You are SAMANTH SMITH, a pudgy girl who enjoys playing videogames, and lounging about, recently you decided to turn your life around and do something about it, and well, due to some unfortunate circumstances you wound up falling off a cliff. But, it’s alright, because lucky for you, you were reborn in a fantasy world as a Harpy. Perhaps this time when you fall from a great height your head won’t go splat like an over ripe melon. Your wings and feathers certainly will help.

You have just woken up from your slumber and stumbled out into the main area of your family’s nest, chipper as always, with your twin sister, who is still rather groggy in the early morning light. Your father and mother asleep back in their room with your younger sibling, and your older sister Ciel out and about, it is time for you to decide what you wish to do with this fine morning after the storm.

“Sister… why are we up so early? I want to sleep in for just once if we are gonna fly today.” Your twin questions rubbing her eyes with her grey feathered wing.
“Because…” You reply.

Dice System is 1d100, Best of 3 rolls, Roll over the DC.
There are sometimes multiple DCs to a single roll ranging from Critical Fail-Major Fail-Failure-Success-Major Success-Critical Success.

There will be roughly 10-15 minutes for voting and updates will take place on average of 20-40 minutes after I call the vote.

After all sessions I will stick around for Q&A. Feel free to ask me silly questions, tell jokes, and hang out with your QM.

Sorry for starting late, life gets away from me once the school year starts back up.

It’s been nearly six days since Mr Johnson left for Tarlick with no messages since the raven on the first day he’d left.

He’d said if he wasn’t back in Arling by tomorrow to go look into it, and… well with no further messages, I’m growing concerned. We’ve had no other customers approach us all week. On the other hand, Kara seems happier, a spring in her step without Mr Johnson around to grump at her.

Just in case, as the sun sets without any sign of Mr Johnson coming in, I pack a bag, it’s a decent walk to get to Tarlick, the better part of a day in fine weather, and now that winter's rolling in, travel’s slowed with the roads gaining patches of iced over mud.

Still though, I’m left with a few issues, how much money should I take? There’s a sizeable sum kept hidden in shelf, downstairs, enough to feed the for a few weeks, with more hidden in the spooks room itself, on the other hand, he’s told me explicitly not to dip my hand into the savings.

I’m also left with the issue of Kara, whether to leave her with Marmalade to watch the house, after suggesting she come along on jobs, she seems under the idea she’ll be tagging along.

>Take no money
>Take enough for a few days of food and board
>Take enough to a few weeks, who knows what you’ll need to buy?

And

>Kara should stay until she’s had some self defence lessons.
>Bring her along, it’s better if you know where she is.

Without self defense, she's potential in as much danger on her own as she is with us.

The system of Rukor is a flurry of activity across it's populated worlds and through the system. The defeat of the small Ahkam fleet has given at least temporary control of the star system over to the New Necrotic Armada.

A small fleet of its own stands guard in the system as the captured ships are grounded on one of the gas giants moons. The husks of the shattered ships swarmed by coffins and harvester ships brought in from the asteroid belt to consume and sort through the wreckage. Corpses are plenty as they float through the void, their biomass just as valuable as the scrap they drifted with.

On Rukor there are scattered celebrations at the departure and defeat of the Ahkam forces. Most though tried to return to salvaging their food stores for the oncoming hurricane season with grim determination matched by the dark clouds on the horizon.

The Stonestars moon is a frenzy of activity but not the warfare that raged only a day prior. Small villages of stonestars seemed to crop up overnight around the still burning wrecks of the Ahkam fleet. Groups of them climbing and picked nimbly through the debris under the guidance of a handful of Obsidianborn constructs. Volcanic glass commanding them with a language of chiming glass in a stark contrast to the stonestars harsh clacking code.

The fleet of the Ahkam has been stopped and it's commander, a juvenile Ahkam, slain and paraded through the system. The system is yours for now and you must decide how you will rule it.

>The Flakeshell was a large gastropodal creature nearly four meters long that the Stonestars used as a domesticated beast. They grazed on volcanic fungal-lichen and were domesticated for their slime which had anesthetic properties if boiled properly and their meat but most of all for their shells. The long low creature was covered in a nearly flat shell that fractures and splinters into jagged spines when the creature flexes its body. These spines were originally used to protect against predators but as the Stonestars grew sapient they began to harvest the chitin for tools and crafting.

