>Red Sonja
Archetypical. Fucked Conan but didn't get emotionally involved.
>Paksenarrion
A slightly later, slightly more genre savvy Red Sonja.
>Rico's love interest from Starship Troopers
I can't remember her name. I think it started with C. But she meaningfully interacts with the political philosophy of the book and discusses it with the MC. Dizzy in the film is good too.
>Vasquez
Baddest ass marine in the whole crew. No questions. Possibly manliest marine in the whole crew.
>Ripley
'Nuff said.
>Malta
From Robin Hobb's Liveship Traders series. Great character, strong characterisation. There is a meaningful character arc, she grows and changes, and she acts in a completely rational, though self interested, manner.
>Judge Anderson
While her depictions change with writers and artists, often she is damaged but competent, with the depth of trying to overcome her past trauma. Some of the comics really deal quite strongly with her character growth.

I've got more that I can talk about if you like.

For House & Dominion: Civil War Quest

You are Sonia Reynard, Baron of Rioja. One small world among many in the House of Jerik-Dremine. From it you control the fates of a dozen others in the so called Smuggler's Run. With your new position you have the opportunity to become one of the most influential people in your House.

It is from this world that you draw your fleets and armies from. Both have seen their first large scale deployment with a large battle in orbit of Magdalena and a follow up planetary assault.

As the Dominion slips deeper into civil war you and those under your command have been fighting to protect your little corner of known space. With the arrival of additional allies you went on the offensive to drive House Nasidum out of the DRH1 Relay. With the help of your fleet the Ruling House were able to do just that.
While still wary of Bonrah and the pocket they hold in the region you and your allies are taking a well deserved breather.

Knight Captain Katherine Drake is your fleet's Wing Commander. She has been busy for the past week coordinating rescue efforts and escorting salvage fleets.

Uyi Rna is the General of your Army and is overseeing occupation efforts on Magdalena.

Wiremu Tama is the admiral of your Fleet. He's been busy since the last major battle, studying the effectiveness and integration of your stafighters forces

Fadila Saqqaf is your leading diplomatic adviser. She is working with your allies to help delegate responsibilities in the occupied territories.

After considerably more delays and technical problems than I thought possible.

At your return to Rioja the media are waiting in force despite the usual attempts to keep them away. Fortunately there was time to prepare with your PR team and some of the diplomats, setting up a press conference where you make a statement to the press.

While you describe the entire attack on the Nasidum expeditionary fleet as a defensive action to protect the Houses of the region, you also agree that it's a major victory.

You dedicate the victory to the many smaller Houses of the region, working together to oppose Nasidum and their attempts to bully others into submission. It's also dedicated to the strength of the Run Alliance as it becomes a power in its own right.

For now you refuse to answer questions on the future of the occupied territories or the level of casualties suffered.

There's no time, not enough time for anything. You beckon Sera over to you and she embraces you tightly, surprised tears rolling down her cheeks. Your own throat feels tight, but you push past it to try and say something encouraging.
"Sera-" You draw a breath as you realise how much emotion has crept into your voice and start again. "Sera, I know parting is hard. I'm going to miss you, but I know you're going to make me proud. I'm sorry I can't teach you myself, but I believe with Soqed's instruction, you will become skilled and great. I'll explain everything to your mother and sister and to Noh as well. I'll always love you, daughter. Now go with the wolf and be everything you can."
You cannot stop a few tears from spilling from your sightless eyes at the end. Sera gently wipes them away and kisses your cheek. "I'll learn everything I can, da. I'll be back before you know it. Please, just... Look after yourself while I'm gone, won't you?"
"I will, daughter," you nod, patting her head and standing. You turn your head to Soqed, who has been standing, waiting for you to finish. "You'll ensure no harm comes to her."
"I will not promise that," Soqed replies. "She will be one of the pack and all that entails. If she fails... But as long as you keep up YOUR end of the agreement, I will not harm her and neither will the pack." He glances down at Sera and sniffs. "This way, pup. grab onto my arm and don't let go, or I'll lose you in the crossing."

You wish you could have seen your daughter's face, as you feel her look back at you one last time, before the magic takes hold, and she and Soqed vanish into the wild, leaving you alone in the grove, your heart strangely heavy.

You return to the village slowly, melancholy weighing on your steps. Explaining things to Beren will not be easy, but your wife is wise. She'll understand that Sera made her choice and it was a choice not only for what she wanted, but for the best possible future.

SLAP!

