We're getting really close to the SoI prerelease and I think it's best if we went over what you should expect as well as how to act

I have some tips for first timers and experienced players alike

Experienced players

>help new players

I think this is most important, during deck construction if you see someone who looks confused or uneasy, ask them if they have any questions or would like some help

Do not just make they're deck for them, just offer friendly suggestions on card choices, land count, creature to spell ratio

Don't insult they're card choices, try to avoid saying certain cards are "bad" just try to gently hint about how there might be better cards to choose for that slot

During games help them understand interactions between cards, encourage them to call a judge over if they don't understand how something works, most importantly be friendly and patient

>misplays and missed triggers happen, let some amount of rollback to occur

These are new cards, even pros can mess up, being the shitter who doesn't let his opponent take back even the slightest thing not a good idea, if you let them take something back its much more likely that theyll extend the same courtesy to you if you make a mistake or misplay

>avoid salt

This one is the hardest, if a game just goes poorly or if your opponent is a particular kind of asshole it can really grind your gears

Bad luck happens, try to shake it off and as for the pricks, they may be doing it on purpose to goad you into making mistakes, your better than such scummy tactics

New players

>don't be afraid to ask for help when building your deck

A prerelease can be very overwhelming to knew players, but I think it's a very good time to learn, you may have to read a lot of your cards but many others are in the same boat, even the experienced players

But if you don't really know how to build the deck then it's best to ask someone that seems to know what they're doing

See, I like them because in my opinion they helped flesh Ravenloft out into a more coherent setting and not just a loose jumble of horror tropes. You're right about 3e/5e though. Across all editions, I think there's a bad habit of "horror" turning into "adventure with a horror theme".

Personally, I believe that something like RQ 6 with some houserules is a way better system to run Ravenloft.[/spoiler

What's so bad about having a "rape baby" back ground anyway? As long as you don't fetishise it then surely "my face remind my mother of my father, so she always looked upon me with mixed emotions so I decided to leave" seem as good of a reason for adventuring as any? It even has built in plot hook of you finding your father for bonding/revenge for the DM.

You've been neglecting the temple lately and now the spring rains have dried up, you have a chance to put some of Mesut's new innovation to work. You still have no roadways, but they still should speed things up a little bit. So, mindful of the gods expectations, you incite the tribe to put their backs into things. Beren and Noh dutifully comply with your request. They don't have much to go with, but your son hits upon an interesting idea. If they carefully shape bone and wood into the parts for tools, you might be able to imbue them with magic, making them valuable goods to trade further afield. Even if the enchantment doesn't take, the carvings should make them worth at least a little more.

In a shocking turn of events the largest and most powerful nations bordering the desert have defied the I.F. and withdrawn from the assembly of nations. An international taskforce lead by the feared Peace Keepers now marches across the desert to quash this threat.

On the other side of the desert a tiny nation called the Principality of Beskaosia must hold out against a massive invasion from the belligerent country of N.O.R.D. The Principality's small but dedicated military is no match for the N.O.R.D onslaught. To bolster the line a certain mercenary company has been called in, but will their team of elite mech pilots be enough to turn the tide?

(Welcome to the Mecha Mercs Skirmish Campaign.

This is a tactical turn based collective game where each player takes on the role of a mech pilot. As the campaign progresses the players will accumulate a supply of resources which can be used to build up a persistent pool of mechs and equipment, but watch out! If your pilot dies you could lose it all and be forced to start again with an inferior mech.

Just how good is Adepta Sororitas armor? Is it better than Ignatus pattern armor? Does other types of non marine power armors exist in 40k?

Sororitas power armor is equal to Astartes power armor in its level of protection and the DEGREE of Strength augmentation. However, since Sororitas are not genetically enhanced and lack the Black Carapace upgrade, they don't have the same ACTUAL level of strength augmentation, and do not control their Power Armor directly through a neural interface like a Space Marine can through his BC.

I'm also going to defend boobplate here - why on earth would an all-female fighting force who are not constrained by money and exist purely to exploit the fact that they are female NOT glorify the female form whenever they can? Besides, anything that can penetrate Power Armor is going to be powerful enough to where shot-traps aren't much of an issue.

