Tandi suddenly speaks, almost out of the blue. Your multithreaded mind, running through the prototype server at a speed you could scarcely believe, comes to attention for her.
"I think that's all we can do." She says, pulling her hands away from the keyboard.
"Really, mother?"
"Yeah." She responds. "No matter how much processing power we have, we all just think faster. Not smarter, you know? Unless we get some new ideas or crack the code on how those artificial muscles actually work, this is the limit."

At that, with surprisingly lucky timing, Abel steps into the room, knocking on the doorframe as he does.
Tandi jumps, and then whirls around, hands behind her back. "Abel? How's Isha doing?"
"She woke up a few times, but she's recently went back to sleep." Abel says. He looks like he's hardly slept, himself.
"What's going on?" Tandi asks, apparently seeing something in his eyes that you haven't.
"We're considering making overtures toward the Free." He says. "They lost their headquarters and home in one day. For whoever's left, it can't be easy for them. So what we're considering is finding out more about them, and if we can't find a reason not to... we'll integrate them into our Initiative. They may use more violent methods than we're used to, so they might have to adapt... But we might have to adapt, too."

Tandi looks from him to your pink spider shell, sitting on the corner, and then back to him.
"Why are you telling us? Is there something you need us to do? We're just like, the tech team."
"You are, but I was hoping for your opinion on the matter. This was Isha's suggestion, before she got hurt. Mike disagreed with her. I'm just not sure which choice to make. And I trust your judgement, Tandi. Yours too, Azure."

Having a better relationship with Free might still be wise even though our methods are so different, even if it is just to prevent accidents like what almost happened when we went to retrieve Isha. "I WISH I was kidding," you say, popping the delicious barbecued and marinated fish into your mouth.
"So...so...*heh*...so what you do?" Sakon asks, wiping tears from his eyes.
"What do you THINK I did man? I drew and started to cut my way out of there! They were ALL ninjas, it was ridiculous!"
"Oh man, and you had NO idea?" Hiroaki inquires as he takes some pickles.
"No! I mean, how was I supposed to know? There wasn't a sign above the village that say 'SECRET NINJA HIDEOUT, NO SAMURAI ALLOWED' or anything!"
"I guess Shinzo would know if they did that or not, right Shinzo?" Sakon says slyly.
"I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. Soy sauce?" he offers the Ikoma.
"Yes, thank you," he accepts politely.
"But, at a wedding? Seriously?" Hiroaki asks.
"I dunno! I think maybe they thought I was a distant relative or something, and before I knew it I was engaged in the festivities and almost married myself. I couldn't keep track of it all!"

Well, I'd call it a situation where the enemy is there just to teach the players that not every enemy can be beaten, and that sometimes you just have to run away.

Slowly your senses returned to you and the effects of the flashbang grenade ceased, in that instant another lighting struck you but this one was bearable and let you see its effects in all their glory. From the barrel of your lascannon you saw a massive beam of energy advance in a perfect pillar of ionized air until it struck your father in the torso. He was a Biologis Archmagus that had access to incredibly ancient and alien technology that no human should ever have, with that technology his body had been altered in a form that made him lose the few humanity that he had left and become a behemoth of a man who was made from pure raw muscle and dozens of protruding bone blades that covered in with a mantle of organic thorns.

No matter how mutated he was your weapon was designed with the destruction of tanks and bunkers in mind and no flesh could ever stop the staggering power of the holy hardened light that it was able to send. After the shot slowly faded away you were able to see how on his chest there was now a near perfectly circular gap that penetrated him from side to side. Axsiselios’s now bulbous and reptile like eyes rolled upwards until nothing but the white sclera became visible and he fell to his knees. Slowly you descended to the ground and searched for your mother who was seemingly absent.

That's certainly one way of looking at it. Shrugging again, you trot down the steps to the archives and follow the familiar route through the bookshelves. Things look neater now, at least, and there are no more signs of errant destruction. Perhaps the research is going better, now that Scathach doesn't have gaggles of drunken fairies distracting her. The witch herself is floating in the air, a curious light entering her eyes as she notices the gauntlet you are carrying.

“Beautiful, isn't it?” she remarks, before you can even greet her, “Almost enough to put fairy craftsmanship to shame – almost.” Taking the gauntlet from you, Scathach examines it closely. “Yes,” she decides, “This will do. Now, I'll have to ask you to step outside for a while as I get this fixed up. Trade secrets and all that. Before you go, though, did you have any questions?”
