Hello, /tg/, outsider here, with a basic but important question: Why are you doing this?
What's so fun about sitting around a table and talking/arguing about imaginary characters in imaginary worlds? Don't you have anything better to do with your life? How about you go outside and have a good time with actual people, if you know any. Tabletops aren't 'games', I've seen how they're played and, holy shit, it's the cringiest thing i've EVER seen.
What occurrence influenced your life so bad that you gave up on sports or other better forms of entertainment to sit around with a bunch of papers, wasting your time like that?

Not a bad attempt. Next time you make this thread, use a picture of a bunny.

Opinion question to all the 40k fans out there:
Which do you prefer from Warhammer artstyle? Super vibrant or ultra-gritty? I know they're not necessarily exclusive, but it's really something I find myself thinking about when painting models.
On one hand, Warhammer is probably second only to Warcraft in terms of sheer over-the-top design in western fantasy, what with all the massive shoulders and runic engravings - only losing out due to lack of things like pauldrons made of floating volcanoes.
But on the other hand it's Warhammer, and likes to play up the grit because of that, so sometimes I feel compelled to make everything look super worn-down and dirt-smeared.
Do you have preferences? Do you have favorite artists who you feel have captured the purest essence of 40k?
>>52683231
40k is so large all styles may fit. I like both the apocrypha things, the "ancient rememberancer scetches" and the photo aspiring actions shots of today.
The only art I don't like all that much is the old stuff from the RT times. I mean I smile with nostalgia when I see them and they indeed are cool in a way, but c'mon, a five year old child on LSD would draw better.
>>52683231
Give me Blanche or give me death.
Depends on the race for me. Nids and eldar and dark eldar can be vibrant but I like guard and Marines to be gritty and battle worn
Assume I put the General survey here.
Assume I put my answers to the survey here.
Could a red Hatebears deck be viable with this, Eidolon, Tunnel Ignus, and Zozu?
>>52682418
Probably
Make a list fag
Why is it that the typical IG-issued lasgun(or any Las weaponry, for that matter) of the Warhammer 40k universe has been jokingly referred to as a 'flashlight' when in truth they actually aren't? If anything, they're more powerful than the standard conventional small arms of today's world.
For instance, it's easy to use, has no recoil to speak of, possess rechargeable ammunition pack, can rend through flesh, said ammo pack can be used as a makeshift grenade, is dirt cheap and can be mass produced in large quantities without trouble.
Understandably, it's not as iconic as the Astartes' standard 'gun' that can shoot armor-piercing mini-rockets at the rate of an assault rifle, but still, Las weapons seem far advanced beyond today's weapon standards with what they can do.
>>52682311
>at the rate of an assault rifle
>doesn't know his lore
anon...
Because ingame it's about as strong as a flashlight.
>>52682336
>>52682311
Lasguns vs unarmored humans are brutal.
But in 40k everything that guardsmen fight agaist is way stronger than a simple human or has more armor, so in comparison to everything else, they hit as a flashlight.
In comparison with today's scar or ak47 or whatever, they are a fucking big bertha
Thanks for the mana rocks bro edition

Do you run infinite combos, or do you shy away from them? Does it depend on your group?
>>52681367
One guy in my group whines about combos, but the rest of us just ignore him.
>>52681367
I always keep at least one infinite combo in my decks; but I won't use them unless someone else is using one or to spike the football when I'm going to win without it anyway.
>>52681367
It depends on the deck, but I have a few purposefully shy of infinite combos just to say that I can win without them.

Cool story bro
>>52681052
Elves.
Post and talk about skeletons.
I’ve been playing a character who took the form of a skeleton.
Originally they were the Tsukumogami of a mansion, but then a young lady was murdered and buried on the property.
After the mansion was abandoned by the noble family that owned it the ghost of the murdered girl and the mansion spirit spent about 70 years talking playing sharing stories and spooking squatters until the mansions haunted reputation and the collapse of the nearby village meant that nobody came anymore.
30 years after THAT the ghost of the girl finally made peace and moved on. The ghost left the spirit of the mansion her remains as a parting gift.
Another 23 years later one of the wayward sons of the noble line came with his servants. He was looking to reform himself, and start a cult dedicated to the local spider goddess of love. The spirit of the old mansion decided the master and his servants (the rest of the party) were funny and pored itself into animating the bones of the murdered girl.
Since it had spent nearly its entire life essentially imprinting on and then becoming the little sister said ghost never had in life, the spirit acts like an excitable little girl fascinated by positively everything, though with hints of a darker past in its behavior and sense of humor.
The skeleton took to wearing a downsized servant's dress and white apron and is an energetic and un-nerving addition to the party who creeps the noble the fuck out, but he thing's it is the ghost of someone the his family cut short the life of so he's pretty much resigned himself to being followed by this affectionate skeleton for the rest of his days.
Being what it is, the spirit sometimes will throw tantrums if something rubs it the wrong way and if it decides it doesn't like someone or something it is rather difficult and time consuming to change it's mind.
pic unrelated to the character.
I look forward to seeing and hearing what you have to share /tg/ both serious and silly.

What are your thoughts on the latest Thrawn book?
>>52676958
sup /swg/, I need help.
I was the guy in the last thread that was planning to re-use the BF2 campaign from the upcoming game to write a sieres of X-wing and Imperial assault missions in a campaign.
Then I realized that the game will come out in December, and I want to write a campaign for May.
Can you guys help me write a campaign? I'm guessing around 5-7 missions long, with bonuses granted for winning games.
Right now, I'm trying to think of a good basis for a setting that would have alternating Imperial Assault and X-wing games, and I'm stumped.
I am guessing an outer rim world just after endor and I think that the following rough sketch would work-
game 1- X-wing, initial encounter between rebel and imperial scout forces.
Game 2- Imperial Assault, both sides attempt to secure a fuel depot.
Game 3- X-wing, The rebels are attempting to destroy/hijack an imperial communications satellite network.
Game 4- Imperial Assault, The imperials have discovered rebel researchers are developing a new variety of munitions, and send a squad to destroy the facility.
Game 5- X-wing, The rebels are attempting to escort a shipment of goods to sway the local Hutts, which the imperials must destroy.
Game 6- Imperial Assault, The rebels attempt to break into a local imperial depot to steal Imperial intelligence.
Game 7- X-wing, Epic game, final confrontation between rebels and imperials to drive the other off of the planet.
Ideally, winning the game before would give some sort of bonus to the upcoming mission, and/or a bonus to the final mission. Sort of in the vein that the Imperial Armour books (40k from forgeworld) had their campaigns written.
As an example, if the rebels win the 5th game, in the 6th game, they would get bonus mercenaries, and potentially some scum ships in the final game.
I'm trying to work out exact mechanics for this, for both the bonuses for winning, and the rules for each of the 7 missions.
Any help would be appreciated.
Trying to make sense of the Helix-class interceptor. I'm pretty sure the little black part right inline with the leading point where the wings meet the fuselage is supposed to be the cockpit. but that's either tiny, or you have no sight to horizon when sitting. I think I'm going to put the cockpit in the bigger black bubble towards the rear of the craft, where it bulges up. I can get two 2.5 meter decks in, barely, with a midlevel forwards of the cockpit. I think that will give enough room to justify basic cabins+engine room+cargo room.

Honestly, I love it. Its an energy source that I wanted to see more use in the universe, and I don't think its been used ridiculously so far.