>The Flatsnake was a flat ribbon of rippling flesh and sawing tongue-plates that used the thermals and updrafts from the many volcanic vents of the moon to sail high in the air. Usually solitary they would occasionally form into large swarms for their breeding season, a dangerous time for unwary Stonestars. A line of eyes ran along their underside nearly their entire length allowing them to watch for prey below. Once spotting their prey they dive down like a spear to tackle their target, wrapping their body around them while injecting a potent venom through a series of barbs emerging from their flesh.

>The files taken from the derelict Confederate frigate were heavily corroded with age and exposure, the Think Tanks and Dagger technicians having several setbacks in the process of decoding them. Finally they present their findings. A garbled log from the pilot as the crashed to the planet, apparently under attack from an unknown enemy while scouting unknown systems. There was an incomplete list of nearby systems with brief descriptions to be investigated more thoroughly, Horizon's Drop among the list. Most intriguing was the inclusion of the location for several covert military bases and even a testing site.

You decide to remain silent, raise your eyebrow and make a very noticeable gesture of nodding your head up and down in an “ah, I see” manner.

“If we’re going to take the time to introduce our new friends,” MacKay says with a placid smile on his face and a hand reaching for his COMP, “Then I suppose it would be remiss of us to neglect our duty.”

Five seconds and another burst of data, and a girl hovers a close distance to the priest. At least, what should’ve been a young girl at least Madison’s height, if it weren’t for the red skin, and butterfly wings. You pointedly decide to avoid remaking a remark about how dangerously short the Chinese-looking dress is.

MacKay gently pats the demon on the shoulder. “Hua Po, why don’t you introduce yourself to my friends? These are going to be your traveling companions for the foreseeable future.”

The demon bashfully looks down to the ground before raising her hand in a small wave with a tentative look towards all of you. What sounds like the chirping of birdsong exits her mouth instead of the usual guttural noises or hating English that you’re used to. It’s a pleasant enough sound, one that doesn’t require a translation from bird-to-English to know that she’s friendly enough, if a little shy.

“We found the poor girl on the verge of death,” Knocker says with a deep sigh. “As a tree spirit, she cannot live without water for extended durations of time. The dry spell that’s running through the county came very close to killing her.”

“Fortunately,” MacKay says with a soft smile, “We were able to save her by running to a nearby run-off of the Potomac. That was no easy task in of itself, either.”

“No kidding,” Brady mutters, running a hand through his sweaty hair. “The fish demons guarding the river were hell to get past. I’m laying off the seafood for the foreseeable future. The next scale is going to send me into conniptions.”

“Now that you mention it…” Fitz approaches Brady, and reels back upon getting too close. “So that’s the rotten smell that was starting to come in. Eugh. Gimme smoke any day of the week. Rotten fish? Hell no."

The Englishman rolls his eyes. “Tell it to the flock of Azumi demons that were so bloody territorial about the run-off. Damn things wouldn’t let us get a single cup without getting all riled up…”

“Be that as it may…you still haven’t seen my other demon. And this one’s a real bad mother…” Fitz’s smile is a little too eager as she begins running the Summoning Program. “Come on out, Lham Dearg!”

You decide to avoid pointing out that she just made a Pokémon reference as the demon materializes into the air-

Holy fuck, that thing is huge!

If Lham Dearg was a demon, then he was the most human-looking one that you’ve ever seen. Barring the swords driven through the guy’s body and a slight pale pallor of the flesh, he could easily have passed off as a cosplayer from a distance.

MacKay’s eyes widen noticeably. “Very impressive. He looks like quite the warrior.”

“Hell yeah he is,” Fitz grins as the demon grunts a neutral greeting. “This big guy’s why we’re still able to shoot the breeze right now. Got us out of a real clusterfuck, he did.”

“Let's...not talk about that any more, please?" Victoria seems eager to change the subject for whatever unknown reason, if the grimace is anything to go by. Fitz pauses and then nods, stepping back from the proverbial spotlight.

Relieved, the mechanic points a finger at the Centaur, who’s standing dutifully next to you and awaiting your next set of orders. “So did you run into any new demons in the woods, Adrian? I don't recognize him."

>Write-in.

"Two of every species - one male, one female, have been chosen!" a cheerful, bouncy voice boomed.

"And only two can remain, and earn their freedom!"

"The rest must die! It's a Battle Royale!"

"This is Noah's Park!"

---

That happy voice echo'd in your mind as you rose on this rusty platform, up this long, dark tunnel. The same track had been playing for a good ten minutes now.

Just a while ago, you were on the street, and the next you knew, you awoke here, going up on this elevator. Alone.

The track suddenly stopped.