Your left cheek joins your right in a stinging, embarrassing burn. You're sure Galit has left a red handprint on both sides of your face as she and Beren sob. Sera is more composed, but still cries at her sister's absence and you suspect Noh is just joining in because everyone else is sad.
"She couldn't even say goodbye?!" snarls your brother's wife. You can feel her raising her hand for another slap, before Elia suddenly steps in, grabbing her wrist and hugging her tightly. Galit breaks down into floods of tears and goes to be with Beren, who is trying to dry her eyes and bury her sadness. Elia takes your arm and pulls you up from where his woman knocked you over, hurrying you out of the tent and in the direction of the nearest fire.
"I... Had expected Beren to be distraught," you gasp, "But Galit too?"
"...Beren never mentioned how she convinced Galit to join the family, did she?" asks Elia quietly as you both sit down. He sighs and relates the story to you.

Somehow, although he had no idea how, Beren found out Galit's great secret; the reason everyone in the clan thinks that Elia is so under her thumb as to not even mate with her... Galit is barren.
"We can't have children," Elia tells you in a quiet voice. "That's why she was forever leading me and everyone else on back in the day. We've tried, believe me, we've tried..." You don't need to be told. You share the same house after all and privacy can be at a premium... "But nothing. Then Beren was pregnant and asked Galit how she's like to be an aunt. She said she could raise Sera as like her own daughter. You may not have noticed, but for years, Galit's been happy, helping Beren in every way possible."
>>
>>44863140
"Now that's gone... At least she still has Ebba and Noh, but brother, please promise me... Promise me you'll tell no-one. I shouldn't have even told YOU. And promise me that the other two won't go anywhere. I don't want to see Galit like this again, ever..."

Quest Start

The faded warmth of sunlight dies on your face as you slowly stir awake. Eyes not adjusted to the afternoon light of your room, you grope around and discover you are above your usual covers and blanket, the throw blanket from the foot of your bed covering you instead in all its provided fuzzy comforts. Lifting yourself up, there is a pull on your head.

Your looped pigtails are in tangled ends, there are probably knots as you feel at your hair in disarray.

It's your room...why does that feel...wrong.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year highschool student fifteen years old, and you are formerly the third woman to be called Sailor Moon. Now you protect the fourth woman to be called Sailor Moon, your younger sister Koyomi, as the mysterious hero known as Eclipse.

Sitting upright, your head swims with glimpses of thoughts not your own. The familiar march of images from when you fed on Tomoe-sensei in the hospital.

Cursing through the familiar sensations, you remember how you likely came to be in your bed. Betrayed and drugged by your teacher and one of your friends...you think that until you get a flash of the scenario from Tomoe-sensei’s perspective as you pass out in front of her to her surprise. That shouldn’t have happened.

Ignoring the argument between your friends around her she in desperate worry inspects you, your fangs extended and eyes...black? Other symptoms, her magic healing touch fails, and she resigns herself in with all the composure she has despite being on the edge of panic as she realizes what is happening. Bringing her wrist to your lips and hoping she could get you to feed.

Feed...when the new enemy appeared, you were exposed to one of their weapons and power sources. It changed you, not in the way the enemy intended, and gave you the ability to consume the supernatural agent they use to transform the innocent into monsters and negative emotions with fangs.

The brief tinge of fear when you drank of her well of negative emotions with sudden fervor and savagery.

The fear in the eyes of your friends, of you or for you?

You are alone in your room. Your clock says it's just after lunch as you sit up and pull your knees to your chest. Stomach rumbling for more physical fare, you do not feel any lingering hungers for negative emotions or darkness.

It surprises you that you might actually need the things you take to function. Especially since you had been avoiding feeding on both the darkness of the enemy and the negative emotions of others.

Does reading 40k/30k make you sad? I don't know why but the 40k universe makes me incredibly sad when I consider its themes. Particularly the Horus Heresy. I think it might have something to with the fact that it really hits home on the 'What could have been' aspect. The severing of ties between those who were really close gets to me. Ferrus and Fulgrim. Horus and the Emperor. Angron and his fellow slaves. Lorgar and his faith in the Emperor. Hell, these are just major examples.

Does 40k stir up any emotion in you or am I alone in this?

That is the point of Grimdark.

There are no true heroes if there is no unbeatable darkness.
A hero is not the one who wins against evil, a hero is the one that fight even when there is no hope.

That's what makes 40k so epic.

That's the point, it's a cosmic tragedy. A lot of the plot elements are pulled from other tragedies and each factions background hinges on a tragic irony; the Imperium worships an emperor who hated religion, the eldar are the wisest yet the cause of their own destruction, the orks live for war and would lose meaning if they ever won, the tyranids are the galaxies greatest threat yet they are running from something more terrible etc.

My players asked me to allow this asshat to join the game, I didn't want to allow him but said I'd try him out.

Didn't go well, he was a rules lawyer and a That Guy as expected, but he's such a moany little bitch I couldn't just kick him out, so I was stuck with him for a couple more games.

He's playing a psyker and being pretty open with his abilities but the team are going pretty stealthily through the game with covers as just normal guys, bunch of traders or some shit, he wanders off on his own, and he's spouting off to strangers about his abilities, even though I'd warned him Blackships were planetside harvesting psykers for sacrifice to The Emperor.