They have human power armor for Inquisitors and other rich humans.

They are as protective and offer enhanced strength just like marine armor, but lack the integrated systems and the neural connection of the space marine's black carapace. So they are more like traditional sci fi power armor while marine power armor is more like Crysis nanosuits or integrated bio armor with hard exterior.

Also I think the human power armor doesn't have the stuff like turning your urine and shit into food.

Hey /tg/, I'm a very green DM, (2 Sessions under my belt) and I was looking for a system that I could use for a Fallout-Centric setting, with gameplay to match. I've checked the existing Fallout PNP and they seem very clunky.

I think this is the same guy giving it a second try since the first thread got hijacked by someone shouting "stop liking what I don't like".

OP, you sid the existing Fallout PNP was too clunky for their tasts I presume you mean the GURPS one posted in the first thread. If you want something lighter you try Apocalypse World maybe, but I don't know if that would quite work. You could also take the GURPS book and use it as a set of guidlines for Savage Worlds or Fate maybe.

I've also heard people suggest using a game called Atomic Highway for Fallout, but I don't know much about it.

As of Late I have been toying with the notion of designing an RPG for the Magic the Gathering setting, or settings rather. Currently its at the earliest bare bones stages, and all the numbers are rough estimates, but i Would appreciate some feedback on what I have down.

First you would pick a race, lets say for example you pick goblin, your choice of goblin will give you a preset line of stats, average strength, good endurance and dex, bad int and wisdom, great luck, something along those lines, (havent decided on what number scale im using)

Then you would pick a class, which would give you your skill and item proficiancies, so lets say our goblin is going to be a warrior, which gives him proficiency with all sorts of weapons, not so much armor, and some wilderness survival skills and the like

Finaly you would pick a color, and destribute your points. based on what options your race/class favor; Goblins are red all the way, and warriors are red or green, so our goblin warrior could be either red or green, feeling rebellious he decides hes green

Now lastly you would get 25 ish points to spend on your charicter, enhancing those base stats and skills, and buying new proficiancies and abilities. Since hes green, he would look over the green table to see whats avalible and how much things cost for green.

Leveling up would basicly cycle that last step, gaining a new "orb" of mana, and a new batch of points to further improve your charicter. Leveling would be staggered as well with colorless levels being rather cheap in XP but basicly being purely for stats, without access to any colored abilities, levels in his primary color being the standard cost, and levels bought from any secondary or tertiary colors to bring in versatility being bought at a premium

Neato burrito idea, but terrible choice when it comes to lore. I'd recommend sampling lore from another universe. Azeroth has a suprisingly full fluff if you're going for popularity amongst MtG crowd whilst still having a good story, as do other fantasy worlds both in games and in books.

Sitting down in what was now your cabin, you looked over the paper carefully, ink pen in hand. After two hours of having your head meet desk, you had scrapped any sort of seniority-based, council-based, or any sort of autonomous system for getting vessels commanders. Too much work on your end met too many opportunities for asshats like Penar to get in was what you thought of every time. Thus, the new plan was simple- Imperial Fiat. You were the Emperor of the Sea, (in title only) and as such had to confirm all grants of command. You set up some minor guidelines for appointing command, and then proceeded to apply them.

Penar’s first mate, Miguel Santos, would be the Captain of the Carolina. You had sketched out some nonsense plans for things like a hydroponics area, an ammunition shop, a foundry, and a training grounds as sort of proto-improvements which could be built to keep the plebeians busy and maybe get them to advance themselves to becoming respectable citizens.

Your nominal go-to guy, a Sailor by the name of Felts, was going to be Captain of the Arroschere. While the Carolina was going to get upgraded support facilities, the Arroschere was going to be the hit ship. Emptied of everyone except the bare minimum company of Sailors and Engineers and the prizes of Soldiers (Three cheers for the Hero’s Welcome, folks!) would be kicked off, and then as many Warriors as you could cram aboard would be loaded. A small prize crew would be kept aboard in case you found anything good, but aside from that the Arroschere would go fast and scan loud.
