Read the 3e core book (link below). For mechanics of the old edition, play this tutorial: http://jyenicolson.net/exalted/. It'll get you familiar with most of the mechanics.
>Gosh that was fun. How do I find a group?
Roll20 and the Game Finder General here on /tg/. With the new edition, though, chances are more games will crop up.

Critical Questioning and "Bon Mot" Responses Edition

Do you find it concerning that Holden doesn't appear to know what a "bon mot" is?

>Do you find it concerning that Holden doesn't appear to know what a "bon mot" is?
Concerning for Holden yes, the gameline no. I'd regard Holden as an annoying special needs kid if he didn't make good books.
What's some good inspiration if I wanted to make a person from Volivat?
>>43948902
>if he didn't make good books.
Is he largely responsible for any of the good books?

Yo. So why did you origonally want this pantheon anyway? Out of curiosity.
I don't see there's any point in me writing anything else, since apparently if either Scribe or Mapmaker don't like it, it just gets glossed over and ignored.

Starter topic: This week's Uncharted Realms is "Promises to Keep," by Doug Beyer.
http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/uncharted-realms/promises-keep-2015-12-02
Why are the monks of Keral Keep so un-red? Mother Luti's final "I was just pushing you so that you did what FELT right" is nice and all, but that doesn't change the fact that most of the monks were disappointed in Chandra's address, and that she was feeling stifled even before she was in a position of authority.
Oh, shit, is that motherfucking Kozilek?
>>43945738
I mean they've been teasing his arrival since BfZ came out
>>43945738
I never understood how power scale works in MTG. I mean, Kozi's a 12/12, right? That means he would die to six regular bears or like twelve normal humans. How does this add up to a world-ending terror? I mean, I recognize that it does, but that statement holds true for all fatties. Lorthos, Wormcoil, Special K, etc
The only one that kind of gets it right is Blightsteel Colossus, and only because it's indestructible... Am I overthinking this?
Your party have to disguise themselves as amazons to infiltrate a matriarchal kingdom. How well do they pull it off?
Do it the same way we did the last time we had to do basically the same thing; after observing the amazons in their behavior and appearance, the buffer female characters dress and act appropriately, and "imprison" the rest of us to lead as captives.
>>43943536
i think disguise wise they would be fine but they may blow it by saying stupid things.
>>43943576
My party had more bolter and Las guns involved. Those filthy heretics shouldn't have said the the Big E was a woman and she had 20 daughters who were all still alive and in waiting to attack the 'False emporer'
I want to run a one shot for Kult ant it would be my first time at it. I've never played nor seen played Kult and I don't really understand what the plot of an adventure could be. I've GMd a lot of CoC, should I run Kult in a similar way?
I mostly appreciate if you colud tell your adventures in Kult, thanks.
I've never played CoC, but Kult is great. The trick is to have your players not realize what the fuck is going on, while maintaining their sense of control over their destinies. This creates fear.
There are plenty of pre-written stories out there, try one of them, but realize that your players could just bolt themselves up in an attic out of fear (mine did). Then you have to get creative.
All the best, hope you do great.
Mood music is a must.
>>43942637
KULT is pretty much the reverse-CoC. In CoC the Universe is a vast, cold and uncaring expanse. You're insiginficant and can only hope to avoid the sight of the greater beings.
In KULT? The Universe knows your name. And it hates you. The entire Reality is a trap, designed by God himself to keep YOU down. A trap for gods - and you can escape it.
Of course, your players hopefully don't know that (seriously, it's best if they never even read the book past the parts of character creation that you censored) and your characters sure as hell have no idea. They might get a glimpse of the True Reality but it should be horrific, confusing and completely alien.
Okay, got the soft parts out of my system so let's get to the meat. I've GMd several KULT (yes, I always write the name in caps) games and here's what I gathered:
1. PLAY WITH ADULTS AND KNOW YOUR PLAYERS. KULT deals a lot with sex, violence and sexual violence - make sure your players can handle it. You might even want to talk boundaries beforehand. Seriously, I once GMd a campaign with actual safewords.
2. For my group short forms worked better than campaigns. They actually felt more suspense in one-shots. As one of my group explained - if you know that the game you're playing is heavily character-focused you subconcsiously feel safer in the early-to-middle parts of the campaign. But that might just be because we play very rules-light. Also, I'm going to feed his character his own lungs in the middle of the next campaign..
3. Make shit up and never back down. If at any time the players catch an inconsistency, keep an unblinking stare and pretend it was a part of the plan all along. Especially if it includes time paradoxes, NPCs being in multiple places at the same time, or changing age, appearance and even sex between scenes.