Long story short he continues to use his powers in public, and gets abducted by the Blackship, he starts screaming about being in the Inquistion but nobody believes him and the team are so split up they aren't even around to prove that he's there on official business.

He didn't come back next game.

>Who /worships Luke Crane/ here?
Reporting in. If you've got a head for rules and want the system to mean something for how the game's going to play out, Burning Wheel is the single best game ever written.

I'm not sure whether to pledge for the newest BW book because I have the old Burners handy on my shelf, but I'm seriously tempted.

>Anyone playing/running/planning on playing/planning on running any of these games soon?
I wish, sadly don't have anything in the works at the morning

>Anyone back the Burning Wheel Codex Kickstarter?
This guy, managed to snag a signed copy.

>How do you feel about BWHQ publishing Dungeon World?
Pretty indifferent, not a big fan of DW myself but I don't really care if they work together.

>Who /worships Luke Crane/ here?
Worship might be a little much, but I do like a lot of his games.

>Anyone ever actually got a BWHQ game to the table?
Couple of times, sadly none of them lasted very long, just for typically scheduling bullshit.
>>
>>44850643
I pledged for it because I only had the pdfs. Plus, it's gonna look cool as fuck sitting next to Gold on my shelf.

>>44850830
I feel you on the scheduling, I bought the new Mouse Guard thinking I could finally get something BW related to the table (my group is 50% board game players so they'd never actually play/read BW). Sadly, I only got to play one session which I royally fucked up because I misunderstood how the GM's turn really works. Haven't had the people together for it since. As someone that loves to just read the rules though, BWHQ stuff is great. I still really wish I got to play it though.

So how do I Cyriss? I like the Vectors, I've read up on strategy and such, but they still seem a bit odd to me. Any suggestions?

As an aside, I'm thinking full-on Borg for their color scheme - but then again that might seem a bit Cryxian, what with them hoarding all the black and green.

If you're just getting into the hobby Twilight Struggle is prolly not your best bet. It's at the top of BGG rankings because the people who will play it adore the game, so they rank it highly. Those who won't enjoy it, avoid the game, so it doesn't suffer from a lot of bad ratings. Whitleypedia had a good segment last year where he suggested the best reading on what people enjoyed was to go by the most voted on list; as those tend to square up most with people's choice voting.

1. StarCraft: BroodWar

Had a lot of fun - jewed out 4 points per round for 3 consecutive rounds and then got my shit pushed in by 3 people in two next rounds. We finished early because one guy had to split but I'd have probably lost. I had a shit to of SCVs no base, a couple of vultures and marines and surrounded by enemies. Next time I'll aim for being second and try to close in in two rounds.

2. Imperial Settlers
I think I have a special version of autism that lets me be good at this game. Won all games of this so far. Ended up the last with around 150 points.

>Any new games on your radar?
I prefer getting something tested at list a bit. The newest game I want to get right now is Sheriff of Nottingham and maybe Blood Rage. I'm still looking for a fun 4X that's not in space and complex/tactical games.

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son, shortly after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin graduate named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You have just recently graduated to a Chunin after winning the final tournament, and it is several days after. Your first mission has begun.

Linking this from last thread, it's a complication of my notes for the system(s) I've been working on. Feel free to pick apart/critique/ask questions about any part. I'm goin to try and salvage as much as possible.

By the way, I think we should actually slap the links on a pastebin with names for the links for new threads, this is starting to get clunky and ridiculous- there's about 200 characters left for the thread topic and any new links we might need to add

And speaking of new OP links, if anyone has any resources for the people making wargames and card games, please do share them

By the way, here's my other notes for this system if anyone's interested, it's been worked on by me and some other fa/tg/uys on Skype: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zQZzAgP8P08Pa7A2EVQfWIxVTEG1uIfeyv2yWwWQ8uA/edit?usp=sharing

What do you hope to see in the new Raveloft Adventures? Any races, class features, optional rules, or story arcs?

>Any races, class features, optional rules, or story arcs?

My demands are simple...
1. A dhampyr race
2. A monster hunter tree for the ranger and fiend summoning for the warlock
3. Sanity I guess (but I could take it or leave it)
4. And a sidequest involving a ambitious scientist hiding in fear from a vengeful and cunning awakened flesh golem. No more of this clumsy moaning frankenstien's monster bullshit

I don't have my hopes up though.

Do girls and women add a positive experience to tabletop gaming or are they less involved and more of a nuisance and hindrance to the game. Either directly or because the other spergburgers can't cope with their shit when she is around.

the only person close to being a girl or woman in my group is myself, so i can't really say.

Do you mean you are a women or some sort of demi-trap?

Our token group girl is one of the more involved players. Though she is very scatter-brained and often gets distracted. But then so does the rest of our group.

All in all I think she's fun to play with.
