so elegan/tg/engtlemen how do you play your true neutral characters? do you play them LOLRANDOM? or a guy who does everything to advance his own agenda?

I have no strong feelings on this subject.
have you ever played an RPG session and had no combat take place? If so, which system were you playing?
>>43721616
My DH2 group haven't had combat in the last 3 sessions. They're working on their secret HQ and fake IDs as ordered by the Inquisitor.
However, the next session will start with the Sister being literally dropped into a pit thing's den by a group of over-zealous mutants who believe that she is Sister Sabbat.
>>43721616
Yes, Shadowrun.
It was weird, the plan went off without a hitch.
>>43721616
I played in an entire campaign where no combat took place. It was great. WoD.
I know we've had a lot of Paladin threads recently, but I'd like your help with a character /gents/.
What would you say are the indispensible powers, attributes and abilities for Paladins, regardless of setting?
I was trying to get a PL10 PC for Mutants and Masterminds 3e based on the DnD versionDue to its' rather fleshed out nature, but everythingskills, powers (especially powers) and abilitiesis just so dang expensive.
Especially including their Divine Senses on top of their rather large powerset.
>TL; DR
>What are the bare essentials for a Paladin in every setting?
I think it's more about attitude and conduct than powers, but the basic powerset would probably include stuff like:
>good all-round leadership abilities and charisma
>good all-round melee abilites
>some kind of "smite evil" skill
>some kind of healing skill
>a protective aura
NEVER GIVE UP.
YOU TAKE ON THE WORLD FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT.
YOU TAKE ON THE WORLD, AND YOU WIN.
YOU WIN, AND YOU MAKE THE WORLD BETTER.
YOU WIN, AND YOU BRING OTHERS UP SO THAT THEY MIGHT ASPIRE TO CARRY ON.
ONLY WHEN THE WORLD IS BETTER DO YOU QUIT.
THE FIGHT IS LONG, BUT YOU ENDURE.
THE MOUNTAINS TURN TO DUST AND THE GODS ARE BROUGHT LOW BY MEMORY.
BUT YOU ARE NO MOUNTAIN, YOU ARE NO GOD.
YOU ARE A GODDAMN PALADIN.Never played Mutants and Masterminds, sorry.

I know it's more about attitude than anything else, but I'd also like to get a mechanical feel of "Ye Olde Holey Warriyer Bakked Bye Divyne Pow'rs".

What is the local equivalent of Hell like in your setting? It's denizens? It's rulers? The punishments and sentences given to sinful mortal souls? Etc.

>What is the local equivalent of Hell like in your setting? It's denizens? It's rulers? The punishments and sentences given to sinful mortal souls? Etc.
It's mostly like the equivalent of the underworld in Wraith: The Oblivion. "Sins" are more "Debts" and influence the stay.
The skillful and hard-working, those who had a positive net value on their breed, are taken to Mauth's Bone Hall to perfect their trade, because Mauth hopes to replace as many gods as he can with capable humans should the Vaulted Gods fall. The slackers and the reliant spend an eternity supporting the ever-growing hall on their backs.

Bonus points for uncommon races
If a significant number of our men are supposedly Veterans of the Long War and our armour is supposed to consist of relics from long ago, how come virtually all of our men seem to use modified Aquila and Indomitus patterns? They weren't particularly common during the Heresy, having just entered production, and I'm fairly certain the Loyalists wouldn't supply us with new ones, so unless a vast majority of our armour is somehow stolen it seems unlikely we would use virtually identical equipment. Shouldn't there be more III, IV and V suits? And the Indomitus suits make even less sense, seeing as how what Terminator suits we do have are supposed to be ancient even by Space Marine standards and a prize everyone lusts after since we can barely make more, so why don't we have more Cataphractii and Tartaros suits? This is especially strange considering the Indomitus pattern was popularized by the Ultramarines after the Heresy, so we would already be in the Eye of Terror by the time it became the standard pattern. Even Warmaster Abaddon himself seems to wear an Indomitus pattern suit, which doesn't make any sense considering he's supposed to be wearing his Heresy era armour, which most certainly was of a different pattern entirely.
>>43721169
>so unless a vast majority of our armour is somehow stolen
that's the answer. Chaos marines have no real manufacturing capabilities to speak of, so they have to steal and scavenge from the loyalists.
>Indomitus pattern was popularized by the Ultramarines after the Heresy
that one's a retcon
Inconsistency in 40k? well i'll be!
>>43721186
>that's the answer. Chaos marines have no real manufacturing capabilities to speak of, so they have to steal and scavenge from the loyalists.
That is factually wrong. Warmachines of the Lost and the Damned makes it perfectly clear there are entire Hell Forges, not even just in the Eye of Terror, but outside of it too.
Also, why are there no beakies among the Traitor Legions? We know the Alpha Legion used Corvus Armour for a fact.
How do you typically describe magic?
I'm really not a fan of 'cheat codes to the universe', even if that is an apt description.
What other methods do you use to describe it? Energy? Warping? What?
The 5th force carrier of the standard model.
As matter interacts with the Higgs field, conciousness interacts with the Magellen field.
Think Pullman's Dust meets original trilogy Force.
Personally I'm working on a setting where I need to answer this as well.
To keep a long story short; magic that humans can use comes from sleeping/medtiating giants. By living, sleeping, praying and meditating nearby these giants snippets of arcane information leaked into human minds. Using what little they gained; the people were able to forge magical spells and enchantments.
The question then is; what should this meditational energy shit actually BE? The math and knowledge of a universal scale? The delusional magical dreams of forgotten giant Gods? The languages of the giants communication in dream speech, which humans mimicked to try and cast spells but most be careful else the giants figure out they are only pretended to be a divine wordsmith?
I actually kind of like that last one, but I simply need to know what to do!