Ayy new thread.
So since I have nothing but time, AI still aren't functional, and I'm piling up backup characters like mad for my next (and first) campaign...
What secondary roles does your heavy weapons guy take on?
>>43941021
Medic or explosives tend to be good secondary roles. Magical healing doesn't do shit if the subject isnt' stabilized, and you'd be amazing how often mages forget that is a thing. And explosives just seem intuitive with it.
I like the idea of technomancers too much to not play them. How do I make them good in 5e?
I'm too tired to think up questions, just talk games.
>Diamonds and SW:Risk in the mail for xmas gifts to family who are just starting to get interested in my hobby.
>Heading out of town Friday to go visit the heavier gaming group and get in two full days of nerdery
>Client calls last minute tonight, asks if I can do an order for delivery early Monday morning
>Shifted everything, now leaving Thursday afternoon so I still get 2 days
Every time I try to get down to Indy for gaming people go and fuck it up, but not this time, not when I finally have a copy of HoN available to play with my nephew.

No one's up and wanting to talk cardboard at all? Where the fuck is Steev when I need him to write a 20 page guide on how to build a proper German army to crush a 12 yr old with?
I have a board game that I opened but will likely never play. Is there some sort of game exchange/trade/way for me to get rid of it that isn't just selling it?
>>43940927
BGG has a regular trade system, as well as math trades (depending on your region) every couple months. Finding a trade through geekmail can be a long process but is sure to get you what you want, math trades are much more likely to get you a trade fast but you might end up with a game you don't enjoy as much. Rahdo did a pretty good series of videos on how they work, and if you're just looking to drop one game it might be worth it to wait. If you attend any conventions or live in a big enough location you might even find a no-shipping math trade, which helps get you more value for your game, as people are more willing to part with games when they don't also lose another $10-20 each.
What is it with girls and Tyranids? Every female 40k fan I've ever met has had a thing for them.Myself included.

What if Russia invented power armor like pic related?
>>43937197
>Lots of exposed moving parts
>Exposed head
>Glowing bits in the center of mass
>Is too big to fit through doors or walk down stairs
>Hands too big to use standard weapons
>Square cubed law limiting both armor and maneuverability
That thing would be worse then a dude with a T-shirt and a Kalashnikov. In fact a dude with a Kalashnikov would tear the shit out of that thing.
What if your waifu orbits my dick?
>>43937197
I'd switch countries.
I want power armor and a mini gun!
My life for Mother Russia.
How did your last session go /tg/ ?
People bailed, no dice were rolled, sad times were had by all.
>>43936521
Most people didn't show up. One of the players wanted to try DMing to give the DM a break.
It was a nice dungeon crawl and he was arguably better than the current DM.
>tried to free a guy from spider web
>fumble
>roll fumble chart
>instead of ripping through web I rip open reality
>portal opens
>fucking black dragon flies out into the room we're in
>kills some bugs while the party tries to GTFO
>fighter tries to reason
>fighter gets melted by acid breath
>drake nicks his platemail and fucks off back to his dimension
>BBEG is just hiding in the corner shitting his pants
Other than that unfortunate turn of events it went quite well
What's your favorite secondary element tg? I like smoke myself. Fuck that pussy ass fire/water/ice/lightning

Rolled 85 (1d100)
In a strange universe not of our own in a galaxy that is quite distant. There in lies great conflict between the two galactic super powers and those who try to survive among it. Here humans are just a small part of a very big galaxy and here there is a human who is in a bit of a tight spot...
For that human has awoken both his abilities and made a very interesting discovery. Currently said human somehow got stranded halfway across the galaxy in a day and is trying to figure out how to get home before the wedding. So far he has just beaten back an army with is bioweapon forces.
What do?

Have our spies start collecting more information on the town defenses, troop composition, leadership, weakpoints, food storage, etc.
Request Brood Unit:
Brood Bombers
Similar to the very first Brood Unit we detonated when we found the hive, these large, very muscular and hearty creatures have incredibly strong muscles and ability to jump, which is compounded by a psuedo biocannon which can help propel them at incredible speed.
They explode releasing similar effects as the original Brood Unit (acid mist, worms, small troop formations) and are meant to help take down structures, infantry, vehicles, the sort of things artillery is meant for.

I got nothing on Black Friday. Shipping to europe is horrifying expensive and slow.
In any case, fielded Guild McMourning last game with the starter set models, and damn I forget how much fun he was and how different he was from playing Ressers.

Not sure. The girlfriend is getting me stuff. I showed her what I wanted, so let's hope she got that.
Would be The Kin box and slop haulers.
Don't know if this is out of place, but since some people are nervous when roleplaying, or have trouble getting their characters personalities off correctly, I figured I'd start this thread
I'm taking requests and I wanna encourage other anons to do the same. Lets see if we can't define your characters a little more.
http://vocaroo.com/i/s0RaXyole8gk
im decent at impersonations and accents too
Haven't seen one of these in a while. I'm up for shit too, if anyone's got something to read. I know these threads usually get requests for gruff raspy stuff but my voice androgynous and nasely, so keep that in mind.

To get the ball rolling, how about:
>¡mientras tanto, los MAGOS del TIEMPO!
Preferably with multiple voices and/or people that are synced, so it can all be compiled into one audio file to be played at the table when needed.

and so we are off to a less than illustrious start!
