tl;dr, /tg/ can't even form a consensus on if they enjoy games, let alone picking a system, mascot, or enjoyed themes. Don't expect anything other than a vocal minority trying to shout down another vocal minority.

"... and he that went before now came last, and that which was white and black and all direction was thrown against itself. Grown mightily indignant at the words of the Gods, Malal did turn his heart against them and flee into the chambers of space... And no man looked to Malal then, save those that serve that which they hate, who smile upon their misfortune, and who bear no love save for the damned. At such times as a warrior's heart turns to Malal, all Gods of Chaos grow fearful, and the laughter of the Outcast God fills the tomb of space..."

Prolly asked it before but I'm braindead at the end of a long week; what's the mass market game from your youth that you loved the most? Still in your collection? What about the first game that got you to transition from those into hobby/niche board games?

I loved Clue. I plan to fetch my old copy next time I go back to my parents' house.

My first hobby game was the usual: Catan. But it didn't really capture my attention much. I had side exposure to a number of others, but Forbidden Desert is the one that really got me into it.
>>
Could anyone give me some recommendations/comments on the following games:

>Tragedy Looper
>Witch Hunt
>The Lords of Rock
>Legends of Draxia
>Fairy Tale
>Crisis: Tokyo
>Ars Alchimia
>Noir
>Eight Epics
>Attack on Titan DBG

I'm currently visiting the US, and I'm looking for some games to take back to Germany. These are the games that caught my eye at a FLGS near me.

I'd say maybe Risk or Monopoly, but I didn't like Monopoly very much and Risk was just something I played at camp.
I borrowed a copy of Catan and Bang from a cousin, and fell down the rabbit hole form there. Played Catan for about 7 hours straight with my friends, pulling a literal all nighter.

Tragedy Looper is my favorite game, but it mostly involves analyzing board state and looking at a spreadsheet in order to make logical deductions. It's really not a game for everyone, but I love it since on one side, it's a puzzle game that's actively working against you, and on the other, you're trying to bluff/feign/improvise a plan on the spot.

I felt like Fairy Tale really too simple and bland. It's my only drafting game outside of MtG, but most of the cards were too straightforward and lacked interesting interaction. The expert cards are a step in the right direction though, but they account for a small portion of the deck.

It is 152 years since the American Civil War effectively ended with Lee's surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia. The event has become an important part of the war's mythology. Dressed in an immaculate uniform, Lee waited for Grant. Grant arrived at the courthouse in a mud-spattered uniform—a private's sack coat with trousers tucked into muddy boots, no sidearms, and with only his tarnished shoulder straps showing his rank. It was the first time the two men had seen each other face-to-face in almost two decades. Suddenly overcome with sadness, Grant found it hard to get to the point of the meeting and instead the two generals briefly discussed their only previous encounter, during the Mexican-American War. Lee brought the attention back to the issue at hand, and Grant offered the same terms he had before.

The terms were as generous as Lee could hope for; his men would not be imprisoned or prosecuted for treason. Officers were allowed to keep their sidearms. Grant also allowed the defeated men to take home their horses and mules to carry out the spring planting and provided Lee with a supply of food rations for his starving army; Lee said it would have a very happy effect among the men and do much toward reconciling the country. The terms of the surrender were recorded in a document hand written by Grant's adjutant Ely S. Parker. Lee, upon discovering Parker to be a Seneca Indian, remarked "It is good to have one real American here." Parker replied, "Sir, we are all Americans." As Lee left the house and rode away, Grant's men began cheering in celebration, but Grant ordered an immediate stop. "I at once sent word, however, to have it stopped," he said. "The Confederates were now our countrymen, and we did not want to exult over their downfall."

What would be the social implications of typing halfling and human reproduction together?

Basically halflings are a kind of human, and you won't know if a child of a human or a halfing is either or until they grow up or stop growing.
>>
>>52596868
I mean, it depends on how Halflings and Humans get on. I'd imagine for some it's a lot like waiting to see if your kid inherited some sort of horrific genetic illness.

Setting up something for a Hexcrawl, going for a Darkest Dungeon/Darklands kind of dark ages feel with a mostly unexplored, very dangerous wilderness where all the things your grandma warned you about are real.

I'm hoping for some feedback on geography, since realistic terrain isn't something I've studied a ton.

Map is 12 miles per hex, 7 miles on a side. Each hex will have one or two major features keyed to start and others will be filled in (It's not like there's only one thing worth doing every hundred+ square miles)

So the terrain here is basically a slowly descending valley into the floodplain the river system follows. The western coast is mostly rocky cliffs except where the river system lets out, which descends to sea level and forms a wetland that gets woodier as you head north. The town is at the edge of the wetland in a cultivated area, and a few miles up on the higher land is the lord's manor, where Darkest Dungeon things happened.

Most of the rest of the region is rocky, misty moorland, with dense forests in the north and south where the mountains and foothills rise. I'm imagining it being pretty gloomy and rainy, Witcher-esque. Should the trees be evergreen or deciduous you think?

So what about the geography here could I improve to make it more natural? How could I wrangle some more terrain diversity? Given the shape of the land is there anywhere I could realistically stick some dry terrain or badlands for the PCs to explore? I'm imagining most of this being ugly gray rainy from the ocean winds but if I can squeeze out more diversity that'd be nice.

Thanks, famalam.

>spend most sessions mucking about in convoluted intrigue plots instead of being heroic adventurers
30 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
I'm a Forever DM so I can't contribute much, but if the dungeons take too long to clear just draw smaller ones, not designing dungeons is lazy DMing.

Btw, nothing wrong with intrigue plots, they make the adventure more interesting.
>>
>>52682780
True, but I'd bet good money that any GM too lazy to make a dungeon isn't going to be writing grade-A intrigue plots either. He's probably winging it entirely, meaning the twists in the plot are asspulls with no foreshadowing.

inb4 some fag comes in screeching about how there's no middle ground between autistic CRPG railroading and half-assed no-prep fumblings. Decent GMs do prepwork and improv; both are necessary to some extent and every GM has their own happy balance between the two.
>>
>>52682859
I see. Noticing tons of plot holes in the adventure is most frustrating thing for me as a player, DMs should really get their ideas straight before announcing they're running a game. And in my experience, the less a DM needs to improvise, the better the adventure will be.

It will be steam punk esk, there will be a lot of anime references

Fun is more important than the numbers, if your clever I'll bend the rules a bit behind the screen.

This game will be slightly steam punk. There is going to be a howls moving castle cameo and Rush Valley from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Strange old artificers, Monks who used armed prognostics in battle, and more.

I'm not going to limit the options to just the classes in the player handbook, but you have to send me the link of what site you got the class from. The I have to approve it. I accept Unearthed Arcana and some of the tumbler 5e homebrew."

>A new guy steps into the scene and suggests a compromise version of the solar system that's obviously impossible but manages to make both the church and the mathematical proofs correct
What happens?

If the compromise is obviously impossible, the mathematicl model has likely made one or more incorrect assumptions. What happens is recognizing these assumptions, discarding or modifying them, basing a new model on the new assumptions and testing whether this new model reproduces experimental data and if it's possible predictions are reproduced by future measurements.
In short, science happens.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
