Last thread had some weapons and armor discussion with KM, a little bit of a fecht, and Jimmy revealed he's working on airplane rules for Call of the Void.
Previous Thread: >>43795527
Song of Swords is a realistic fantasy tabletop RPG that draws inspiration from historical fechtbuchs, weapons and armor. Its combat system is fast and it can be used for both fantasy and historical/mundane settings. It is heavily based on the Riddle of Steel system.
Call of the Void is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. It is based on the Friday Night Firefight engine for modern firefights in close quarters, and can handle mundane or magical settings.
Here's a .rar archive with the newest version of the rules as well as all related current working documents. At this time the latest version is v1.9.9:

Here's Ballad of the Laser Whales' latest version: https://www.mediafire.com/?rtbjk51jnm2wv8a
Here's a wiki detailing SoS's fantasy setting, getting filled up bit by bit as Jimmy reveals more details:

There's also a roll20 room where new players are encouraged to try the rules, test new rules, and find game breaking issues: https://app.roll20.net/join/346755/hRKd4w
The room might be empty, but the people who teach the game still browse the thread frequently. If you're looking to learn, post here in the thread. We also play Guy Windsor's card game Audatia in the room.
Right lads, so should we leave Öke's fate uncertain or shall we bring his little adventure closure?

Rules and tactica discussion is encouraged.
Fluff and rumors are better suited to the General, so kindly check the catalog.
The 30K community is still small, but growing, so don't get discouraged if your AoD list doesn't get feedback.
>Rules of Thumb
1) If you post a list, please critique other lists, if you are familiar with other codices.
2) Type your lists cleanly. Lists with poor formatting are usually ignored. Picture versions or PDFs of lists *are* acceptable, but not encouraged, and will often be ignored as well.
3) Preferably, advice should be given from a place of experience, i.e.; don't give advice you haven't tried yourself.
4) Don't bump excessively either, as that will diminish the likelihood anons will respond.
5) Finally, it helps if you have a short description of how you intend to run your list. This also helps anons give better criticism, and will typically illicit swifter responses.

The Mortis and Deimos don't have Ravenwing, so you can't take them in the Strike Force. Need a CAD for that.

You’ve heard stories about the Killik. You’ve read about them in class back at the Academy. They were supposed to be long extinct considering they abandoned their mounds back on Alderaan. The fact that you’re standing beneath a group of them right now is a daunting prospect. It’s as if they just leapt from the holopages of history just to mess with you. You, Kuvasz, and Vikker stepped closer together, nearly back to back as the great big bugs advanced on you.
One of them pokes you with his stick, jabbing you with the blunt end of it. “Hey!” you yell back. It flinches back, surprised by your sudden response. It proceeds to poke you again, harder this time. “Ow! Stop that!” You slap down his stick. The other Killik proceed to surround you, ignoring Kuvasz and Vikker. You’ve made a huge mistake. They proceed to poke you, apparently in curiosity. But all its doing is making you angry! “Stop that!” You slap away their spears and sticks. They click their jaws and mandibles to each other, buzzing in some weird language that for some reason sounds they’re constantly saying “uuuu”.
“What are they doing?” asks Vikker.
“They must be wondering why Rhys’s skin is so soft; if they’re giant insects they might not have too much concept for people with bones on the inside like us,” Kuvasz explains.
“Yeah, yeah! Great!” You push away one of them. It hisses at you. “Ah!” you scream at it, and it immediately retreats in fright by your sudden noise. “Real great scientific explanation, Kuvasz, you should’ve been a scientist instead of a mercenary!”
“Well, I mean, I was for like a year,” he says.
“I’m being sarcastic!” you yell back. You wave your arm in front of your nose, groaning at the incredible smell you’ve discovered from these giant bugs. “Look, we’ve got to-“

You hear a massive stomp behind you. You turn around to see Sparks has dismounted into his walker mode. Out of his underbelly, his new twin laser cannons pop out and aim right at the Killik. Sparks screeches loudly, sending the Killik retreating back into the wilderness. Oh, thank goodness for that. You shake your head, sighing.
“This changes things,” says Kuvasz as he walks up to you. “Treasure is one thing. But it appears the Killik have made a home around the RAS Bailoff, our treasure.”
“I’m not going to give up on it,” you say. “That treasure is ours for the taking.” You quickly dust yourself off, then suddenly hunch over. “Bu- but first.” You quickly run over to the water, kicking up clouds of sand beneath your feet. Ugh, oh for… You quickly vomit into the water, spilling some bile and what was your lunch into the ocean. Oh, they stank, what a smell that was. Kuvasz and Vikker quickly run after you, then join you in vomiting up their lunches. “Wh- you too!?”
“I haven’t smelled anything like that since those Rakghouls on Taris!” yells Vikker. “Mother of mercy!” You shake your head. You’re not sure you ever wanted to see an Aqualish vomit but there it was.
Kuvasz catches his breath faster than you two. “Alright, Rhys. What’s the plan?”

