>can't consistently kill before turn 4
>infect
Why does wizards do this? I'm not calling for a ban or anything, but infect can sure as fuck pull off turn 3 wins easily. I don't get why wizards had to go and ban Amulet Bloom and Twin and let infect be a thing, it really makes no sense to me. I only mention this, because I was played ting against it last night, and if you're not running a decent amount of interaction, you pretty much lose to infect.
>>46980769
because any real interaction shuts it right down.
>>46980769
> i don't like noninteractive explosive decks
>but i don't like to play interactive spells
>>46980769
Because the only way Infect wins turn three is if your opponent can't interact with the board in any way. Any creature deck wins quick under those circumstances.
So WoTC has been trying to save Standard as of late, but they've been going about it the wrong way . The reason why standard has been losing popularit is because of outrageous prices. The new rotation schedule will only make prices higher, as a faster rotation will naturally attract more sketchy vendors (like the ones who destroyed the YGO community). WoTC, you know what you need to do to save Standard? STOP PRINTING MYTHIC RARES IN STANDARD SETS!
>>46997269
Rotation speed is irrelevant you dumb faggot. It's putting good cards at absurd rarities that kills formats and raises prices.
The fact that it rotates at all is already a turn off.
>>46997280
Exactly. Mythic Rares are killing Magic, not just Standard.
Yugioh is nearing death because the prices were absurd for years, so they've hit the panic button and have been reprinting everything for the past couple years as a last-ditch effort.
>>46997280
Rotation is the best thing about it imo, only way to stop eternal power creep. Yugioh is now unplayable and possibly broken forever
If/when you have a daughter and she starts exhibiting the telltale signs of a ca/tg/irl, would you be worried or excited about it?
>>46931110
As long as it's not Twilight/50 Shades roleplay, I'd be fine with it. I don't see how you expected to get discussion out of this, OP. We're a board full of roleplayers. Of course we'd accept our (possible) kids getting into the hobby.
I have a daughter and she is. It's slightly less worrying than if she wanted makeup and short skirts.

When the last of the burning spots fade from your eyes, you find yourself in the antechamber once more. Jun has since vacated her seat, leaving you alone in the plush, velvet-draped room. You pluck a glass of water from the table and swallow its contents in three long gulps.
Vague impressions are scorched in negative across your mind's eye. The King's smiling, bemused face; the brief glimpse of a woman in a gown; the feeling of falling, endless falling and chill.
All things considered, you think that meeting went well.
As if on cue, the door behind you swings open. You adjust your mask before turning to greet the newcomer. The tall, thin councilman with the dark beard stands behind you, flanked on either side by a member of the royal guard.
“Totemist.”
“Councilor.”
He paces forward, stepping past your seat to settle down opposite you. The guards remain in the doorway behind you. The councilman wastes no time in getting to the point.
“The King has spoken,” he decrees. “He finds no fault with your intent, and the council no reason why we should not agree to your proposal.” You tense momentarily as he reaches into his long jacket. After a moment, he withdraws a wax-sealed scroll. He proffers the parchment to you.
“Deliver this to your village's governing official. Once their signature and seal are marked upon the document, return it to us and we will begin deliberation regarding the cost and timeline of the road's initial construction.”
You accept the weighty roll, tucking it into your cloak. “Thank you, councilman...?”
“Mos. Mos Cagari.”
“Councilman Cagari,” you finish. “I will see this delivered to the elders with all speed.”
He rises from his seat. “If there's nothing else, I bid you good day and safe travels, Totemist.”
You incline your head to him respectfully. “Thank you for your time.”
You heave a sigh of relief as the door closes behind him. One major obstacle down. Only thirty to go. You run down your mental checklist. Where to begin?
> Head back and deliver the seal of approval to the Elders immediately.
> Check in on Tybald and Jun.
> Bring Elana to one of the Seals near the village.
> Stop by the Pointsmar Site.
> Write-in

You are Osyki, journeyman Totemist and first line of defense for your village against the rabid Behemoths wandering the land. Your master, the previous Totemist, fell in a battle against a terrible Behemoth, leaving the duty of defending your settlement to you. Your meeting with the King of Eluenia has adjourned. The road to industry is paved.

