I don't think the game has gone to shit.
The problem with Mk3 is that while it made a lot of changes, the game itself doesn't seem to have changed much.
Like, it hasn't really gotten any worse, overall, and I think a lot of factions got much better.
It just doesn't feel any better than Mk2, and the edition should have done that.
What's going to make or break it, I think, is the tier lists and the first errata. If those make the game feel better, balance wise, you're going to see a lot more people get back into it.

aren't they 12/12/10? pretty much anything with a side armor of 12 isn't going to fly since unless it has a lower front armor (and I'm pretty sure the only thing that does is a specific flyer in 30k that is over 200 points anyway) it's going to total 34 or more

Not really, we've had Xeno infiltrators, Chaos infiltrators, Villains, Heroes, Normal Guardsmen, Crazed Guardsmen, Assassins, Psykers, Space Marines, Inquisitors, Squats... just think whathever and join the fun.

Yes as long as you don't use it to powerplay.

We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, but nothing is set in stone.
We tend to use greentexts for describing a character's actions, but again nothing is set in stone.
Use d20s for combat checks and d100s for other things you want to roll, higher Is better.
It's important to know that the regiment is now in the employ of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, with influence from an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and under the watch of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. Yes we've been through a lot of shit.

There's a surprising dearth of science-fiction that takes place during the initial colonization of the solar system. Most writers choose to skip right into the interstellar stage, which often cheapens the 'space' aspect of space travel. In many stories, space travel has been rendered mundane by plot devices like hyperdrives and warp-speed. The idea of humanity beginning to inhabit our solar neighborhood fascinates me, but settings that play on the vast, empty hostility of space are kind of rare these days.
Does anybody else feel this way?

The only thing that will bother me here is that they are printing these cards with wacky borders based on their respective plane.
With each plane only spanning two sets per block now, any deck that uses a multitude of these cards will be a mishmash of colors and designs despite some cards being the same type, and it will only take a couple years before it happens.