You know, that reminds me. Tell me about your favorite birds, /jc/. From this or any other reality.
...let's try that again.
Have we ever talked about how powerful Eliatropes can be? In the finale of Wakfu's 2nd season Qilby punched Yugo hard enough into a planet that it SPLIT INTO TWO. Then all the other Eliatropes chased him around for a while-and blasted through another planet getting to him.
What's the consensus here? Are eliatrope-native planet just super flimsy, or are eliatrops just that damn powerful?
Ok so this is a new idea I've come up with.
I recently received an extremely cold shoulder on a thread I posted in /lit/ talking about short stories (Nobody replied). After the same thing happened again, I wasn't real sure what to do. I've got this huge collection of short stories I've written over the years, some of which I've made into tabletop games, and some of which I've just kept expanding into. I've browsed /tg/ in the past, and I do remember there being a homebrew general, but to my memory that was more about systems and games than settings and narratives.
So this is a thread where you post your universes, kingdoms, alternate histories or whatever other background you've cooked up for your games. Describe your stuff and any issues you're having, critique others stuff and help them if they need it. If you've done any art to accompany your stories, that'll lighten the thread up a bit! I'm not massively social so I don't really get a lot of chances to /tg/ with friends, so I usually just end up creating settings and over time they get more and more complex. I would love for others to read my stories, and I welcome any comments and criticisms, as I'm sure others in my position will too.
If this thread is currently already being done, or there's a better place I can post this stuff, please let me know and I'll seek other shores.
If not however, I'm going to go ahead and post a basic idea I thought of a few weeks ago.
>>43969033
Here's my setting:
No red phone was established following the Cuban missile crisis, so eventually in the late 70s the USSR and USA entered into a cold war. Pretty standard stuff, right. Well I've freshened things up a bit. The idea is the nuclear war didn't actually end up destroying the world, more like just destroying the US and Russia. Both are in pretty bad shape, ecologically and economically, but the rest of the world is ticking along fine. Without the two superpowers meddling in other nations affairs and trying to establish dictators or opposition parties, the world is progressing much more peacefully. The EU and Arab League are both massive economic powers, and on friendly terms. South America is a glorious drug free haven of nature. The far east, without American incentives, never industrialised, and instead is a bastion of oriental culture and sustainable development. Africa, while still suffering the terrible plight of SIDA, grows in leaps and bounds in close collaboration with its ex-imperial oppressors.
Essentially everything is nice and rosy apart from the USA and USSR, which are being managed by a newly created UN body that's trying to restore order, and try and lesson the ecological damage to the regions. I had an idea for the party to be UN operators or diplomatics, in either the USA or USSR, trying to restore order and lift the two crippled giants into the new world of plenty.
mostly what I need for this setting are maps, place-names, country names, and a few thematic details.
oh, and to finish converting it to fit the nWoD system from pure fluff into something usable, but that's not what this thread is for. BEAR WITNESS TO MY MIGHTY SHIT-HEAP AND TREMBLE AT IT'S STUPIDITY!!
>>43969137
>the not-so-cold war
yes, this is for the most part pretty cool
except...
>peace in the Arab league
unpossible...people have been fighting over that region for centuries, for more reasons than just oil.
>>43969137
Oh, and technology is pretty different too. Computers were never quite minimized to the extend that they are today, but they've been made incredibly cheap so not only does everyone own one, even the poorest slum child in Uganda, but they're all connected over a rudimentary internet. So communication is pretty similar. Another note on culture, the American "Hollywood" effect never occurred, so global cultures are still all pretty independent.
>>43969294
I think the same could be said for Europe. I mean not only 30 years after the French and Germans finished their biggest war, in a long bloody history of them, they had formed one of the tightest alliances in the modern age under the EU. I agree a middle war total peace is far fetched, but I don't think impossible.
I'll have a read of your PDF now, and report back what I think.
Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.
House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.
If you’ve played the one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

