Quick! You have 10 seconds to write an original hook for a campaign that takes place in a generic mecha universe (Gundam, Macross, etc).

While intergalactic battle rages on, some ragtag mercenaries gather in a small tavern of backwater planet. Bandit raids are more and more frequent and the town mayor wants the "Bandit King" dead.
My MtG ban list wants for April:
Standard: Jace, Vryn's Prodigy and Collected Company are banned.
Modern: Eye of Ugin and Eldrazi Temple are banned. Ancestral Vision and Stoneforge Mystic are unbanned.
Legacy: Sensei's Divining Top is banned
Vintage: Mishra's Workshop is restricted. Chalice of the Void and Trinisphere are unrestricted.

I'm trying to find a video of someone using a staff weapon practically. It can be any type - halberd, quarterstaff, pike, spear. Doesn't matter.
Pretty much every video I've found so far have been choreographed fights with lots of idiotic flipping and spinning.
There are a few playfight videos that are okay like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJcTD5qIZJ4
But a lot of them are just flailing about randomly. I feel like maybe I'm using the wrong search terms, maybe someone else will have better luck.
You're also welcome to use this thread to request any other fighting / showcase videos for something you're roleplaying.
>>46321083
look up "bo kata," or any type of kata, really. That'll get you some good japanese stuff.
Try and find videos of Jukendo competitions.
It's a martial art for the bayonet.
Not a perfect 1:1 for spear fighting, but pretty close.
Naginatado matches are good, too.
Here's some practical pollaxe wielding

What's the best R/W creature?
Anax and Cymede
Lightning Helix on a body.
New to MtG here.
Assuming I pay the one, tap the BiaJ and it has the appropriate number of counters on it, will this let me play sorceries during my opponent's turn?

Yes.

No, it still requires casting.

Yes you can
About to DM in DnD for the second time ever. This is my first time making a campaign.
Any tips for writing adventures or DMing?
>>46318211
>Try to hook the players with something interesting within the first session.
>Make sure to specify to the players ahead of time what classes will and wont be useful in the campaign. If there isn't a lot of room for diplomacy make sure they know that before they pick Bard and max out on charisma skills.
>If a player comes up with an idea that works but you didn't plan for sometimes it helps to just humor them rather than improvise a reason why they can't do it.
>The best way to deal with interparty conflict is to have a threat show up and force the players to work together, if they don't then maybe one of them dies and the problem goes away.
>>46318211
How did your first time go?
All I can say is learn from your mistakes, after the session note down things you think you did wrong, and try to think of a way to improve on them, think of what you did really well, and be sure to keep doing it.
Ask for feedback from your players too.
>>46318557
Should I start the session immediately with a hook that thrusts them into the adventure?
What's the creepiest/most disturbing scene you've ever witnessed in a game?
Out of character or in game? I've never seen anything too disturbing around a game table, I've seen a few temper tantrums, a couple walkouts and near fistfights. The closest to being made uncomfortable I'd say was the VtM game with the two 40 year olds next to their four open garbage cans reeking of fetid waste while the played "Want to Live Forever" by Queen on repeat for six hours.
In character I've seen rapes, mass murders, famine, callous torture, etc. Lot of cannibalism, or DM is big into cannibalism.
>>46318028
In game, of course.
>Lot of cannibalism, or DM is big into cannibalism.
Care to elaborate?
>>46317933
My warlock recently held a an enemy down with telekinesis and then cast Evard's Black Tentacles inside of her body. Pretty gruesome way to go, and the the DM went into explicit detail. The rest of the party was pretty horrified, but the cult members we were fighting ran off straight away.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type_personality_theory
Blood type as a measure of personality is a staple of anime and anime inspired games.
Now, assuming a world where blood type does in fact determine one's blood type, what sort of personality characteristics be associated with PFC, or perfluorocarbon synthetic blood?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorocarbon
Also, what are some other potential blood types one might add to such a setting, and what sort of personality types might be associated with them?
>>46316952
>blood type does in fact determine one's blood type
Pretty sure it does, anon.
Also, what do y'all think about nanite-infused smart blood? You get the advantages of accelerated healing and the ability to precisely control how oxygen and nutrients are distributed through your body, but holy shit make sure your blood doesn't get hacked!
>>46317118
What's your blood type, anon?
It's been years since I last sold plasma or donated blood, so I'm ashamed to say that I cannot remember what my blood type is. I want to say A-?

