Would a Bastion-like campaign be fun?

Bastion the video game from Supergiant, makers of Transistor, that OP's pic is from, not the overwatch character.

What are your favorite fantasy settings /tg/? Any cosmologies that you guys like?
I usually make my own settings but I want to see what you recommend for inspiration/reuse.
Nobody on /tg/ actually plays games.
We just make up our own stuff and fap over our storytime.
I have a full mast retard hard on for Final Fantasy settings. Each game is set in it's own universe with it's own unique cosmology, cultures, style, and rules (that technically exist in a multiverse that is rarely explored). But the main theme of Final Fantasy games is trying something new every single time. So you get crazy settings where an evil corporation has discovered how to drain the after life for energy in order to fuel their modern style war machine in a fantasy esque setting, a low atmosphere space colony controlled by propaganda to hate the surface world in a ploy by robot gods to commit genocide large enough that it opens the gates of heaven wide enough that they can ask dad for advice, a world where megalomaniac witches are sealed in orbital satellite tombs regularily maintained by astronauts to keep them from breaking free, aliens invading a low fantasy setting by manipulating monarchs into raging war so that they can harvest souls for their reincarnation cycle, and... There is just a lot of crazy shit there that can be used.
I personally make my own settings, but my favorite ones are settings with physical rules and laws of reality that are not literally real world physics + magic changing them.
As in people literally get sick by miasma, not microorganisms. The leaves change every year at fall not because of hibernation of the trees but because a tiny fairy goes around and paints them, and so on.
one sword fire, one sword magic, can summon a ghost clone.

And based on the recent DLC (SPOILERS) he came from the painted world, where it is cold, but rejected the need to harness it. So cold resistance should probably be in his statline.

Can an antagonist that is in it for the lulz actually work? Pic related.
>>50960792
The Joker. That is all.
>>50960811
Yeah, OP can be forgiven for not realizing it, since the recent movies have sucked all the humor out of the guy and replaced it with edgy, but the Joker really does treat it all as a big laugh.
>>50960792
It can work. But if you're going to do this and this antagonist is going to be a major point, you need a little more. Generally speaking, people like that don't succeed without patronage or a major failure of the system.
>Nurgle Cultists never steal and deploy Virus Bombs in service to their god
This isn't a problem exclusive to them of course, but it's been stated they don't use them any more because they feed Nurgle, but the mechanicus wouldn't let any of their sacred exterminatus devices be destroyed or dismantled and I refuse to believe that the Imperium's operational security is good enough to ensure nobody ever steals any of their stuff.
So what's the deal? I'm sure if you've got one it wouldn't take much to slap together a ritual to use it to turn a world into a daemon world.
>>50958252
Fans prefer the dominance of Khorne and Tzeench over Nurgle and Slaanesh
>>50958252
>I refuse to believe that the Imperium's operational security is good enough to ensure nobody ever steals any of their stuff.
Yeah, maybe not for something like small arms weapon storage, but not for fucking exterminatus warheads. That's like saying you're astonished no one has ever stolen an ICBM from the US.
Yes, they are a virus. But they don't do anything the way Nurgle likes
Virus bombs bring a swift death.
The new life they create dies out quickly along with the rest of the planet.
They don't leave anything to decay because it all burns.

>>50951878
Thank you anon. and to answer your question, no my friends aren't furries.
>>50951808
It WAS awesome, but it definitely requires co-operative players. If my GM had needed to communicate what the rest of the party was seeing and then what I was seeing, it would have fallen flat while slowing the game to half speed. It relied on him describing just one version of reality and me acting on something else.
Lots of stuff like that requires your players to be on board. Mind control, illusions, pre-destined actions... anything that affects your players and not just their characters, what your players decide to do with their characters and the information that they get from you, requires that the players be helping you to pull it off. You just can't force that sort of stuff without risking confusion and resentment.
This thread's better, I'm using this one.
Can we have one of these again? I've always liked them.
Does anyone have more of these? I think I saw one I didn't have when I was on mobile a couple weeks ago? In any case, gonna dump the ones I have.

>Question
Do your games take place in more urban locales? Or do you prefer rural games?
>Do your games take place in more urban locales? Or do you prefer rural games?
Urban, but I like to set up fictional cities like they're an island in the middle of nature. Forests, mountains, deserts, swamps, farmland, and/or whatever are within driving distance.
>>50948700
>Do your games take place in more urban locales? Or do you prefer rural games?
They take place in York and Kyoto because those are the places my players are familiar with.
I once teleported them to NYC and they calmly did day labour, bought plane tickets and flew back to England, then took a train (standard class) back to York.

What's your wishes for D&D 6th edition /tg/?
>>50948685
For it to stop dominating the tabletop market and to stop being a catch-all term for all tabletop RPGs.
Honestly? I'm pretty happy with 5e.
I'd rather than build on 5e more before jumping to 6e with more feats and class options.

Have you ever ran/played in a straight-up historical campaign, with no fantasy bullshit? How did it turn out?
>bullshit
>>50929400
I ran a 3-part game that was a cross between The "Lion in Winter" and "Flesh and Blood", using the WFRP system, and set in 14th century France.
It went pretty well.