And now without further ado.
The Dornish sun shone through your window in just a way to warm your feet that hung listlessly over the side of your bed. Your arms hang loose, one hand fidgeting with a nail that had never quite grown back right after taking an axe in Lys. Sighing deeply your eyes come to rest upon your clothing strewn about a chair haphazardly across the room. The deep purple, black as dark as night, threads and details of gold, colors of House Malroy, of your family. For a span of years they were nothing more than a convenience, a little piece of bargaining power you threw about when you need to. Now? They represented everything you were. The very symbol of your Lordship, of your strength, of Steadhold and her reach into the Realm. It represented your Uncle, his stern and hard ways in stark contrast to your own, it represented Victus, despite his name. it represented… Her. Isis. The last few days were far and away some of the very worst of your life, finding out that Red Bastard had your sister, that they had lied to you, that she was pregnant with his spawn. Gut punch rolling into a haymaker into the face when you sat among the Hand and Princes, and used as an example, disgustingly thrown into their faces, made to pay lip service to a Queen that would sooner see you dead and Royce in your place. Your stomach had hardly settled, a want for wine and drink only partially quelling the storm that sat upon your lips in every waking since.
A finger upon your back reminds you of the other presence in your bed this early morning, tracing a long thin scar that started from your shoulder blade and ended on your side. The nail scraps harmlessly as it traces back and forth lazily, her soft finger tip sending a chill down your span as it finally comes to rest, “Lord-”
“Brynden, you can call me Brynden, Obella,” you interrupt, allowing yourself to fall back into the plush of the bed, head finding rest in a cradling arm close to her breast, the soft heartbeat pulsing in your ear.
Nth for Targaryen restoration
She smiles to you as you catch her eyes, the deep pools of blue that drank in your wildfire, in the dark of night they almost looked black, yet in early morning sun they appeared almost purple. Her hands run through your hair and into your beard, “I preferred you clean shaven,” she says with an innocent smile, her fingers scratching under your chin.
You only laugh in response, stretching out and enjoying the cool warmth of her nude form next to your own. Your own hand dances upon her cheek and she pushes into it, finding rest on the pillow behind, “I thought I need court you like a ‘proper Lady’, does a single night of dancing count as such?” you ask, the laugh still dancing upon your lips.
The Dornishwoman rolls her eyes to you, “You have had an exceedingly difficult week my Lord,” you go to interrupt but her finger places itself upon your lips, “Brynden. It was either this or I allow you to find trouble in the districts of the Winding Walls or the shadow city where an army yet still resides. Or worse yet in bed with that little trollop from the Vale, the one that stare daggers into me across the great hall all night.”
You fix her with a look and she relents, you had yet to find a way to distance yourself from Lady Giselle, the situation was far trickier than you had wished, your seething anger at being used as nothing more than a pawn to draw out the King still sat like a stone in your stomach, but not so much so that you were willing to cause a scene with the Hand of the King, nor his chosen bride to be. Though you found it odd that Obella had developed such intense feelings on the subject. no doubt her connections to the Prince affording her far more information than you would prefer at the moment. It however did not stop her visit the night prior, following after your drunken step and slipping into your room in the dead of night. Her eyes rest upon your again, looking to wish to speak, “What is it Obella?”
How does your BBEG even Get an army of goons?
There are some main ones I can think of:
>Is leader of a nation
>Hire mercenaries
>Makes them himself
>Animates them himself
>Allies an evil race
I personally prefer BBEGs to hire mercenaries.
Well the BBEG for the campaign I'm going to run soon is a Hag so she makes a lot of them. Changeling daughters, constructs, aberrations, undead, etc. Aside from that she recruits a bunch of malicious fairies who need only be paid in the promise of being allowed to do horrible things to people.

which systems has the most broken magic users?

Ars Magica, not even a competition
>>43966647
>which systems has the most broken magic users?
Broken how? Total power? I'd say Mage: The Awakening or Ars Magica, since it's kind of the point.
Broken in comparison to others due to rules? Pathfinder.
So, I've been putting way too much work into this.
First off comes the core game, and right after I'll upload Chuunibyou: the Arm-Grabbing, the expansion-cum-Player's Guide. I very nearly didn't write it because Japan lacks familiarity for a lot of players, but it was fun to write and there's some stuff I like in there.
As always, feedback is welcome (though we've already gone through "Japanophilia is overly specific" and "the view of fedoras is too caricatured" before), and really, any interest whatsoever is appreciated from the bottom of my heart. I don't think I can describe how flattered I'd be if someone playtested it.
And here's Chuunibyou: the Arm-Grabbing. It's firmly a beta as of now, though it should be perfectly playable - my main concerns are about balance, and that's usually fixable by listening to a bit of feedback. There's a bit of a whopper of a section about Japan in the beginning, but I felt it was necessary to provide context and make it playable for a lot of people.
>>43965223
