"Everything is fine." you could hear the news on a TV say as you passed the uni's food court. You huffed out. It was a well-known secret that the war was taking a much heavier toll than what the gov was letting everyone know, things weren't "fine".

You knew that more and more supersoldiers were being produced every day at the massive hive-wombs, despite the prohibitions from the UN - you've found videos and leaks of it through different imageboards. Of course, there was no way that anyone official would admit that they're doing it. Mildly, you continued to venture further into the university, towards the cryogenics lab. Today was a special day - it was time to try out the experimental "Deep Freezer" you've been helping develop for so long. And you were the guinea pig.

Cash was a bit scarce for you right now. You could ask for your mom for some dosh, but she had recently made an investment in having some cosmetic genetic alterations done to herself. Genetic enhancements were starting to become commonplace, in a similar way that smartphones did - if you didn't have a touch up, you were out of the loop. Unless, well, you were one of the few blessed with the genetics for a rock'n body that would never sag from the get go. You figured that it would be just better to simply earn some cash on your own - and this cryogenics deal paid quite a lot.

You finally reached the lab, greeted everyone and started to fill in the paperwork for the experiment. In front of you, there was the contract, along some other documents that needed to be filled in and signed. One of them caught your attention - it was the one for earning credits for your Biotech degree with this. Sweet.

What other extracurricular activity do you do to earn extra credits with?

You are Kline Bueller, and you were recently promoted to a C-rank adventurer and fought off a pack of thieving goblins.

And now you were being dragged into shopping by Evelyn, who practically forced you to come with her. Gods, you hated it when she got bit by the fashion bug.

"Kline, here, carry this for me." She shoved a bag into your hands as you let out a groan.

"Eve, look, I've got places to be-"

"It'll be just a minute! I promise! Let's go into that magic store! Come on!" The silver-haired mage drags you into a building with a sign that says, "Magic Emporium".

You really didn't want to waste your time gazing at old magic tomes, but you couldn't just let Evelyn carry all her stuff back, either.

What do you do?

I recently joined an online pathfinder game with a new group made mostly of beginners, with a "veteran" GM. They were all longtime online friends of mine (except the GM who was a friend of a friend), so I was fairly comfortable this would be a good game.
The GM said she was going to go hard on us, so we'd better bring our A game. We start at level 8, and the stats would use 6d6 drop lowest 2.

"Wait, hang on, that's a spread of 4-24, not 3-18"

>"I know. You'll need it"

I should've taken that as a warning sign that she didn't know what she was doing, but whatever. The group has already chosen their classes of paladin, cavalier, gunslinger, and bard, so I go wizard cause I've been in groups with a primary casting bard before, and I'm not going into a "hardmode" game with that shit again. Despite the stupidly high stat spreads, I still manage to roll a 9, but I'm a wizard so it's not like it fucking matters that I've got -1 to charisma.

Cavalier is having a hard time, so she asks me to help optimize her sheet. No problem, I've done cavalier before, two hours later and we have a charge attack monster who thanks to her 26 strength (jesus christ these stats, I'm terrified of what this character is supposed to look like) does retardedly high damage all day erry day inside a suit of mithril full plate.
She tells Gunslinger, who shows me his sheet and begs me to help him, cause now he's starting to think guns suck cause no one ever reads the firearm rules and finds out they hit touch AC in their first range increment. A little bit of tinkering, and he's doing respectable regular damage and gets to do Big Boss stealth tricks with his camo darkleaf leathers.

Gunslinger and Cavalier show GM their nifty damage totals, and her terror is palpable through Skype. They finger me and I immediately get pinged with a demand to see the math on why the cavalier can do something like 3d8+75 damage on a charge.

You awake at full charge in a dark room. Your memory is filled with Reem of junk data, some of which is very unpleasant to attempt to parse. As you activate your lamps for a better look around, you realize you can't move your body. Panicked, you struggle, but no matter how much force you exert, you cannot break free of what is holding you. Suddenly, lights come on, surgical ones to be exact, firing down directly at your lenses, nearly blinding you, if that were possible. You hear a gentle, synthetic voice.

"I apologize for waking you, detective, but Miss Dubois has instructed me to escort you out. I believe she implied that she would prefer you leave before she wake up, to avoid any awkward small talk after your rendezvous last night."

You remember now. Ella Dubois, a mechanic living in Silver Sands, installed a new weapon into your left arm. You wiggle your fingers, and do indeed sense something different. You'll have to test it out later.

Last night?

You ask the Con assisting Ella's shop the time, and she tells you it's 7:00, meaning youre late for work. You struggle against the hydraulic arms as she releases them, wiggling free as quickly as possible. You grab your shirt, coat, and other ends as you dash out the front door. You'll never make it on the bus, but the train might work. Then again... You pull out your phone.

There was a thread on mecha RPGs this week and it had me wondering: What are must haves in a mecha-based TTRPG from a crunch/attribute side? Are games where you never get out of the mech more fun?

Since i'm sure nourishing shoal will get hit with a ban next time, I made my own take on a modern goryo's vengeance deck. Works kind of like sneak and show. You loose a little bit of speed on your kill, but it's more interactive and less susceptible to hate. Opinions?
