>Last time, on Digimang Quest.

Dash and friends got their day ruined by a fire, blowing out everyone’s asses, before Dash almost froze to death again. Barely kept on the brink of life, Dsh finally got treatment from a doctor.

With their foe injured and unable to flee very far, the gang took a day to relax, including Dash being dragged in front of the very friendly king of the city.

The king told the group they have to be out of the city within three days, before rewarding Dash for his efforts with a shield of legend, before his unexplained disappearance caused mild panic.

Reunited, the gang managed to sell their old jeep for a dozen times its actual worth, before Dash and Eva had a deep, hard talk about the philosophical ramifications of Descartes teachings.

Wrapping the day up, Jeff and Dash spent some time fishing, caught a shark, before Dash stumbled on his drunken sensei and almost got killed in the process of saving her from a riled up crowd, before he dragged his ass back to sleep.

Now, on with the adventure!

You awaken in the dark, something small and round pressing into your chest, judging by the leathery scrape on your skin, Devi’s fallen asleep during the day again.

The smell of cooked fish guides you outside, Elecmon, Eva and Gotsumon still cooking up some of the shark you and Jeff hooked.

“Morning numbskull.” Eva calls as you step onto the beach. “Care to tell us about your latest attempt to get yourself killed?”

You rub the sore part of your skull, your hair still kinda smelling like stale beer, doing your best to tell them about the karaoke bar, while dusting a few grains of glass out of your hair.

You’re tossed a toasted sandwich, fresh off the fire pit, and you bite in thankfully, before Eva clears her throat noisily, her new earrings glimmering in the fire light. “Well, good for you.” She finally nods, “Good work getting her out of there, I mean.”

Elecmon pipes up, “Are you alright? You’re acting… nicer than usual.”

She glowers at him for a moment, ‘tch’ing loudly. “Why? Because I’m being nice?”

“Yes.” Gotsumon nods.

The blonde huffs, crossing her arms over her chest, before the two digimon decide to call it a night and get some sleep, dawn approaching quickly.

“She’s going to be hungover, isn’t she?” Eva groans, clapping a hand to her forehead, and rising to her feet, “Come on, I know a cure that always works when my mum’s been on a bender, just need to pick up some ingredients.”

She jerks her thumb down the street, pointing at a convenience store. “Like what?”

She reels off, counting on her fingers, “Vodka, tomato juice, some celery, bit of-”

“That’s a Bloody Mary.” You point out.
>>
Her smile quirks a little, “And? Works on mother dearest. Only other thing I know is what Mark told me, and he says best cure for a hangover is to never get sober.”

“And Mark is…” You groan, massaging your head.

She just rolls her eyes, “Not the point, friend of mine, whatever. We going?”

>Just water will do her fine, don’t feel like walking
>Let’s just get her some OJ.
>You just want to spend some quality time alone with me, huh Eva?

While it's messy I have fun with the new lore and art. Some of it actually looks pretty good.

My father has just pass away and left me with a huge collection of his gaming books. Many of them are old and from the 70's. i plan to keep some of them but i was thinking of selling some of the other ones. What do you guys think would be the best way to go about doing that? My dad told me that Noble Knight games would be a good place or Gen Con but im currently in rolled in college in Virginia and dont live near Wisconsin. Some of the games he left are Ring world, the first Call of Cthulhu, panzer battles among other things. From what my dads says he says that his collection has some books worth a lot of money.

First of all, on a completely unrelated note, it'd be a terrible thing to steal something of your fathers to make some quick cash.

On a related note, don't you want to keep those? Just selling your fathers shit just after he passed sounds kind of cold.
>>
>>46322910
I don't want to sell all of them but it is a huge collection and I just dont have the space.I would love for it to be auction off at Gen Con as that is something that my dad and i love doing and were we got most of the collection.I just know i wont be able to do all these books justice by keeping them in a box and it would be great to give these books to people who will take great care of them.

It could be that op inherited most of his assets after he passed and doesn't have room for them all.

OP idk if this would be your best option but I'd look for local cons happening in your state.

I personally probably wouldn't sell them immediately though and would probably try and hold on to most of them. But that's just me

The inevitable invasion of their home city-state mere days away, Samson and several others prepare for the worst. Planning on retreating North into Noba, at least for the time being, he, his family, and a few other folks and their families plan their retreats with little organization or assistance from the lord of the land.