COVER ME AVITUS HAJAAR
>>46999837
Cover your what?
No.
Am I the only one who didn't like Avitus?
He was slow and really only good at a range, and for whatever reason in the original Dawn of War II I could never find a heavy bolter better than the Lion's Roar, which was only good for so long. And plasma cannons and rocket launchers were a frustrating test of patience, as they were slow and often inaccurate. So by the late game, where enemies might come from any direction and infantry weren't in as small a groups as they used to be, he was functionally useless unless I slapped some terminator armor on him.
I know a lot of people don't like Thaddeus as much as I do, as a character or in the squad, and I admit in the early-game he's a lot less useful compared to Avitus. But in the later game you can give him Tarkus' old frag grenades to use alongside his krak grenades to make him a little more useful against infantry and units in cover, and his explosive strike is fairly good against vehicles and some buildings. Give him a power fist and he's even more of a vehicle killer, keep him with a chainsword and he's still decent at disrupting infantry. And you can give him melee weapons that give him health on a strike to make him more survivable, alongside better armor.
Tarkus and Davian Thule are far better and more useful than both though.

Yes...yes they are.

Mushrooms are just opportunistic forms of life.
However yes, you should be wary of them as the harbingers of negative energy, rot and the coming of bad times.
Why is D&D-style magic so obsessed with an arms race over magical countermeasures?
>How do you detect and overcome the Alarm spell? Cast Detect Magic to find it and then use Dispel Magic!
>How do you hide from a host of divination spells? Cast Nondetection!
>How do you see past an Invisibility spell? Cast See Invisibility!
>How do you get past the thicket of countless illusions that can confound even the sharpest of senses? Cast True Seeing!
>How do you remove someone from a Geas or a Flesh to Stone? Cast the right restorative spell!
>How do you prevent someone from being possessed by a Magic Jar spell? Cast the right Protection from X spell!
>How do you break someone free of a Mass Suggestion spell? Cast Dispel Magic!
>How do you prevent someone from teleporting into an important area? Cast Forbiddance!
Is there any way for this to NOT devolve into a series of hard counters and cops-and-robbers-style "I have a bullet-deflecting force field!"?
Why does it not just discard the magical countermeasures and give each spell ways to be reliably (yet challengingly) counteracted with mundane measures?

Magic must defeat magic!
>Tolkien writes a boring distilled fantasy setting of various boring European folk tales and mythologies, inserts his childish worldview into it, and decades later a hugely successful movie series is made from it.
>George RR Martin creates an even more 'gritty' and bland European fantasy adventure, ripping off even tolkien in parts, almost no fantastic elements at all and plotlines stolen from real world events and yet has a hugely successful TV series and is a popular meme setting to all the normies.
>Meanwhile you're lovely, handcrafted fantasy setting created from the very best myths and legends from around the world, stuck full of realism and intrigue, inflated with absolute majesty and awe will lounge forever in obscurity and impotence.
Just fuck my life up. This world is garbage.
>not sure if piss-poor b8 or just teenager with delusions of grandeur

People tell you they want realism and you think they want realism, but really, they don't.
Never let realism get in the way of a good story.
>>46975932
Realism more refers to human behavior then physical laws in this case. Especially in a fantasy setting where the Gods are proven to exist, physical laws of the world may operate by and entirely different or absent mechanism.

Can /tg/ help me name towns? This world doesn't have magic or elves in it, I wrote notes about the towns down. BLACK PEN IS COAST, BLUE IS RIVERS.
The names are supposed to be English, but further north can be Scandinavian.
>>47007442
Usually if we have zero ideas and we're playing Generic Fantasy TM we use local names and "translate" them into english (possibly not using the most direct translation, so to speak, to have something unusual).
But I guess oddly enough this shortcut isn't avaible to native english players.
Can you tell us something more about the world OP?

A dark chapter in our history was written - in the first month of 1076 AE(After Exile) the killing of several anti-government protesters in the kafi lands by a military officer sparked the beginning of a kafi uprising, which turned into a holy war for these subjects of the White Republic. As an answer the Kafi Extermination order was approved, yet the rebels persisted until anhilation. The news of the violent surpression of this rebellion spread to other non-white provinces and caused massive riots. Refusal to bow down to the demands of the rioters led to more conflict, a large-scale revolution throughout the provinces that lasted for nearly two years before being crushed by the military.
While the material damages of these uprisings will be restored in a matter of years, the political effects will last far longer.

