Is it autistic to collect and paint Warhammer 40k armies but only play with them by myself? Like roleplaying both sides of the battle, doing voices for the figures and having like a narrative for each squad, etc that is deeply rooted in WH40K lore?

Why does no iteration of this game do the lore justice? Because my god is the lore awe-inspiring, with a cosmically vast bestiary and history unlike any other.
What? Every iteration of the rule book has good lore.
Because it all sucks.

1) GW hates money gained through digital media for some reason.
2) It's like trying to turn a book into a movie. The book will always be better.
Hi /tg/, how does one become a real-life paladin? I don't mean a literal fighter for justice, a religious murderhobo or a crusading knight. I mean a perfectly disciplined lawful good human being who always does the best possible thing.
Is there a set of rules or a code that you know of, which will make one into a real life paladin?
>>51326099
Yes, there is.
But the order rarely takes new applicants, unless they prove themselves truly worthy.
>>51326099
You can't. Such things are only possible in fantasy and fiction that simplifies complexity of moral and ethics into a clear black-and-white classification.

Are there any settings out there that capture the same level of High Fantasy - Low Magic and the same contrast of hope and friendship with darkness and war as LotR?
Middle-Earth strikes a balance that feels perfect for me, but I can't really seem to find any other settings that give off a similar vibe. They're all either too gritty and dark or too magical and bright.
As beautiful and fantastical as LotR is, I fee like this balances very well with the overall grim and oppressive tone of a land at total war.
Have you considered the LotR setting?
>>51326384
Kek. Yeah, I have, and in fact I love that game.
I was just wondering if there were any other settings out there with a similar atmosphere.
>>51326025
Other than maybe an Arthurian or Beowulf setting, I don't think so. LotR was written to be like a mythology, which is why it manages to hold such a respectable tone throughout.

But where do the cats fit in?
making a lovecraft/Conan inspired setting for my first campaign and I could use some help I'll start
>in a time of heroes and savagery great treasures awaited those who had the strength to take them and terrible monsters lied in wait for those foolhardy enough venture into the wilds.
>unspeakable evils sleep in the forgotten corners of the world awaiting the alignment of the stars.
Howard's Hyperborea is functionally a lot like Medieval Mongolia. With that in mind, there's an OSR blog focusing on a weird, Mongolia-like culture here:
http://udan-adan.blogspot.com/
Lovecraft's weird tales are not rhe adventures that Howard's and Dereleth's are. If you want kind of Lovecraftian but less fatalistoc, try Dereleth for inspiration. That's what all the gameavle "Lovecraftian" stuff from Chaosium and Fantasy Flight do.
Lovecraft used a fair number of lost, ancient races. I think man was something like the 6th race to fully comquer the Earth (once they finally defeated the snake men and pushed them into obscurity). Man was also the only native such race, but apparently a native beetle-like civilization will also be able to make that claim in the future before the sun dies.
One author ran with this idea in The Litany of the Earth, noting that throughout time, the most respected race on Earth is the Great Race of Yith, the only race to achieve any sort of time travel. When those civilizations die, we can at least take comfort that somewhere out there the Yithians are studying us, and somewhen the exist as a witness that we were.
then again, for all we know they also took over people's minds and stole their bodies to established secret colonies across time. A threat that could show up at any time, any place, swelling to thousands strong overnight. Would the natives of that time think them some strangw new cult? with their prophecies and their hidden ways and their strange way of replacing good men with puppets strangely loyal to them?
Is there a system that accurately represents 3-Dimensional movement?

Why is dead black and not green? Death is something natural.
Natural = Green
>>51323605
undeath is unnatural
idk, shut up, who cares.
>>51323605
death by black means is certainly not natural
And what >>51323618 said
>>51323605
Colors have overlap, the circle of life and death is the overlap that is, as a result, strongly expressed in the BG color pair.
You'll notice that hunting and predation is strongly in pure green. General "death" though is a much broader concept that is centrally in black.
Can Indian mythology ever be used for a fun setting?
Or is it doomed to being an unplayable balls-to-the-walls DBZ tier setting with multi-armed blue people riding giant animals and blasting galaxies? I just wanna have my Kshatriya fuck up rakshasas with crazy wheel blades
>>51323341

Anyways, go read the Ramayana or the Mahabharata if you want an actual taste of Hindu mythology.
If you're not in the mood for a 1818019002762648 page story, then the Ramayana should suffice.

Actually, Asura's Wrath is a good source for an IndoGame. Just tune down the exacerbated epicness and you got a really nice setting. You can even make classes based on the mantra affinities and make Mana be Mantra.
Well, time to start writing. You gave me some great ideas.
How often does this trope happen in sci fi? Bonus points if the AI is just a faceless, formless voice. Pic related, how can biological women even compete?
>>51322361

There's the whole "having a vagina" thing, just for starters. Trust me, it's more of a must-have than you think.

If the setting is high-tech enough for AI its probably high enough for direct nerve stimulation. No fleshbag female would be as capable of getting you off than your computer waifu.

I'm working on a very light game, but I still want it to have some difference between weapon types, so they feel different mechanically or "spiritually".
Players will only have a chance to choose one weapon expertise. Is something very anime-like, and the tone of the game will be very One Piece. Also I've always felt that the weapon that a character wields says much about that character.
I've divided weapons in 6 categories. I would like some opinions on which categories would you change or add, and which special quirks can I give to each group
>Big weapons (greataxes, greatswords)
less chance to hit, double damage
>Swords (Katanas, longswords, rapiers)
can parry attacks with them. Maybe a little more if you have a shield
>Close combat (Knives, Unarmed, clubs, etc)
easy to conceal, attack first in small spaces
>Reach weapons (spears, chains, whip)
first attack on open spaces.
>bows (also slings)
long range;
>crossbows (also guns)
short range
>>51320638
acclaration:
on small spaces, crossbows shoot first, providing they're loaded
OP here, This is something else I have on my mind:
Swords are the weapon that embodies honor, right?
I'm thinking on having each character write like an "ideal" they work for. Whenever they fight for it directly, they can add a bonus to the attack IF they are using a sword.
Technically, even a peasant could achieve some victory with a sword, as long as they are fighting for his husbando; which is something very anime-esque.
some more sketches. This is the last shameless bump for my part. Bear in mind that in this game, there are no attributes, everything is covered by skills:
Swords: +1d6 damage if you have the Willpower skill (Which is also used to resist magical effects and impressing others)
Brawling (axes, clubs, fists) +1d6 damage if you have the Strenght skill (which is also used to break doors and increase HP)
Ninja weapons (chains, knives, shurikens) +1d6 damage if you have the Dexterity skill (Which is also used for stealth and dodge)
This should cover melee weapons. HEAVY items, like bastard swords or battleaxes, do double damage but have a penalty to swing. But aren't a category on themselves.
The only problem is that spears are not easy to classify under this system
>PCs are working under an authority figure, like soldiers in an army under a general or evil minions under an overlord
