered my family, that betrayed them upon the field of battle, raped and kidnapped my mother and sister, he is granted all of this? Where is the justice in this? How could such a thing be allowed?”

“There is no justice in war my Lord. The victor enjoys exclusive right to the narrative that shall follow, where you would see a turn coat, another would see a war hero.”

You rise from your seat, slowly, with purpose and turn your back to Lord Arryn. Your body shudders from the sheer rage building upon your mind, “Why did they lie to me?” you throw over your shoulder.

“Lord Varys recommendation my Lord. When Ser Dontos arrived in King’s Landing to our summons months prior to your own he had informed us of your existence. He warned of your brash actions, of not knowing the man you had become in your time in Essos. It had become abundantly clear to us in order to prevent the extinction of your House we would need to keep certain truths from light. I ill liked it. Having just arrived to serve the King as his Hand I was still in the midst of fixing wrongs done by reckless decrees. At that point in time I had little other choice than to mitigate the damage done. And to wait.”

“Wait?” you had begun to pace back and forth the room, eyes landing upon the Sea of Dorne whenever you would cross to the window again.

“Yes my Lord Malroy. To wait. For your arrival, to gain measure of you, of the man I had only knew upon words of a broken Uncle and a spymaster. Your youth betrays you my Lord, upon you is the air of a Lord. But yet your actions speak to a man still conflicted by his very nature. I knew you needed to be tempered, your focus upon your House. Before... “ he sighs deeply, pinching the brow of his nose, “Before I could tell you this.”

The nicest way to call you a sellsword still playing at Lord, “Why tell me at all? Do you not betray the King in doing so?”

I will be hosting it at an event on Saturday. The idea is to give people the opportunity to test out the new rules and the new War on Terror setting.

There was a Kali Ghati thread the other day, and I was wondering if anyone has played it. The story was clearly stitched together hastily and has some shortcomings.

The military setting isn't typical for the old DG, but I think that's a good thing because the old way is still around and only the focus has shifted. So that's fine. But there are other problems.

The trail of clues is very weak. Basically the players have to come up with the idea to launch a drone themselves, have to pass a bunch of rolls for it to happen and be successful, and there's a good chance the drone will fail to deliver the location of the village. So what other ways to find the village are there?

Another problem is the creature reveal during the showdown. It just isn't a very inventive design. It serves its purpose for the story, but it doesn't evoke horror because it is so referential of Cthulhu. So how can it become a true horror without giving up its function?

I liked the ideas in the other thread, but we need to elaborate.

Also, are there other problems I'm not seeing yet?

Games like CoC, DG, Dread, etc. are not about playing a powerful hero who dominates almost every situation and keeps getting better at it.

Instead it is about playing a flavorful character torn by flaws and in no way equipped to deal with what they must face. Usually it ends in their demise. The fun is in the how.

Step after step you started to dash towards the Albino Gladiator as you felt how with each feet that you advanced more and more bionics activated, some mere seconds later your vibrowrists, electoos, luminen capacitors and the jet engines of your wings were connected, turning you into a blurry ball of electric light that advanced like a plasma projectile towards his doomed objective. The strange albino girl was also rushing towards you with her power claws and her head bizarrely spinning to swing the electro-flails that she had installed on her digestive track.

She was doomed.

You were faster, heavier and your bionics made your impacts even greater. You retracted your arm and released it in the form of a heavy unstoppable punch. The moment your metallic knuckles touched her face the quantity of Newtons that were liberated in that instant was massive, yet you could somehow feel all the damage that she had suffered. First her skull shattered, her eyes ruptured and exploded, afterwards several of her vertebrae became broken and misplaced, but she didn’t died yet, her death came mere seconds later when all the veins and flesh that connected her neck were ripped off from the impact.

Your punch was so great that you had decapitated her.

Her lifeless body somehow managed to stay upright for some seconds in which she showered you with a rain of blood and chemical products that coated you with crimson and multicolored fluids. The head continued flying in an arch that managed to reach the viewers, a couple of unlucky techpriests weren’t quick enough to avoid it and ended being affected by the head’s electro-flails, that were still attached to it and somehow continued activated.

There were other three gladiators that were fighting on the distance, when they saw what you were capable of they stopped and decided to create some kind of truce to unite their strength against you.

One carried with him the red hood and robes that revealed that he was a member of the Mechanicus, maybe it was an old techpriests that thought that he would have more future as a Gladiator or perhaps it was a Skitarii that did some crime and was punished to pay with his life in the Arena, he had a strange shield whose surface showed an oscillating frequency and carried with himself a mace that appeared to have some kind of mechanism inside of it.

The second one was a hulking mass of muscle and fat that was even bigger than you and whose origins are surely a failed experiment of some sort, it fought completely naked and had a constant look of stupidity on his face, still, you tried to be cautious and consider him as intelligent as the rest of the combatants.

The third one was a person of indeterminate gender that seemed to be heavily scarred and burned. Its armor was covered in grenades and used a grenade launcher in one hand and a flamer in the other. That fighter reeked of madness and insanity; it could be the most dangerous of them all for all you know.

You walked over the lifeless body of the fallen gladiator and started to meditate about what step to take next.

>Focus on the Skitarii warrior; try to make him see that you are like him and that you two should unite against the other two gladiators.
>Focus on the Hulking mass of muscle and fat. Use all your energy ranged weapons to turn him into a steaming pile of burning hot ashes.
>Focus on the the Flamer and Grenade warrior. Maybe you could use your eagle, Aquilax, to pull some pins of its grenades.
>Try to fight them all at once, give the watchers a great show.
>Write in.

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I felt we could put /tg/ in a holiday mood by sharing the best GM you ever had, in order to provide an example for all those running games in next two festive months.

My best GM story is simple. The guy knew had to run the game well and constantly brought new players in and taught them how to effectively play their characters. Really got into the rp aspect. Had a new voice for every NPC and sound effects for every new region we entered. Kept us fed during the sessions, which could go a bit long, sometimes 9-10 hours, but we never complained, (besides one night that ended up in a fistfight). That campaign was my favorite hands down.
