How would you port psychic blanks from 40k over to Shadowrun? And if you did, how would corps and authorities react to these walking balls of anti magic popping up?

it's shadowrun, the authorities would react to it the same way they react to absolutely everything else: they'd capture them, shove a lot of needles and probes into their asses and keep them in underground cells waiting for them to go berzerk and nuke half the city because they're tired of getting probed all the time by idiot scientists who think probing everything is the only way to get cred.

Pretty sure such things already exist, but they tend to be locational not persons. Since magic is the essence of life, really the only thing that could qualify would be a cyberzombie stapled together with cyber necromancy. Certain metatypes like gnomes have inherent magic resistance, but a full on essence hole would be something... Not alive. A real abomination. An un-thing.

As for how the corps and authorities would react, anon hit it. Experimentation, direction, exploitation, pogroms, etc

Alandi Lore When?

Song of Swords is a realistic fantasy tabletop RPG that draws inspiration from historical fechtbuchs, weapons and armor. Its combat system is fun as balls and it can be used for both fantasy and historical/mundane settings.

Call of the Void is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Ironically it also has a very realistic combat system based around modern firefights, and can handle mundane or magical settings.

Here's a .rar archive with the newest version of the rules as well as all related current working documents: http://www.mediafire.com/download/12xqm1p2q69m392/Song_of_Swords.rar

Here's Ballad of the Laser Whales' latest version: https://www.mediafire.com/?rtbjk51jnm2wv8a

Here's a wiki detailing SoS's fantasy setting, getting filled up bit by bit as Jimmy reveals more details. Its worth a look before asking for lore questions in the thread: http://tattered-realms.wikia.com/wiki/Tattered_Realms_Wiki

There's also a roll20 room where new players are encouraged to try the rules, test new rules, and find game breaking issues: https://app.roll20.net/join/346755/hRKd4w

Roll20 Note: The Room might be empty, but the people who teach the game still browse the thread frequently. If you're looking to learn and can't catch us in the Roll20 leave a request and we'll get to you as soon as possible.

So, I want to make a sort of morally gray plot for my PCs to solve and I have hard time comping up with actual turn of events.

We have a king who killed his brother and took the throne. All nice and well, since king's brother did some horrendous shit(_________), but because of a good reason (__________). In fact, many deem the old king to be a hero.

What did the old king do? How did things take place?

Can you please help me flesh this out more exactly, /tg/?

thanks

He massacred a whole shitload of immigrants who tried to flee into his country.

The reason?
Because they had no capacity to accept them all, and to do so would consign his people to a slow death by starvation and disease, leaving them ripe for invasion by an aggressive neighbor.
A king's first duty is to serve his nation.

/tg/ I have finally been blessed with the rarest and greatest boon that could ever be bestowed on another by a GM.
A wish, and I want /tg/'s help to make sure I don't waste it.

The character himself is a knight, chivalrous almost to the point of parody but in all other ways a completely normal knight who's been caught in an adventure involving bastard Queens and Gods and magic beings and demons and is basically way in over his head but still desperately clinging to Arthurian knightly values and mortal concepts such as "Honor" and "Renown" even as they are increasingly made irrelevant by the elevated beings around him.
He wants to prove himself as the "greatest and most honorable knight that ever lived" because he has a few family issues but also has a genuinely noble heart full of all that "smite evil protect the innocent stuff" that good and true knights are made of buried underneath his '2noble4knaves' surface of quixotic goofiness.

Also if it helps the God giving it to him is an Elf God of trees and nature and all that jazz.
Any help appreciated.

Anything you could get with that wish that's worth getting? You can get that without shortcuts. Work hard, defend the innocent, uphold justice, and do it all on your own terms.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Assuming such a thing existed, why the fuck would you ever sell it?

Unless of course the afterlife consisted of nothing but unspeakable horrendous torture that you'd never get used to for all of eternity.

A better question is, beyond the ability to have two kinds of environments they could live in, what benefit would something like this really confer?

If there's no long-term imperative for such an adaptation, it's not likely to stick around.

I guess what I'm asking is what kind of world would need to exist to spawn such a creature?

Essentially, the game and setting started as an over the top, too-ridiculous-for-mama wargame. Humankind ruled the galaxy but because of how fucked their dogma got, bureaucracy became so fucked there could be a whole planet making staples because some clerk was so sleep deprived that's the report he sent. Well, that clerk died shortly after that and no one noticed the difference so for 100 years that planet made staples until an inquisitor with a couple space marines came through thinking that it was a plan of the chaos god Tzeentch to disrupt the Imperium. It probably definitely was. Those were the good days. Now, we can discuss what it has become.

Any tips on utron? I kinda wanna build it. I think it will be good in my meta because we have a lot of grixis decks and little fast aggro. Lots of people run snapcaster in U-Tron now, but is it necessary?

Snappy not necesarry. If there is very little aggro you should do well. But the deck is bad in aggro heavy formats, which is why I dropped it to play hulk footsteps.

Think of a weak enemy from any RPG system. Weak enough that your party could tear through it like tissue paper in their first encounter. Got one? Good. Now make it so badass that when your party sees it, they will almost always nope the fuck out of there.

Flumphs.

Their touch turns magic items mundane. Irrevocably mundane. Items touched by a clumpy have to be melted down and recast just so they're possible to enchant.