You know how there's stuff we can't explain?
Imagine that's everything, and magic is how it works.

Might actually be interested if I didn't know this wouldn't be anything we'll see within the decade.
I remember reading that supernal resistance turned out being a good choice, can someone give me the rundown of the build? (charms and the way the build fights).
So, any guesses on odds that Anathema for 3e will have a functional release before June? As far as I can tell it looks like the people working on the application have had their hands on a functional version of the ruleset since April and they've not posted a single update since September. I'm almost expecting it to end up vaporware with some other group beating them to having something functional put together and distributed.

No, just an average day in Japan.

There's nothing wrong with this though. It worked.

It really didn't though, the colonies were just about to issue a declaration of independence and war but then the covenant showed up. The SPARTAN program was created specifically to put UNSC boots on colonist necks.
This is a quest about a vault dweller's journey through the irradiated remains of the Pacific Northwest, hype inspired by the Robot Vault thing from earlier. This is my first go at running a quest so plz no bully.

And we are transgender.
We was the only male in transgender vault and was forced into becoming the one.
This coming Monday I'm going to be playing a Paladin for the first time and I want to do it right.
Any hints or tips?
Play with a GM who's not going to punish you for every tiny deviation from your code... especially if you have players like Rogues in your party. Give yourself some goal of "greater good" that makes it acceptable to work with people of lesser morals. Don't be a preachy "no-fun-allowed" lawful-stupid who ruins the game for everyone else.
Kinda edge-lordy, but if you really wana work around the whole alignment thing, have you Paladin have celestial blood or come up with some other reason that involves their "holy" powers coming from a source other than faith...
Whether they're aware of it or not...Best paladin I ever played was a deluded over-zealous demon-hunting monster of a person who would commit atrocities that could qualify as war-crimes during his hunt of demons (torturing innocents for information, executions on the mere suspicion someone might be a vampire, carrying out punishment on those who collaborated with demons even when they did it unknowingly, ect). The leader of his order was secretly a necromancer who was using the holy order to take oout the competition or contain his "experiments" before they got out of hand. The paladins of the order themselves got their power from the blood of a celestial that this Necromancer had captured long ago and kept imprisoned. The paladins would be told to drink the blood in a ceremony similar to Communion with no idea what it actually was or that it was the source of their power. As far as most of them were concerned, their powers came from their "righteousness and faith", as warped as that view was. Not to say the character I was playing was intentionally evil... but yeah... serious delusions.

Be a bro. Be professional and respectful.
Take a level dip into Oracle if the DM will let you and take the Lore Mystery to get "Sidestep Secret". It lets you use your CHA instead of DEX for your AC dodge bonus and also adds it to your Reflex Save. This means with Divine Grace you get to add your DEX to Reflex twice.
How do you take advantage of your trade/job/profession during your campaigns?
Do you think that TTRPGs have helped you in your job somehow?
Being a computer engineer made me hate every system's interpretation of hacking.

Working at a hotel makes me portray Inn Keepers as depressed souless husks who all have a seething hatred of humanity while trying to fake a smile and make sarcastic comments about the party when they think the players won't catch on.
So yeah... there's that.

As a hotel security guard this is the truth.
Also we all know you're on drugs and bringing in a prostitute. We just don't care.
The land of Aeons, a beautiful land full of mystery, magic and adventure. A place were great heroes are at a constant battle with the forces of evil, great monsters and demons alike. Wizards and Clerics are common place, along with creatures such as ogres and dragons. A land where adventurers travel in search of wealth, fame and power.
Kings and queens, under the protection of these well payed and respected men and woman rule with absolute authority, bringing glory to their allies and death to their enemies. It is truly a wonderful and dangerous place, and to be a adventurer in these times would truly be a life of freedom and prosperity.
Ah, what a dream it would be...

It's been a few months since your father had passed, leaving you in charge of the family farm. Of course, it's rather run down and the only animals you have is a single cow and a mule, Eustice. The only thing thats been growing has been onions and grass, and even that is barely enough to feed you. Though at the least you have a place to sleep at night without the threat of wolves or bandits.
The day itself was an average, the signs of the summer starting to show as the sun blazed overhead, so of course it was a surprise when you heard a knock on your door and there was a knight, dressed in full armor standing behind it. He had the emblem of the king and what seemed to be a a satchel full of scrolls.
Quickly, he pulls out one of the scrolls, opens it up and coughs.
"Hello sir, I apologize for the inconvenience, however I come here in the name of our king.
First, for future reference, what is your name?"