The Home continent of Aymsland was where the uprisings took place. Over two million non-white casualties have been confirmed, troops are still stationed in the provinces and vassal states to oversee restoration of order.
Hundreds of thousands of people from subjugated races have migrated to Eyerdar, where the NPU promises a new life and freedom for all.

G.
We need scarier military tech to stay politically safe.
You are Kusajishi Riku, a shinigami and Captain of the Ninth Division of the Seireitei's Court Guard.
The inner world of your own soul is a desolate landscape, but at the same time it has always struck you as a surprisingly calming place despite its inhospitable appearance. The low hiss of gasses as they escape from the burning, blackened earth beneath your feet greets your ears, interrupted only by the crashing of distant waves on a rocky shore. A ceiling of stormy gray clouds stands motionless in the sky above, as if they were painted onto the inside of a dome by some masterful hand rather than having arisen due to some natural phenomenon. And the lone cherry tree where your zanpakuto spirits stand, eternally locked in luminous bloom, fills the still air with the faint but evocative scent of sakura.
Sometimes you wonder if anyone else's inner world is this weird by default.
“The first way of Ura Hadō, called “Sōgenbi”, is a dangerous technique in many ways,” your first zanpakuto Tenkotsuki explains, her nine golden tails swaying behind her idly, almost as if they were actually capable of boredom and restlessness. “To learn, to use, and in the existential sense. However such a technique is not without its uses... else it would never have been created in the first place.”
“I fear the time may soon come when you will need it.”
That sounds unusually ominous. “How do you mean, Tenkotsuki?”
“Before I sealed myself away from Muramasa,” she explains, recalling the moment when the rogue zanpakuto tried to forcibly “release” her from you and control her mind for his own ends, “I felt something that concerned me greatly. Something elusive, behind the chaotic and confused mass of his own energy and the hollow energy which currently sustains him.”
>1/?
>>47002580
Ah, so that's how a zanpakuto could remain active in such a state. With his wielder sealed rather than killed, all Muramasa would need to do is find an alternate method for resupplying his own reserves of reiatsu. With spiritual energy and a living wielder, of course he could survive long enough to pose a threat once more. But to feed on hollows for such a long time... his wielder must have been sealed well before you even joined the Onmitsukidō, maybe even before you died in the living world.
“He can't possibly be stable,” you conclude, your tone darkening at the realization of how dangerous Muramasa may still prove to be.
“Worse still,” Rosa continues, her echoing voice picking up where Tenkotsuki left off, “the vixen here told me hollows may not be all he's been eating.”
“I take it you're not talking McDonald's.”
“Though it would not surprise me to find one in Hueco Mundo, no,” Tenkotsuki sighs.
“Alright,” you frown, “so that's why you seem to think the time's right to learn it. But what's this about an “existential” danger?”
“Sōgenbi itself is the Saishodō, not the weakest technique but the first and perhaps most representative,” Tenkotsuki explains, beginning in her typical roundabout manner. “Unlike the system of numbered kidō that shinigami rely upon, Ura Hadō rely not on overwhelming power for their effectiveness but rather overwhelming force of will.”
“In the common tongue please, vixen,” Rosa chides, crossing her arms testily.
>2/3
>>47002633
“Ura Hadō is an outgrowth of what one might call an “arms race”, among beings who could literally write their will upon reality,” Tenkotsuki summarizes. “As such they may have a destructive effect more similar to a kidō spell much lower than the degree of difficulty and effort involved would suggest, but they will harm any being so long as the user's will is strong enough.”
“Meaning if you have the willpower, you can kick Susano'o in the balls and even he'll feel it,” Rosa adds. Rosa, answering the REAL question here.
“Strictly speaking, no,” Tenkotsuki replies with a frown. “But you could perhaps set him on fire, and then start kicking him. Whether that is a good idea or not... let us simply remind ourselves that “can” is not the same as “should”, and move on.”
>So by learning this technique I'll be stepping into a “balance of power” of sorts?
>Are there any other caveats that I should know about before proceeding?
>What does the “Saishodō” do, and why should I learn that technique rather than any other?
>Cool, but you had me at “new technique”. Where do we begin?
>Other?
>>47002654
>Are there any other caveats that I should know about before proceeding?
Gotta know it all.