> I will now Introduce you to Tucker's Kobolds.

From Dragon 127, pg. 3
Tucker's kobolds

This month's editorial is about Tucker's kobolds. We get letters on occasion asking for advice on creating high-level AD&D® game adventures, and Tucker's kobolds seem to fit the bill.

Many high-level characters have little to do because they're not challenged. They yawn at tarrasques and must be forcibly kept awake when a lich appears. The DMs involved don't know what to do, so they stop dealing with the problem and the characters go into Character Limbo. Getting to high level is hard, but doing anything once you get there is worse.

One of the key problems in adventure design lies in creating opponents who can challenge powerful characters. Singular monsters like tarrasques and liches are easy to gang up on; the party can concentrate its firepower on the target until the target falls down dead and wiggles its little feet in the air. Designing monsters more powerful than a tarrasque is self-defeating; if the group kills your super-monster, what will you do next—send in its mother? That didn't work on Beowulf, and it probably won't work here.

Worse yet, singular supermonsters rarely have to think. They just use their trusty, predictable claw/claw/bite. This shouldn't be the measure of a campaign. These games fall apart because there's no challenge to them, no mental stimulation - no danger.

In all the games that I've seen, the worst, most horrible, most awful beyond-comparison opponents ever seen were often weaker than the characters who fought them. They were simply well-armed and intelligent beings who were played by the DM to be utterly ruthless and clever. Tucker's kobolds were like that.

NUMENERA/THE STRANGE/GENERAL CYPHER SYSTEM THREAD.

Topic of the day: Why does no one play Numenera or the Strange? I've noticed finding games for it is really difficult, but I'm not sure why because the system is actually a lot of fun . Been in a campaign for half a year now.
130 posts and 16 images submitted.
>>
Someone in my normal group ran Numenera not too long ago.

It lasted 5 sessions before he unceremoniously ended the game because we obsessively investigated every single thing, and that's having bad wrong fun.
>>
I picked this up on a whim not knowing what it was when it was first released. Friends really want to play it. I really want to DM it. But it's a little intimidating, content-wise.

If anyone has run this before how do you go about it?
>>
>>43699443
I've just started running a Strange campaign and from what I can tell there's a big focus on rewarding exploration and for the DM to be more of a storyteller and the mechanics are kind of oriented that way. I've always leaned towards more RP/story than combat so I really like the fact that I don't have to roll ever and can focus on telling the story and setting the scene. It can be intimidating because most of the GM guides just say do whatever you want, which isn't super helpful advice, but it's actually easier to run than you'd think. If you're running Numenera start with the Devil's Spine adventure or something just to check it out and see if you dig it.

What, exactly, was this guy's hurry?

Look at it this way: You have countless planets out in the black with humans still on them from the glory days. You've decided that it's your right and duty to reunite all of humanity into a glorious, intergalactic empire.

All good so far.

You have made an alliance with techno-wizards and brought a goodly number of nearby planets into your empire. Your military might is so unmatched that you have yet to encounter a civilization that can hold out against your hundreds of billions of troops and genetically enhanced murder-machines. There is NO existential threat to your race other than distant, magical gods that you have decided not to tell anyone about ever because problems go away if you don't talk about them.

You are immortal. Your murderhobos live for centuries. Your population's ability to bump uglies is still working just fine. Your might can only grow.

Now, why the living hell was he in such a damn rush?

To get the Primarchs back?
They're immortal supermen designed to be more powerful than pretty much any foe in the galaxy, they can probably handle their shit regardless of how long you take to show. Or, if they're really that big a priority, put the damn Crusade on hold and devote a few centuries to search and rescue.

Was he afraid that the human populations outside the empire would die or be dominated by xenos?

It's been several thousand years, the worst has basically happened for them. And besides, we regularly see that any planet that isn't perfect for integration is just massacred and re-colonized.

TL;DR
Why did the Emperor have a self imposed time table/limit on his Crusade? An immortal being has zero reason to be impatient, especially after thousands of years of life.

>>
>>43699539
AFAIK nobody did at that point except maybe the Silent King. Remember the main reason they came to the galaxy is the Astronomicon acting as a beacon to them as well as the astropaths.

>>43698701
>To get the Primarchs back?
Yes.

>They're immortal supermen designed to be more powerful than pretty much any foe in the galaxy, they can probably handle their shit regardless of how long you take to show.
No. A lot of the problems came from the planets they were raised on. Shit, look at Angron. What should've been the ruler of the planet was turned into a bloodthirsty berserkermonster who hated everyone because of where he landed. Just one example, mind you.

>Or, if they're really that big a priority, put the damn Crusade on hold and devote a few centuries to search and rescue.
That's pretty much what he was doing. He needed the Primarchs in place and running his armies as soon as possible because even the Emperor can't be everywhere in the galaxy at once. Remember, one of the reasons for the Imperial Webway was because warp travel was too dangerous and unpredictable for a galaxy-spanning empire to reliably use. With the Primarchs on the front lines fighting his battles for him he could devote all his time into the Webway project.

The 'monster builder' rules will be nice. Though I'm guessing it'll just be a version of what was already in Mortal Remains. Maybe they'll put a more clear explanation of ephemera, get rid of that god awful diagram from GMC.

I forget was hunter 2e confirmed a thing? Id be nice just so i dont have to cross reference core, GMC rules update, vigil core, and then mortal remains.