"Hello... Human Male." the voice then said. It was the same guy as in the recording. "I'm Noah! We are going to arrive soon to my Park. It's a great place, trust me - I made sure to include every ecosystem. It has everything! Plants, wildlife, oh... Just wait until you see it!"

The shattered streets and broken buildings of Metropolis lay out before you. You can see rescue workers, volunteers, survivors and scavengers scrabbling about, digging through the wreckage of what was once places of business or homes. The burnt out and torn carcasses of cars lay strewn about haphazardly among the remains of what was once Metropolis.

You were lucky.

Living in the Suicide Slums, not that you could afford to live anywhere else, you managed to avoid the worst of the Incident. But this....this is something else.

Your city is a burnt out shell of what it once was. And you might be, at least partially, responsible.

Your stomach feels like it's fallen clear out from your torso and dragged your heart along with it. Watching a young man struggle to break his way into a partially collapsed pawn shop, you consider just how the news outlets that are still operational are reporting this. How does this tragedy compare to the death of

Repostin combat sequence for feedback

Each player has 3 actions which can be used to perform or react against an opponents action. Only one attack may be made per combat turn.

Ranged Attacks
>Attacker making a ranged attack expends 1 action and takes: 1d10 + SENSOR + RANGED SKILL +/- situation and skill modifiers = Ranged Attack Value
>Defender dodging this attack expends 1 action and takes: 1d10 + REACTION + ENGINES +/- situation and skill modifiers = Dodge value
>If attack value exceeds defence value attack hits and inflicts damage.

Melee Attacks
>Attacker making a melee attack expends 1 action and takes 1d10 + MELEE SKILL + REACTION +/- situation and skill modifiers = Melee Attack Value
>Defender may choose to dodge or parry melee attacks. For an additional action, the melee weapon equipped defenders may also declare that they will counter attack a successful parry.
>Dodging melee attacks is identical to dodging ranged attacks
>Parrying a melee attack is 1d10 + MELEE SKILL + REACTION +/- situation and skill modifiers = Parry Value
>If Melee Attack Value exceeds Parry/Dodge value the melee attack hits and inflicts.
>If Parry Value exceeds Melee Attack Value the attack misses.
>Defenders that declared a counter attack inflict damage on a successful parry

Is this too clunky a system and if so how could it be smoothed out?

QM was in a food coma edition!

You don't like the idea of hunting without sight, but you really don't have much other choice. Fall is coming far swifter than you would have liked and you could never live with yourself if you jeopardized your daughter's safety. So after allowing Elia a few days rest, you press a spear into his hands and tell him you are going after the aurochs herd. Natrually, he is appalled at the thought.
"Trym, have you lost your mind?!" he snaps, sitting up and glaring at you incredulously. "You're blind and my spear-arm has got no better over the years. Hunting aurochs like this is suicide! I seem to recall you nearly ended up dead the first time we tried it and you could see then! Why not just trade for meat instead?"
"If it comes to it, I will," you say, firmly, "But for now, we'll try our hand at hunting. If you won't, then I will alone."
Elia sighs and takes up the spear, muttering. "I'll come. At the very least, someone has to keep you from killing yourself."

The large hunting parties of before have not really reformed, with farming making up so much of your food now. Instead, the old approach of separating the old, slow or sick from the herd and spearing them, has returned. It's a slow and dangerous method, but you think you have a reasonable chance of success. Still, even with Elia's help, it won't be easy. Magic will help you even the playing field significantly and you think that you know exactly the god to invoke. It's strange to call on one you only know of thanks to the herders, but asking Maar's permission to take some of the herd can only help your chances...

You conduct a ritual to the herder's bull-god, Maar and take up your javelins. You have just enough control over your magic to guide your aim and enhance the potential of your throws, but it will still be close.

Because the worldbuilding thread is apparently only for bad ideas...

>This warrior culture has a certain way to test bravery
>While duels to submission are allowed, they aren't respected
>To settle disputes of honor, you must use the Burning Blade
>You stand on opposite sides of a fire, and stick a sword into the middle of it firmly
>You then wait, ass naked, as the fire burns down
>Whoever grabs the sword and pulls it out is the braver man, and his honor is upheld
>However, if you reach for it, and don't pull it out...
>Or the burning is too great and you drop it before quenching it...
>Then you are the rash idiot and the more patient man has his honor upheld
>It is not particularly uncommon for the men to resolve their differences before it is cool enough to grab
>This ritual has served the warriors well for generations, teaching much

You got any other neat cultural ideas like this /tg/?