You stand up and test out your new boots.
"How does that feel?" Derrick asks.
You jump a few times, and take a few steps. "More comfortable than before" You say. "And they fit pretty well"
"That's good to hear" Derrick says. "Anything else we should grab here before we move on?"
"I dunno" You say.
"How are we getting to Contique, anyway?" Ilica asks. "I have no problems with walking, and I don't think you guys do either... but I don't think Lily or Daisy have that kind of stamina"
"I totally do!" Lily says. "It's Daisy that can't hack it!"
"I can too!" Daisy says.
Both devils cross their arms and try to look tough.
"Nevermind then, if you guys say you can walk it..." Ilica says.
Aaaaaand the toughness melts away.
"I-I mean, sure we could make it the whole way... but who wants to walk that far. Right Daisy?" Lily says.
"Yeah. I could walk there no problem, but that s-sounds really boring" Daisy says. "C-couldn't we find a faster way?"
"There you have it" Ilica says. "These kids are wimps. Is there any way we could get a cart or something?"
Lily and Daisy pout and glare at Ilica, prompting her to poke her tongue out at them
Derrick checks the coin pouch. "With this much I don't think I could justify buying a ride to Contique..." He says. "A ride, plus travel supplies... and I was hoping we could all get at least a change of clothes"
"Budget stretched thin?" Emi asks.
"Too thin" Derrick says.
Behind you, the old cartermesser clears his throat to grab your attention. "You lot said you were going to Contique, right?" He asks.
"Yes... why?" Derrick asks.
The old guy thinks for a moment. "Do any of you guys drive?" He asks.
"I can operate a powered cart, if that's what you're asking" Derrick says.
"Good" He says. "We've run into a bit of a snag, if you'll hear me out"
Derrick turns back to the group.

Hi /tg/,
I'm currently running a campaign in which the players are trapped in Commorragh and are being tormented and followed by a sadistic Haemonculus, whom is allowing them to perhaps attempt escape, only to find themselves trapped in torturous games and twits and turns.
I want to create a real and tangible feeling of paranoia and despair amongst the players, by setting up escape scenarios only for them to be orchestrated by this seemingly everpresent pinhead like haemonculus.
I'd like to have clever SAW movie like scenarios, and truman show like twists without being railroady.
Any stories about cruel twists and scenarios you have presented for your players, or been presented as players? I'm struggling to come up with real twists and traps which will make the players genuinely unnerved and creeped out and give a feeling of hopelessness.
The haemonculus is trying to crush their spirits, ramsay bolton style,.
Any advice, fellow sadists?
Thanks.
>characters escape commorragh
>finish campaign
>'that was a top laff m8'
>continue next campaign with same characters
>start with them all waking up
>back in commorragh
>dark eldorks drugged characters

Fuck OP I don't know, I wish I was more creative/spooky.
>>46316315
I'd love to help come up with sadistic shit, but I have zero GMing experience so I doubt I'd be helpful...

Perhaps your players are different, but I don't know many people who would enjoy playing this.
How the fuck do demiplanes work?
Essentially, they're all closed systems, so how would foliage, weather, and populations of animal life function inside?
This thread is also for general planar discussion. Post your favorite planes, etc.
>>46314528
Magic.
>>46314528
>How the fuck do demiplanes work?
Yeah they're pretty complicated, which is why you need to be a particularly fancy wizard to make them happen.
Also, Elemental Demiplane of Gang Violence is the best. In my setting it's a sub-plane of Ysgard, so the entire plane is just people gunning each other down forever.

been using unseen servant and silent image to do a bit of "dread pirate roberts" stuff, distant mage, lighting fires with my cantrips/unseen servant
i'm considering taking diviner
red robes of neutrality duh
Considering that red and violet were generally for nobles and their retainers only?
Green or yellow.
You could always go blue