A few days later, the flagship of Director Waldrick, as well as several others behind him, reach the shores of Holmstead, prepared for an easy fight. Rene, along with her own companions, prepares to fight for the Empire. Her and her sister have tasted battle back on the Isle of Wyrm, but this is their first "true" fight.

Little do they expect Sir Dyrus, accompanying King Augustus and many Noban Knights, to also be right on their collective way towards Holmstead to defend it, confident in the ease at which the few who remained North will defeat Director Belinda's forces.

Whose perspective will be followed?

Is there any good mechanical reason to wield a melee weapon in Cypher?

Ranged weapons have virtually no downsides compared to melee weapons. They deal the same damage for their light/medium/heavy weapon category, and they have the same accuracy.

There are no penalties for shooting an enemy point blank, and in fact, the difficulty is lowered by 1 (or 3 on a d20) for shooting an enemy point blank, which means that if an enemy is right next to you, you should fire your bow or your rifle rather than draw a melee sidearm. If you have a knife and someone is next to you, you should throw it rather than stab them.

On top of all this, the rules for movement are very harsh (unless you have a special ability or you succeed on a risky roll, moving more than a few feet costs you your action).

With all of this in mind, why ever wield a melee weapon?

Twelve arrows or twelve crossbow bolts in the "fantasy" equipment list cost as much as a burlap sack, a candle, three torches, or a "rusty and worn" knife.

50 rounds in the "modern" equipment list cost as much as a duct tape roll, a flashlight, or a day's worth of trail rations.

50 shots' worth of energy in the "sci fi" equipment list cost the same as a day's worth of survival rations.

Does the physical attack inability of the Calm descriptor affect the Adept type's Onslaught when the energies are used to assail the target's physical form?

Calm descriptor:
>Inability: You’re just not a fighter. The difficulty of all physical attacks is increased by one step.

Adept type:
>Onslaught (1 Intellect point): You attack a foe within short range using energies that assail either his physical form or his mind. In either case, you must be able to see your target. If the attack is physical, you emit a force blast: a ray of force that inflicts 4 points of damage. If the attack is mental, you focus your mental energy into a mindslice that disrupts the creature’s thought processes, inflicting 2 points of Intellect damage (ignores Armor). Some creatures without minds (such as robots or zombies) might be immune to a mindslice. Action.

I have created a game where my players and there people (medieval norse setting) will eventually get sent to a fantasy world from a portal in north America (as if explaining why the norse colony there suddenly disappeared).
Is there any other instances where a group of people got lost from the pages of history that I can use ?
For example I will add the knights templar who arrive later and become the worlds first human paladin group.

===============

You are Prince Meirion auk Gwyrren, the only sane man in a royal family with dubious concepts of strategy, justice, taxation, and governance in general. You have made it your goal in life to keep your family on the throne and your head firmly attached to your body.

Also, your evil uncle tried to chemically castrate you. You should deal with that.

A cursory investigation by Myrddin suggests that you were your uncle's target this time, so your older brother and father should be in perfect health. Since you managed to avoid your uncle's poison, it seems that all is well and that his plot has been foiled, at least for the moment. Now, you just need to plot your retaliation.

"It's a pretty far-sighted plot," Myrddin says. "The Crown Prince marries a maid, the second prince can't father any heirs. If something happened to the princess, the king's succession would be tenuous at best and your uncle would be able to smoothly claim the throne."

"Are you sure you're all right, your highness?" Olwen asks. "I can check, if you want to make sure."

"Haha, no, I'm fine, thank you." Plus you already checked. You're perfectly fine. "The question is, is the maid in on my uncle's plot, or is he just being opportunistic?"

"There's been no progress on that front," Myrddin says. "We could pursue that investigation, or we can retaliate against Prince Aled."

"He must have gotten his poison from someone," Olwen says. "It's an inconspicuous poison on its own, but someone in the Alchemists' Guild might be involved with this, if only indirectly. If we deal with them now, it might prevent future poisoning attempts against you or others."

>"The poisoner is an immediate threat. We'll investigate the alchemists."

Ok, memes aside, could his Steehl Rehn strategy have worked in the long run?
Or was he really the Field Marshal Haig of Space Marines, plagued by sheer incompetence that would cause his later downfall?

