In a fantasy world, alchemists have discovered a very simple formula for a powder that when burned, it replicates the effects of a 1st-level spell. The process and materials are simple and abundant enough that the spell-powder is now commonly used in warfare or local conflicts by armed groups of all kinds.
Dubs decides the spell.
Pic unrelated.

Unseen Servant
hey /tg/ i need help picking out an animal companion for my druid
it's a 2nd edition game and i am currently 4th level
heres the kicker, it's an aquatic campaign and while it doesnt have to be a fish, it must have a swim speed
>>51889678
oh and aquatic dinosaurs are allowed and encouraged, however it cant be too big
(i have to travel with it on a boat and in a submarine)
>>51889678
How do you feel about warforged animals?
>>51890263
dm is an oldschool guy so probably no warforged
im thinking, fish, amphibian, aquatic mammal or dinosaur
(we are on an island with them so it wont be weird)
What are the best enemies to have in a kid-toned game? I've thought about robots, ghosts and zombies, anything else?. I'm not against them killing sentient things, but at least, not indiscriminatelly like mooks. A battle with a humanoid should be meaningful.
Is it OK as a GM for when a PC defeats an evil mook, to have him go away defeated, but escape by GM fiat, to avoid players execute him/torture him to get information?
>>51885159
That game was cute.
Mutated/corrupted nature spirits. Defeating them purifies the dark mojo away.
GM fiat is fine, but make sure players still get XP/loot after the encounter. My favorite way to do it is to introduce team rocket-like villains building more and more ridiculous machines each time. This makes for cool boss fights, make them easy to blast away afterwards and rewards players with whatever bits and pieces left on the battlefield.
>>51885159
If you need an enemy to escape the PCs for plot reasons, make sure you have a foolproof escape plan liad out from the start so you don't have to pull obvious GM fiat on your players. Depending on how reliably dumb your players are, you can even drop little hints as to how the enemy eventually escapes so you can at least say they had a chance. I recently had an enemy NPC escape using a magic item the players owned in the previous game. They still haven't figured out that half his gear belongs to their old characters.

Is it going to be any different from the other Last Romans campaigns?
>>51874095
Nth for butthurt Conquistadors players are the cancer destroying this game
>>51874156
In that this one will be reclaiming the Roman Empire instead of trying to defend it, yeah.
You get some all-new units that are a fusion of the previous Eastern Roman Empire units and the Byzantine Empire units from SoW: Medieval.
Why is /tg/ so butthurt about systems all the time?

Why is /v/ so butthurt about games all the time?
Why is /a/ so butthurt about anime all the time?

Why is OP so butthurt by big black cocks getting stuffed up his ass all the time?

Theres wisdom to Karl. You just have to really listen.
You'd be butthurt too if you had to sit through hours of games that got ruined and dragged down by shitty rules.
Name a race worse than Kender.you can't
>>51864580
Spellscales, while debatable whether they're on the same level as kender, are absolutely insufferable in their own way.

>inb4 butthurt
Any race can be played awfully, but I can't think of any that deliberately go out of their way to state "you must act like a complete dickbag to play this race" as the Kender.
Ask (questions) and ye shall receive (answers)!
Here's a scenario I see a lot of lower level judges get wrong:
I control a Thespian's Stage and have enough open mana to activate the copy ability. My opponent plays a Wasteland and uses it to attempt to destroy my Stage. With the Wasteland ability on the stack, I activate Stage to copy my Forest. What happens?
>>51834978
Stage becomes an exact copy of the Forest as it exists in layer 1, with the exception of retaining the copy ability. That includes the Basic supertype.
Wasteland's ability goes to resolve, but the target is illegal (since it's not a nonbasic land). The ability is countered by the rules of the game, and Thespian's Stage is not destroyed.

Hello tg
I don't use 4chan so forgive me if this isn't the way I'm supposed to do this.
Currently in a campaign where someone has a weapon with stupid levels of power.
Up until now, the DM has basically just made up the damage it does but always joked that he would let chan decide how much it did.
I'm posting because he wants it to be a surprise.
Also I plan on using the weapon during a ridiculous combo of absurdity in the last fight as the last thing I do before basically dying.
Systems home brewed but the standard version of this weapon does 4 damage and that's considered pretty good.
So tg wanna bone me or my DM?
How much damage does it do?
(Pic related. It's my character in campaign)
>>51891362
Thanks doc.
Now to answer your question, which I'm not entirely sure about, let's say 3.
3 is a nice number.

To answer your question, 1d4.

What helped you improve the most at MTG booster drafts?
memorizing what you're drafting and relative value of the picks + participating in booster drafts
>>51888460
Solid advice. How about practicing booster drafts without paying for MTGO?
>>51888427
Playing and building a cube with people can help you with drafts. It teaches you the importance of certain cards in a draft environment, rather than constructed play.
Follow B.R.E.A.D:
B: Bombs: Threats that will win you the game
R: Removal: Ways to eliminate other peoples bombs and threats
E: Evasion: IF you do not have great bomb creatures to pull from, get the ones that will push damage through
A: Attack: If stuck choosing between a 0/4 or a 4/1, in general get the one with attack power
D: Duds: Everything else. Don't get these cards
Dear /tg/
i am sorry for begging to you wonderful bastards for help, but i have a weird idea for a campaign setting that i would like some advice/creative input on:
MEDIVAL NOIR
if theres any already existing settings akin to this, then i would be delighted to hear about it and just...read into those, if there are none then
please halp a fellow neckbeard

>>51887554
>MEDIVAL NOIR
You mean, gothic fantasy?
>>51887628
less gothic, more...feudal middle ages in europe
Whether a Tabletop Game or not.
I'll start off with this. Reading the better Expanded Universe like the Illidan Novel and even bits of the games like Mists of Pandaria makes me say that Metzen and Co. have been swell at mapping out worlds for games to happen in. Just not so much as mapping out what happens in them.

>all humans come from the same pseudo-medieval european kingdoms that with little to no variation in culture
>>51886792
Warcraft setting, while for the most part a pretty generic fantasy setting, was at least a fairly well written generic fantasy setting (up untill WC3, maybe vanilla WoW as well due to them not really advancing the plot much in that one), with pretty interesting takes on some standard fantasy things.
Even in WoW they've been pretty good at worldbuilding, they just suck at writing actual plot and characters these days.
>>51886792
That's a bit of a side-effect of WoW focusing so much on Strormwind when it comes to Humanity after WC3 happened. Other Human kingdoms (or whatever) that might be more distinct like Theramore or Gilneas have something to happen that kills that (like getting blown up or being turned into furry Night Elves).

How do you learn half swording?
Looks tricky. Is it harder to learn than swording?
>>51887067
Only takes half the time.
>>51887067
1) Grab the sword by the blade
2) Hit people with the blunt end
There, you've lerned it.
