Still plugging away at the unnamed Only War style game.

Got planes, default squadron types, and a good chunk of the ground work laid out. Need a bit of help coming up with some talents, skills, and some possible upgrades.

http://pastebin.com/FhZWc5Qq

Any input is appreciated.

What's up /tg/, I volunteer at my local library to help migrants learn English, and I'm looking for some traditional games (mainly board games) to play with some of the younger people that will help them.

Pic related, Scrabble is an obvious one as it will help build vocabulary. It doesn't have to be an outright word game like that though, it could be something more like Mafia/Werewolf where the entire game is done through conversation, so they will get a lot of practice talking to people while also having fun.

The usual number of players will probably be about 4-6, and it would be preferable if the games were more casual (easy to learn and quick to play), so most RPGs are out. And, obviously, give me your most fun games (Monopoly might help with some English skills, but it's fucking awful).

CAH is very obscene though, isn't it? At least from my experience, it's not something I'd want to expose them to. Or are there packs I can get that are more family friendly?

No, Just Pretend It's XXYYZZ, the online version, is very obscene. The board game version is much tamer.

Just saw this movie. From left to right
>the one who only shows up every 4th session
>the one who made a joke character and then realized he has to actually play them
>the one who doesn't care about roleplaying and just wants to combat
>the one who relentlessly minmaxed and owns way too many splats
>the one who doesn't care about combat and gets WAY too into roleplaying

Yeah. Force as an only supernatural type damage flat doesn't make sense.

but force is literally pure magic.

Its not actual concussive force as we think of it, thats covered by the various damage types of Bludgeoning, Slashing, and Piercing.

For some reason when we're deciding on a system he's always leaving towards D&D, must be job conditioning.

Two players, and another before that, who happened to see me talk about my Mutants and Masterminds 3e game in a Discord chat joined in and saved it. It was about to be subject to termination due to my IRL friends being unreliable as fuck. The two newest players even drew their own character designs, one of them seen here.

They also manage to roleplay morally ambiguous characters that are entertaining rather than completely obnoxious.

Alright /tg/ dust off your decks and grab your favorite Duran Duran eight track.

I'm planning on running a homebrew setting which could be summed up as "Firefly, but Miami Vice and Bladerunner instead of quippy cowboys"

Here's the question, in a setting of spaceships, FTL, instant communication, cybernetics, and the like, what in universe reasons would there be for
>decks for hacking
>football sized cell phones
>common place payphones
>Neuromamcer like hacking

The actually style and fashion choices can be handwaved, but I'm having a hard time justifying putting the clunky modularity back into future tech.

Also, what's the best system for hacking/netrunning? I'm going to run a reskinned FFG SW system, which is very narrative focused.

Hey, how would you like to play your favorite wargame with other members of /tg/, Absolutely free, and with very little in the way of hassle? No? Well, how would you like a huge repository of 3d printable models to use as you please?

http://battlebox3d.com/
This is BattleBox3d, a free 3D Tabletop Simulator that's about as good as you can get for the price. It supports Direct Client-to-Client games, LAN Games, and Custom Model Support, as well as all of the necessary features to play tabletop Wargames.

What this means is that if we can compile enough 3D Models, playing 40k online will not only be plausible, but also cheap, and ma

But Wait, it gets better:
http://www.meshmixer.com/
Meshmixer is another free program, one that was designed with miniatures in mind. The goal is to make it easy to combine model meshes together, then simplify and fill them to be as concise as possible, with the goal of 3D printing them. In other words, it lets you customize your models with virtual kits, then export a finished product. From there you can print them out and use them IRL, or you could open them up in a model painting program like Blender or Sculptris, and paint them for use in BattleBox3d.

So, Here's what I propose: We create a massive archive of 3D models, including various weapons and accessories to act as kits, as well as digital maps, and start our own virtual wargame community. Most of the work is already done for us: http://www.yeggi.com/q/warhammer+40k/?s=t0

Even if you're not interested in virtual gaming, there's still the fact that this will be a huge resource for real wargaming, letting you customize your armies with your own 3D printable models.

So, what do you say?

>>50503811
Why so cynical? Honestly this is the easiest thing relative to the payoff. We trawl various sources for 3d models of 40k, convert them to a suitable model, for both printing and the program, then stick them all in an Archive. from there it's a matter of the community using them.
>>

So, is this how it happens? Do we finally fuck over GeeDubs by making the game cheaper than they could ever hope to make it?

I start applying their NPC racial traits from the DMG to higher-CR NPC stat blocks in the MM and VGM.

Which of these seems more promising for a Water Domain Channel Divinity?
Channel Divinity: Invigorating Waters
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to safeguard yourself and your allies.
As an action, you present your holy symbol and summon a barrier of magical water over a number of creatures within 30 feet up to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of one creature). These creatures gain temporary hit points equal to two times your cleric level. A creature protected by the barrier’s speed increases by 10 feet. The barrier lasts as for an hour, or until the temporary hit points it grants are depleted.
OR Channel Divinity: Churning Waves
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to tip your enemies’ balance.
As an action, you hold your holy symbol aloft and summon the force of a rushing river or crashing wave. Any hostile creatures within 30 feet of you must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If any of these creatures attempts to move more than 5 feet on their next turn, they must make the saving throw again or fall prone and lose their remaining movement.
>>
>>50502104
I have yet to use Disarming Attack to actually dis-arm an enemy, but
Last session we were fighting a giant and I just wanted to apply the Blind condition. It was prone and Slowed, so I could reach its eyes, and I whipped out my pot of ink and tried smashing it in the giant's face. I figured it'd be 1d4+Str and maybe Blind, cool, mission accomplished.
>DM: wait, let me look up the damage for that
>Me: improvised weapons are just 1d4
>DM: there's another chart... here
>DM: give me 2d10
>mfw this giant is now rolling around (slowly) with ink and broken glass in his eyes and a jackass Warlock screaming rude things in its mind, utterly incapacitated

I know there have been lots of threads on this in the past, but I am a new fag (so, if you have an archived thread, just linking that would be fine), and I am wondering just how gloriously overpowered 40K is compared to other sci fi/space universes like Star Wars, Dune, Mass Effect, etc.

Bonus points for a picking another universe that is obscure to compare.

this is pretty unique, but I'm not sure how one would use it in a system without the players immediately ignoring it.

Me neither actually. It's mostly been tinkering for fun. I doubt I would actually use it for real so to say.
>>
They would probably use something similar to arabic or roman numerals. Counting begins by counting fingers in some fashion after all, so number systems almost always reflect that.

If I recall there was one tribe that counted the spaces between fingers though giving them a base 8 system which was quite interesting.