>>
>>46317393

Haig wasn't incompetent. He also never had a downfall. He was still in command of the BEF in the war-winning battles of 1918. If this interests you then Gary Sheffield's books 'Forgotten Victory' and 'The Chief' are worth reading. Even Haig's modern critics like Prior and Wilson reject the mythological version of him being an imbecile (their books are also good and worth reading).

Steel Rain is viable as a tactic because it's basically how Marines operate: shock assault at key areas. The concept of an orbitally-delivered mobile reserve is basically sound, though it has the downside of being one-way. You can't fire pods back up into space so you'll need either transports or a very short campaign.

Regardless, it's not always going to be workable. Dropping pods blind into a Death World jungle isn't likely to end well. It has limited utility in cities, especially hives. It does also rely on having orbital superiority and that the enemy lack sufficient anti-aircraft weapons and interceptors.

Hey all newish Dm here and I need some advice. I have a player in my campaign who made another player sign a Contract detailing what his role will be in the party and such which is fine I don't mind that it ads to the role play factor, but there are times where he holds up the campaign for everyone cause he argues about the contract. He also spends every moment of the campaign second guessing my decisions as DM cause he memorized all the rule books. The main focus of my campaign is for people to learn 5e and I brought him in originally to help people learn and all he does is talk down and berate them. I've tried talking to him about this and he hasn't changed his behavior. What should I do as Dm to rectify this issue?

>>
Let's clarify a couple things. Firstly, was this a contract between the 'characters' or between the 'players'? If it was between characters then just let them roleplay it out, maybe drop hints to have someone arbitrate in game. If it's between players then you need to step in and rip that fucking contract into shreds. There's rules lawyering autism, which is annoying but manageable, and then there is this. You are letting this one player dictate the game because you don't feel as comfortable with the rules as they do.

Stop, take a breath, and repeat after me; "I am the DM. The rules are in place to help me, they are subject to my whims, I am not a prisoner to them in letter or in spirit." And it's the truth. You need to assert control. If you want to play a RAW game then sit down and familiarize yourself more with the rules, but otherwise just enjoy the game and if something comes up you're not sure on - crack open the book and find the answer.

In fact, after typing this all out I'm more inclined to just say boot that player or tell them that they can either rip up the contract and approach the game as an equal and worthwhile player or they can fuck off.

Is it only the recent dead?
22 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
You need them to be still alive enough to be turned into a servitor. Then they're more or less mechanical, until they 'break down' as the organic parts stop functioning.
>>
Generally I think you have to be alive to be Servitorized. For the soul.

The reason why that one looks dead, is because why the fuck would you care what a servitor looks like? Especially a combat model.

30k mechanicum could do it, but it was considered on the knife edge of tech heresy.

You retreat around the corner, pressing your back into the cold stone wall of the ancient chamber and channeling Metal to obscure your thoughts. You feel a pulse of vys, and suddenly find that you can no longer perceive the man who'd been searching for you. The skeletal outline of his limp form sketched by the soft suscitations of his breath has simply vanished from the floor where it lay.

His attacker's delicate footsteps carve out an image of the figure in your mind's eye. They are thin to the point of being gaunt and their once elaborately wrought robes have been rendered threadbare by the passage of ages. The creak of a hinge reveals to you an outline of the shelves along the left side of the room, and a few seconds later the weighty thud of a door closing sketches out in vagueries a small room beyond.

You wait, half expecting the figure to appear around the corner to drag you off with the Vatis who'd been stalking you. After a time you creep slowly up to the corner and peek your head around, relieved to find that the ancient samjan seems to be truly gone, and not simply lying in wait for you. Your eye is drawn once more to the shrine at the end of the hidden room, shielded as it is by a glowing barrier.

(1/2)
>>
The heavy wooden door through which the strange figure vanished is shrouded behind a set of heavy velvet curtains, and you watch it with a wary eye as you slip around the corner. You've no way of knowing how long you have to ransack the library unmolested, but if you're going to try and get past that barrier now would be the time to do so.

>Perhaps you can disassemble the enchantment generating the barrier?
>Screw this nonsense, you came here for a casual browse through the library. Sneak out while you still can.
>They say curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back. You have to know what lies on the other side of that door.
>You don't want to risk attracting the ancient's attention by disturbing the barrier, but perhaps you might find something of value hidden amongst the shelves.