Thats...actually a pretty neat idea, anon. If it's yours, nice job I'm gonna steal it.

In my Post-Robot Uprising/Magical Awakening/Great Plague era Texas/Mexico, the East Texas Empire have a tradition called Night Walking that all individuals who seek to join the clergy of the Imperial Church must undergo.

>Acolyte goes to the edge of the Old Forest (Sam Houston National Park), with nothing but a white robe, a hunting knife, and their faith.
>Given six candles, must stay in forest for six days
>First day is spent traveling on foot as far into the forest as you can.
>At night, you must keep these candles alight all night until the break of dawn, at which point you are permitted to put them out
>The only time you may eat, drink, or rest is during the daytime.
>The problem is that many, many predators and raiders prowl during the day, like wildcats, hogs, and bears, meaning rest for long periods is extremely unlikely.
>At night, even more predators come out to play, and many of them are magical in nature, the primary one being an entity that appears to almost everybody who enters the forest
>No matter how much it tries to talk you at night, no matter how tempting it is, you may not speak to it, or even acknowledge its presence. If you look upon it directly or engage in conversation with you, your soul is forfeit, and at best you are exiled from the Empire for consorting with unholy powers (worst is you disappear to God knows where).
>If you keep your candles alight, and you resist the dangerous and temptations of the forest, you are welcomed into the priesthood wholeheartedly

The candle is the symbol of the acolytes faith in the Lord, and how it must be maintained during even the darkest hour against unknown and terrible evils. Nobody knows what the entity is, but rumor has it that corpses in white robes walk the forests at night and speak insane gibberish...

Playing 5e and I just found a sword that has contains a Solar.

Depending on how much the Solar likes the user / agrees with the mission it confers different powers.

Typically it just shakes when someone lies in its vicinity. Other things it has be shown to do, release healing energy in times of need, change the damage type to fire, and add radiant damage againt demons.

Unfortunately it does this at its own choice (except the lying part) so can be quite unreliable.

The enchanted sword is not a sword, or rather the sword bit is irrelevant.

It's actually a mystical conceptual metaphor given physical form.

The metaphor is for muh dick

Hypothetically speaking, how would you go about collecting taxes from a group of heavily-armed adventurers?

Keeping in mind that my court advisors have informed me that keeping them alive and in good health is an overall benefit for my kingdom.

You can't

Adventurers are the equivalent of the super rich or mega corporations with holdings in Ireland or other foreign tax haven.
>>
Add a sales tax to goods sold or bought in your realm. 15% on all trades.
Apply heavy penalties to tax evasion or trying to hide your earnings. Use wizards with scrying abilities to enforce the penalties.
Have your campaign become a fun game of "Dodge the Taxman."

Gate Tolls work well. Cant get into town without paying the toll. Tax magic item purchases and general goods as well. Players have to eat and sleep and buy rope.

Only methods I have found that actually work and dont piss people off.

There will be two leagues next season. /tg/ League II, and /tg/ League II Rookies

The criteria for entry to /tg/ League II Rookies are:

>ANY coach, NEW or RETURNING, may start a NEW team

The criteria for entry to /tg/ League II are:

>ANY coach with can enter, with either a RETURNING team from /tg/ League I or a NEW team if they wish for a real challenge

After a 6-game Swiss tournament in both leagues, the top 6 teams from the main league, and top 2 from the rookies will play-off for the overall Championship.

https://fumbbl.com/p/group&group=9828&op=view

Apply to the Group on FUMBBL with your [L] Team, and PM me (MauledByTheTigers) stating your team name and which league you wish to join. I've wiped a couple of applications from teams with games played or multiple applications. I will reply with whether you got everything right or not.

This means you can only apply with ONE team to join either /tg/ League II or the Rookies. Choose wisely whether you want to be a Rookie or not.

If you're "abandoning" a /tg/ League I team to start a new team, don't worry, they may play again one day, just don't have any non-/tg/ League games in the meantime with them.

Applications will be open for ~6 more days.

my wip guide to "first teams" for bloodbowl is about halfway done at 5774 words, 31414 characters

It's sorted, in tiers, by my opinion which are the best teams to start with to learn the game. In brief I talk about the pros and cons and there is an old school gamefaq ctrl+f table of contents

I'll be posting it on pastebin and steamguides and editing it with thread C&C (comments and criticism)

Have one of the monsters say "Gimme some wine or gold and you can just go". Monsters aren't subtle, except slimes
